You did your best at pretending you like it. 😆
Yes, solid attempt for sure
Totally….staying positive as usual!
Any video where an adult is singing about love surrounded by school kids kind of gives me the eebie jeebies. Liked the song back then, hated the video. LOL. I think maybe Joan Jett and the Blackhearts may be more up your alley for exploring 80s female singers.
Nah I didn't get that at all! He reacted exactly the same as I did when I first seen it 35 years ago as a kid! It totally spooked me out! It's a powerful ballad but the video put the shits up me! He had a lot to think about after watching this :)
He is not fake at all... that's why I like him!
She has another song worth listening to: Holding Out For A Hero!
Heartbreak is another favorite of mine from her .
@@michaelmarlonbestbae6078 Faster than the speed of night or loving you is the dirty job are my favourites. Because her voice shining here most in my opinion
Ooh, I love that one...
Isn't. That on the "Footloose" soundtrack?
@@robertarnold7187 I believe it is
I was in middle school and high school during the 80’s and even I’ll admit that some the the videos of the day didn’t make a lot of sense🤔 Still was the best of times though.
BEST OF TIMES
Me too bro. Yes they were, sometimes i wish i could back to those days, cause there will never be decade like that again....unfortunately.
Oh, you didn't have any fun teachers, poor boy you. 😅
You should check out the song “Alone” by Heart. Phenomenal song
Absolutely !!!Heart has a ton of stuff
ALONE IS GREAT. I DON'T LIKE WHEN ISN'T AT LEAST THREE REVIEWS ON A ARTIST OR ARTISTS.😊
70's Bonnie Tyler - It's a Heartache
Try her first hit, called It's a heartache.
Boyyyyy you just bought back some memories for this 80’s baby. This song just hits different with the build up! 80’s rock ballads are the best!
Same
I like the song for sure. The video I’ve never seen. Creepy. 😂 Nice reaction.
Yeah, either she is thinking naughty stuff about students or they're all vampire boys. smh
@@CurlyFromTheSwirly Yeah, since there is not a single vampire in the whole freakin' video!
@@trhansen3244
I'm not sure
I can't recognize them
She killed this song live in the 80s
Great song! The video……a little different. Lol. You reminded me of the “literal video” spoof of this song when you said ninjas!
Try Patti Smith _Because the Night_ a song co-written by Bruce Springsteen. Smith is an amazing artist...
Sometimes the video throws us off really good song great reaction ✌️❤️💯
Have listened to this song numerous times but this is my 1st time ever seeing this strange video. Puts a whole new "spin" on what I thought the meaning was about.
Back in my day if a cassette or album didn't come with the lyrics,, we had to play it on repeat to write the lyrics!
love the song but the video brings back sooooo many memories. Where it was shot I worked and lived there- my first every teaching job was there. It used be called the American University in Bushey (England) but I worked/lived there way after this video was shot- it was once entitled the most haunted place in England and damn at night it was totally scary.
Those 80s concept videos were something else.
Oh boy, this one too. Another great song from Bonnie. Very artistic. Her voice had that raspiness and it was alluring, and it was powerful. Heard many songs by her and was amazed at this one because she easily ascended just as well as descended her voice.
The lighted eyes on the alter boys always do it lol
This will always be a great song. Really dont know what is going on in this music video. 😂
No one does. No one at all. Someone had a tooktoomuch day and decided this was a good idea.
Typical 80s MTV Videos....not much to do with song just flashy shit 😁
@@newgrl I always thougt that she fell in love with a student and she knew that it was wrong because she was a teacher and the love had no future - that´s why she froze when he gave her the hand
@@drakulkacz6489 Nope. Jim Steinman, the writer and composer (also Meat Loaf's) included “Total Eclipse of the Heart” in his composition for the 1997 musical Dance of the Vampires. This is supposed to be a boy's school full of vampire boys. Which explains both why she's always running around in it seeming to look for a place to pee (thank you Literal Video version) and the way the boys' eyes light up at the end of the video. It's doesn't explain the gymnasts, the fencers, or half the other crazy stuff in this video though.
@@wearinganapron Probably. But I'm still going with tooktoomuch :):)
You still got the best smile, melt my heart.
You're welcome!! And thanks for doing that!! My Mom and I wanted to see your reaction! I sent it to you June 13th via Instagram. The video throws it off a bit but still a great song! Much love from Albuquerque, NM ......
thank you 4 requesting it
Im so happy you're venturing to my other era..
She had an accident.. told her she would never sing again.. then she came out with this raspy voice.. that made her a star
Yeah, the video's pretty wild. Heartbreak song meets The Omen.
sometimes in the 80s' the video made no sense but the music was incredible, she has another one called I need a hero
This is my favourite reaction to this song on UA-cam. It is genuine and you don't talk over the song. Thank you. I subbed 😁
My favorite song of the late 60's. Wonderful!!! NOT THE 80'S!!! LATE 60'S.
A classic!!!!!
Total Eclipse of the Heart Literal Video Version is a must for this one.
I scrolled through to find this comment, or post it myself.
Such a weird video, the literal version is hilarious.
Her song I Need a Hero is fantastic
You should do Michael Bolton - how am I supposed to live without. It reminds me of this song
I need a hero
I absolutely love this song. ❣️
It was voted the 5th best song of the 1980s.
You should see her 'I need a hero'. Awesome
One of my favorites!!!
this is one of the most emotional songs i have ever heard about heartbreak. the video may be odd but you have to remember b4 the 80s there were no music videos, it was just the person singing so this is an early creative attempt.
There's a longer version too I prefer it
I'm glad I never saw these videos from the 80s, very strange, a lot of them. I just loved the song on the radio. This included.
She has a very strong and powerful voice.
Tyler's voice is interesting because she has natural vocal nodes but chose to not risk surgery but to sing with them instead. And she is Welsh which adds to it. 80s videos though...
Trust Me On This One My Music Lovin Brother,, A SMOOTH GROOVE SOUL CLASSIC,, THE BLACKBYRDS "WALKING IN RHYTHM"
The video has a lot of Secret society symbolisms.
Her voice has always been very beautiful and very haunting…. I love it.
Bonnie Tyler did a song in the original footloose movie, starring Kevin Bacon. Brilliant movie for music.
80's das strenght and intensity
Welcome to 80s power ballads!
I just love the line “once upon a time I was falling in love, now I’m only falling apart”
That describes Hillary Clinton after she graduated high school.
She's backed up on this song by air supply, as I understand it.
It’s not Air Supply singing with her, it’s Rory Dodd!
The guy singing with her is the amazing Rory Dodd. He collaborated with Jim Steinman tons and did a lot of backing vocals for different artists that Jim worked with. I actually kinda got to know him a little bit years back. We have the same last name and he messaged me after we both left a comment on a post from Karla Devito. He made a joke about maybe being cousins & I of course fan girl’d over him big time. We’ve stayed Facebook friends since.
Love his hair 🔥
As a young teen at an all girls school when this came out this song was inspiring on many levels. 😂 I used to imagine she was a ghost. Then that they/the boys were ghosts.
Plus I would just watch because seeing cute boys was awesome and so was the song.
Bonnie Tyler had some hits back in the day, i remember i used to love bitterblue lol
So love this song 💯👩🏼🦳
Back in the 80s music videos were taken more seriously as an artform, at least by the people making them. They put out some really weird shit, but it was creative, to say the least. Check out A-Ha's Take On Me, for instance.
Well, there's no denying that the video for this song is really weird. But then, that kind of fits a song that started out being written for a musical version of "Nosferatu" and which was originally titled "Vampires in Love".
How am I 43 years old and just now realizing what this song is about 😂
Love Bonnie Tyler and that rasp! The music is so full and powerful, like a score to a movie- so many moving parts. Love it!
- and I have no idea how to interpret the video, lol! But love the music and lyrics!
I wonder if they used some of audio software to give her that rasp.
❤️
One of the craziest videos from a particularly weird time. Songs great though.
After that….maybe you could give a listen to Bonnie Raitt - I can’t make you love me
Or maybe Billy Joel - River of dreams? Love your reactions! Peace
Bonnie is phenomenal
thank you , I like the song , I gave you another request in your Instagram from her , I've been waiting a reaction for a long time but this is the 1st time I asked you , I think.............Shadow
Always loved this song but, WOW…. I can’t make sense of this video. :)
Memories of 12 yo me singing into a hair brush 😂 Written by the same guy who wrote all Meatloafs stuff. You MUST react to the parody of this. Hilarious
Once upon a time I was falling in love but now I'm only falling apart...every first romance that truly felt like what you thought was love but it died left you feeling those lyrics
It's Only natural..Ya Gotta do...I Need a Hero...
I always like and save your videos before I watch. I know I’m going to love it!
Two Videos and songs that I can't watch or listen to without thinking of the brilliant parodies:
"Smells Like Teen Spirit" - Nirvana / Weird Al Yankovic - "Smells like Nirvana"
and
"Total Eclipse of the Heart" - Bonnie Tyler / "Literal Video of Total Eclipse of the Heart" - David A. Scott with Felicia Noble on vocals.
You should really really react to the Literal Video now that you've seen this. It's hilarious.
me too
I was 11 when this song came out...38 years later I still don't get the video 🤣🤔
Omg you "definitely shoukd check out a song called "baby come back" by player.
Talk about instruments..!! It will give you goosebumps
Another brilliant track written and produced by Jim Steinman (who wrote for Meat Loaf)
You should check out her massive hit in 1978 'Its a Heartache'. It's the 80s and most times the videos had nothing really to do with song 🤷🤭. The verses that stand out to me are " we're living in a powder keg and giving off sparks" and " once upon a time I was falling in love...and now I'm only falling apart". Love this song 💗🕊️
At 4:18 has always been my favorite part of this 🎵
This video IS the 80’s 😂
My guy, you're gonna have to just close your eyes and listen to this one lol. This video is weird, even for 1980's standards. You should check out her song "It's A Heartache".
Watch the literal version of this video. It's hilarious! The song is fine. It's that crazy video.
I am dying to hear you react to Leon Bridges - Coming Home. He a newer, young soul singer with an old-school swag.
It's an all boys school about teacher falling for student
As u can tell, directors used alot of cocaine in the 80s
MTV was just starting out when this came along.
Musical mini movies of songs or the stories of songs were not new, but 'video' was, It was easier and cheaper to be creative.
Almost every new song had to have a video now, and a separate artform was born. This has an experimental, gothic vibe that is pretty weird on first viewing. It grows on you if only for its quirkiness. For a good laugh, you should see, even on your own time, a literal version of this song. It's on UA-cam... (use the song name and the word 'literal') Anyway, they overdubbed another talented singer's voice over Bonnie's, but the new voice, instead of singing the lyrics, is literally describing what's onscreen. It's hilarious! I promise it'll kill the creepiness factor! lol
This video is an 80s Nightmare, lol. It's so iconic. It's been heavily parodied...
My favorite music video from the 80s. Only intellectually inferior liberals would parody it.
@@trhansen3244 Your'e funny !!!!!
Now that you’ve watched that insane video, you need to watch the “literal video” version: ua-cam.com/video/fsgWUq0fdKk/v-deo.html
Also, this song was written by Jim Steinman, who wrote the songs for Meatloaf’s Bat Out of Hell album. This is quasi-rock opera like those songs (Paradise By the Dashboard Light and I’d Do Anything for Love).
You beat me to it lol
The "Literal Video" of this is absolutely fckin' brilliant:
And they shouldn't fence at night
Or they're going to hurt the gymnasts
Why do they play football inside?
Here's another shot of fencing
And I've mostly been lit from behind
Watch these shadows run off
LOL! Yes!
80s videos for ya 😁
That's funny AF. Thank you, I needed something funny after hearing this sad song.
-
"Why are they playing football inside?"
Maybe cause it's dark outside!
The Eyes creeped me a bit as I was only 11 when this came out. But, I had already seen Salem's Lot, so I was kind of toughened up :)
I saw the video for this the first time just recently. I'm guessing in the video, she's a headmistress of supernaturals at an all boys school and the video is her singing about her love while doing the rounds checking on her night students. That's my take anyway. Even though I'm a bit late watching this reaction. lol
haha my parents sell all amway products and XS is the only energy drink i can enjoy.
I think Laura Branigan "Self Control' might be something you would like, but if you want to hear fire, check out Alanis Morrisette "I'm here to remind you"....a real thumper!!!!
This video is about vampires in love. Yep its true!
I love this song, and Stand Back - both on the Rock side, but edgy enough for me.
If you like Rush bro you need to check out The Tragically Hip. The song is long time running
I'm not 100% but I think this won song of the year on most of the hit charts. Forget they year, but I remember "Another Brick in The Wall" got it a few years before.
Jewel “Foolish Games”
#NoLimitNation
The composer/writer of this song had envisioned it involving a vampire. Years later he composed an entire musical around it called "Tans der vampire". It was originally written in German and the original stage production in Germany is available to watch on UA-cam. Also, available with subtitles. I watched different versions and my favorite is the original cast starring Steve Barton as the main vampire. (Musical lovers will recognize him as the original Raole from Phatom of the Opera.) The musical was not as successful in the US because they changed it claiming the US audience would not like such a political production. The jist is that the vampires are the rich sucking the life of the people. And there are funny parts. Do not watch the US version, I did and they ruined it.
Do voices carry by Till Tuesday
I love hearing your reactions! I have a suggestion for you: ROY ORBISON - He was the opening act for Elvis Presley in the 60’s. Please review one of many of his hits - CRYING. BE sure it’s ROY’s original ( not with KD Lang). I’ll be watching for it. He has the best voice I’ve ever heard. Thank you.
Always thought the imagery in this video was a bit strange. But it's a good song
I never saw the video just loved the voice and the words. But I’m probably older than all of you😂
You should check out the literal video version of this song. It’s hilarious.
Please react to Lolly Syrin. Wasteland or for a mind trip Keep it in my pocket.
I suggest Take My Breath Away by Berlin. There are so many great 80s songs that you can react to and I see you’ve already reacted to a few of the best ones.
Lol, she looks like my mother-in-law 😂
Great song but I don't know about that video LOL It's like the director gathered every dramatic thing he or she could think of and vomited it on set. It seems so random. Wonder if it has a meaning I'm missing.
