Congrats new bee. Welcome 💜
I was born in Indiana, Twon!
Hoosier here! 🙋♀️
John Mellencamp has several songs that are FANTASTIC! The rasp in his voice on "Ain't Even Done With The Night" is killer. It reminds me so much of Bruce Springsteen. Hopefully, you'll check these out sometime.
- "Ain't Even Done W/The Night" ❤
- "Jack & Diane" ❤
- "Hurts So Good" ❤
- "Crumblin Down"
- "Cherry Bomb"

With that adorable smile of yours it wouldn't surprise me one bit if I was Mrs. Twon in a former life. You're just too sweet for words. 🥰
😂😂😂..and thanks ❤️witcho fine self
@@jennhurl lol. I love it 🥰
Fun fact : the man dancing with no shirt, is Harvey Goodin, the mayor of Austin, IN in 1983 !!
John puts on THE best live show you could ever witness!! His shows are costly however he now does smaller & more personal venues!
His real last name is Mello camp. He started out as John cougar. He also. Used to play with Willie Nelson. Farm aid. To help farmers. He's had 5 open heart surgery's. He young in these. Put up. Hurt so good and. That's when a spoke was a spoke. .these are. Awesome songs. And you would also love. Kenny Rogers. sweet music man he wrote it for Waylon Jennings. When he died.
John Mellancamp aka John Cougar is another American Artist. Huge 80’s artist.
John Mellencamp is a class act! Held concerts "Farm Aid" to help American farmers. You should check out his other songs. Wild nights, Rain on the Scarecrow, Cherry Bomb, Play Guitar, My personal favorite is Key west Intermezzo ,(I saw you first)
Mellencamp has many great ones. Early on, he was known as John Cougar, then John Cougar Mellencamp, then just John Mellencamp. Check out these songs: Small Town, Jack and Diane, Hurts So Good, Cherry Bomb, Wild Night, Crumblin' Down, Authority Song, R.O.C.K. in the USA, Hand To Hold Onto.
Mellencamp is also one of the founding members of Farm Aid, an organization that began in 1985 with a concert in Champaign, Illinois, to raise awareness about the loss of family farms and to raise funds to keep farm families on their land. Farm Aid concerts have remained an annual event over the past 36 years, and as of 2021 the organization has raised over $60 million.
John Mellencamp and Tom Petty are similar styles. Very much "heartland rock". Tom Petty is another one you should check out if you haven't yet. He's a Gainesville FL boy who made it big. Many of their songs are great driving songs. Nice little beat to drive away the time while on the road. Usually their songs don't have the guitar solo's many rock n roll songs have. Its mostly the band playing together and making great music. Both Tom Petty and John Mellencamp donated time and talent to help those in need. Tom did the Midnight Mission, Musicares and Special Olympics. John Mellencamp was well known for FarmAid and many other charities.
A rocker who celebrates small town America and the farmlands. His songs are fabulous, they really make you want to dance. He's very talented. One of my favorites is Paper and Fire but he's done SO many great songs, his catalog is amazing.
So living in the airplay capital of the world for Mellencamp (Btown, IN) just thought I'd share that there is a new album coming out and Bruce Springsteen was here recently cutting a track with him. Two old G.O.A.T.S ! 🤣 They were eating at the Uptown Cafe on a Sat night ..... that's small town America for ya.
Video was mostly shot in and around Seymour, Indiana; John’s hometown and mine. The African-American gentleman at the beginning was a friend’s grandfather.
And I have a lot of John Mellencamp stories; wish I had time and space to tell them.
Yes!!! Thank you! Very few reactors cover Mellencamp and he's in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (2008) and Songwriter's Hall of Fame (2018). He filmed the majority of his music videos in and around Seymour, IN and Bloomington, IN where he lives now. He's stayed loyal to who he is...a small town Indiana boy and a rebel. He's a constant fixture at IU Basketball games. You should do more Mellencamp. All his stuff is about small town America. Small Town, Authority Song, Jack and Diane and SO many others!
John Cougar Mellencamp has a boatload of awesome songs and puts on an incredible concert!
Awesome awesome song! 🇺🇸 home of the free!!! 🇺🇸👍🏻
I grew up listening to John Mellencamp, my Mom was a huge fan. I was lucky enough to see him twice in concert! They were both awesome!!
The world should know that America has a lot more dirt roads than streets paved with gold ☮️♥️😎
John cougar Mellencamp still lives in Bloomingdale Indiana. He was engaged to Meg Ryan and they split up in 2020. Here’s some interesting health information about him but I was not aware of.
The rocker had a birth defect called "spina bifida," a condition that leaves an opening in the spinal column which causes the spinal cord to extend outside the body. Mellencamp was lucky to be alive, especially since the same surgery performed by his doctors on two to other patients was not successful.
originally his name was John Cougar in case you get confused along the way... this was one of his BIG hits but he has many more great songs and one of his all time biggest hits :"Jack and Diane"... and for a longer really rockin tune check out "I Need A Lover".... its from early in his carreer and Pat Benatar did a cover of the song.... its a great cover but she paired it down some .... tightened it up and shortened it a bit.... johns version is a strait up classic rock tune... peace my friend... enjoy
John Cougar Mellencamp, a truly great artist. He has no problem saying what needs to be be heard.
He wrote tons of great songs- like Hurt So Good and Jack and Diane.
This was shot in Jackson county Indiana and town is Seymour. This is where I live now the final scenes at the store is about 1 mile from my house. My husband went to school with John and we been used to him On a motor bike all over Jackson County for years he’s got a lot of great songs. all about America he supports the farmers. One of the founders of farm aid. Songs, Blood on a scarecrow, Check it out, Hurts so good, Jack & Diane. 👍
John is a lifelong Hoosier. He was born in Seymour and lives outside Bloomington near Lake Monroe. Small Town is a sort of autobiographical song about his life in a small town. Cherry Bomb and Lonely Ol' Night are also great.
You wanna see somethin special, watch him perform at Obama's inauguration 2008!!!!!!
He had one of the greatest " mullets" ever !
If you're searching for his music you can also find it under John Cougar and John Cougar Mellencamp. When he first recorded he recorded under John Cougar.
America I love this country.
When he first started he went by John Cougar, then went to John Cougar Mellencamp & then John Mellencamp. First time I remember seeing him was on American Bandstand with Dick Clark hosting.
jack and Diane..number 1 song on billboards long time!
Loooove John Mellencamp! Try these songs: Cherry Bomb, Check It Out, Rain on the Scarecrow, Hurts So Good. ❤
When you're ready for more John Mellencamp check out "Lonely Ol' Night", "Crumblin' Down", "Authority Song", "I Need A Lover", and "R.O.C.K. In The U.S.A." among many others. I saw him open for Heart back around 1982 and he blew them away, imo. That was when he was still called John Cougar.
all of these, lol
Don't forget Rain on the Scarecrow! That whole album is incredible.
I saw him in concert he had just came out with Jack and Diane he opened up for Heart
I always love John cougar Mellencamp videos because they remind me of back when I was a kid. Just something as simple as seeing the I 65 signs. Must’ve been on that freeway 1000 times going to our summer home in Bass Lake.
Good Times.
Oh, I remember another very early one I was nuts about! "I Need a Lover that Won't Drive Me Crazy" or maybe its just called "I Need a Lover". He was just called "John Cougar" back then.
Song writing talent on display.
He's from Bloomington. Love him and yes he's one of us!! ♥️
Human Wheels, I Need A Lover
John Cougar Mellencamp has been around for a long while! He's got lots of songs to dive into! 👍♥️
One of my favorites from him!!!
Soulful unlike most of today's music
John is Indiana's native son. Song many great songs. This song is about even though American is great, a lot of people's dreams don't come true. And it's the simple man who pays the most. I think my favorite song of his is Again Tonight, but I don't know he has so many great ones.
As a teen, my friends and I happened to catch his dog that got loose. We were hanging out at Waycross Camp that weekend and one of the local kids recognized it. He and his girlfriend finally caught up and they were quite winded and grateful.
One of my top favs of John's. Anything from the Scarecrow album is gonna be fire. Great album, still my favorite album. I grew up about 50 miles from him. This looks like down around Seymour, maybe North Vernon area not sure, if the train tracks runs through Seymour like they do in North Vernon.. I met John when I was in high school before he hit the big times. He played in a tiny pool hall and came up and asked me where the stage was, and I swear they played Jack and Diane that night. John wore his FFA jacket in his early videos, that what made me recognize who it was when I seen him on TV. Had to come give my fellow Hoosier some love. Thanks. He has tons of great songs... Small Town, Paper and Lace, Lonely Ol Night, Rain On The Scarecrow, Hurt So Good. Thanks.
It was written by john when he was driving through the country and saw a man on porch happy. Smiling at him and waved at him. At struck him. They house was salmon pink. But a typical american home. Rural. The smile and wave inspired him that people are happy in the rural out back. He says black man. Which he was.
'Jack and Diane' and 'Hurts so Good'😃
John is an amazing ICONIC artist. He isn’t reacted to enough! 😎👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Love this song 🎵 ❤. Love J.C.M.
Speechless with a big ole smile... it is a great song for sure!
"Southern Indiana locations such as Seymour, Austin, and Bloomington in August and September 1983. The house near the beginning is located West York Road in Austin, Indiana. The white, two-story gas station known as Bedel’s Store, bedecked in patriotic buntings and an American flag, was located on the SE corner at the intersection of Indiana State Road 250 and U.S. Highway 31 in Uniontown, Indiana, and is no longer present."

Welcome to the genre of Heartland Rock. Along with Bruce Springsteen (the king of the genre), Bob Seger (its earliest contender), Bryan Adams (a Canadian weighs in), Huey Lewis (West Coast dad rock), Tom Petty (bigger than the genre), Tracy Chapman (revolutionary Folk), and Bruce Hornsby (piano Rock) (and even a lot of the working-class anthems of Billy Joel), there was a lot of stuff along these lines on Pop radio back in the 1970s, but especially the 80s, and the first half of the 90s. Thematically, it deals with themes of nostalgia (songs about "the good old days" or "bad old days" are a cornerstone of the genre), humble circumstances (crappy jobs, rural settings, working-class or poor protagonists), and Americana (small towns, cars, high school sweethearts, sports, a fondness for tradition).
"Pink Houses" is definitely one of his best. Some of his stuff has a Country Rock feel like this, but he also has a really soulful, old-school R&B-influenced or Hard Rock approach on several songs, too. That's kinda how the genre rolls, too. It's twangy, melodic Pop-Rock with raspy, folky vocals. While all of it uses organic instrumentation (guitars, pianos, drums) all of these artists have also occasionally experimented with their sound and dabbled in synthy stuff, drum machines, Funk textures, and New Wave production values. Here are about ten of John "Cougar" Mellencamp's other best songs, if you are curious enough.
"Jack and Diane"
"Authority Song"
"Hurt So Good"
"Cherry Bomb"
"R.O.C.K. in the U.S.A."
"Pop Singer"
"Small Town"
"Paper in Fire"
"Get a Leg Up"
"Wild Night" (ft. Me'Shell Ndegéocello)
Twon, here’s another song of his that you might want to check out. It is really freaking cool! It’s called “Hurt so Good.” I sing and I go to karaoke a lot. Hurts so good is the song that I sing a lot at karaoke.
I'll 2nd "Hurts So Good"... one of his huge hits!!! :)
Dude he's an icon!! R*O*C*K in the USA. You'll hopefully get some of the names.
OMG!!! LOVE John Mellencamp!!!! MANY of us have suggested his songs to you Twon.... glad you're finally getting to his music!!! "Jack And Diane" next PLEASE!!! ;)
The covered bridge he was performing in was in Parke County near Turkey Run State Park. The store they are in front of is Gobblers Knob general store in the same area.

Dito Susan
So glad someone done this song
Took my, then 14 yr old, son to see him a few years (20) back. My son's first concert - it was great! The man never stops, from beginning to end. Thanks for the jog to my memories!
Cherry Bomb 💣. Great video probably shot in Indiana also. 🤗😊
He's fun and even makes me think I can dance(can't) He started with the stage name of Johnny/ John Cougar mischievous "I Fight Authority;Authority always Wins" one of my favorite oldies!
Back in his earlier career years, he was also known as "John Cougar" and "John Cougar Mellencamp"
I think it was actually "Johnny Cougar".
He also went as John Cougar, then John Cougar Mellencamp and the later dropped the Cougar, he has several good albums
Just about every song mellencamp has is great!
Number One on my 4th of July playlist ✌🏻🤟🏻🤘🏻
Love this. He's such a downtime boy. Being a fellow Hoosier I can relate to his music.
Pop Singer and Rain on the Scarecrow are two of my faves from Mellencamp.
you should check out Rain on the Scarecrow. That whole album is a classic. He's a very good storyteller.
Hurts So Good, Hard Times For An Honest Man, Small Town, I Need a Lover... everything you need to know to live in the Midwest.
Cuz ,he got a lot of hits play paper and fire you love it
#NoLimitNation 💯
Check out more of his 70's, 80's, & 90's stuff....those are the best!
I've loved him since the 80s. Saw him in concert in 1985.
I called out the "Hoosier" connection and requested this song! Thank you! I think you'd also enjoy Jack and Diane. So many great songs from this part of his career!
He's in song writer hall of fame and rockin roll hall of fame. That should tell you to react to this artist some more. I know you will enjoy his music.
Hoosier here! I grew up in Hammond and Gary but now live in Indy.
Here’s the answer to your question as to where was the video filmed.
Music video
Shot in Southern Indiana locations such as Seymour, Austin, and Bloomington in August 1983. The house appearing near the beginning (with man on porch) is located at 530 York Road in Austin, Indiana.
Nice with the knowledge,💪💪❤️❤️🥳🥳
Great song and great reaction. Always had a big crush on him. I believe the cheerleader at the end dancing with him was his first wife. She was also in his video of his first big hit "Jack and Diane" that song made him. A look so good ones of his, Rain On The Scarecrow, Small Town, Cherry bomb
Bruce Hornsby...Long Valley Road.
you might also enjoy Authority Song and Crumblin' Down
Mellencamp is from Seymour, IN. His Small Town video may have some more familiar sights.
U should check out "Cherry Bomb" by him. That's my favorite song by him. I grew up in the 80's, teenager. Love all the music from back then and before. But, I am totally an 80's girl.
Hurt so good I'd a great song too. I loved him so much.
I love that he never lost touch with his roots when he got famous. He supported family farmers with Farm Aid events. Love this guy!!
Tons of GREAT lyrics and melodies, but I think his best is "Check It Out'....
so Please check it out, Twon!!
Mellencamp is an american storyteller for sure
John Mellencamp was huge. I think you would really enjoy reacting to the videos for Paper in Fire and Rain on the Scarecrow. Check 'em out....
I remember when he performed this at Obama's inauguration concert. Great song, great artist.
Yeah but Obama sucked
His cover of Buddy Holly's Rave On is excellent. Ditto his cover of Wild Night.
His cover of John The Revalator is pure gold as well.
😬 I’m not sure I like any Buddy Holly covers but... Buddy Holly was my first ever crush. Wild Night is good though.
I believe a good portion of it shot in Seymour, Indiana.
He covered a Van Morrison song, Wild Nights. He did a version with me'shell ndegeocello. It's killer.
I love John Mellencamp. He tells good stories while he's singing. A very lively person
Hoosiers rise up!
