"Jack and Diane" is a very interesting song with a great melody you would really like about small town America and young love. Little Pink Houses is referring to the trend of house builders to build so many look alike houses in suburban neighborhoods in middle America.
John could be considered a voice of the small towns. He has so many great songs just a few, "Small Town", "Rain on the Scarecrow", "Jack and Diane", and "Hurts So Good". The scenery was from central Indiana around his hometown.
I think I heard that he saw a pink house along side of an interstate and the song grew out of that vision.
Your very close. Actually he was driving along the Interstate and he saw a black man sitting on a porch of a house and the black man waved at him and John waved back. The reference of the Pink Houses I believe is too his grandfather who after World War 2 was involved with building houses for soldiers coming home from the War. They were painted Pink.
I love John mellencamp, sings from the ❤️
I absolutely love this song.❤️✌️🌼
I believe it's in reference to the "American Dream", or lack there of. ♥
Oh John is a great rabbit hole to go down...lot's of great hits! I was hooked from the moment I heard 'Hurt So Good'. ❤
Something special about this country - Don''t forget!
It's funny you bring up the Mick Jagger reference. John was asked in an interview to describe his dancing, and he said it's like a "clumsy Mick Jagger".
Great video!
Grrrrreat song! Always loved this!! Thanks for bringing this Tasha!!! 😊🌹
JCM is a small tow southern Indiana boy, and his songs definitely caught that Americana angst. Good stuff, Tasha! 🙂
John is from rural Indiana and in the video he’s dancing in a field of soybeans, the whole video is picture by picture the northern Midwest!
I was born in 68' and I can remember growing up my Mama would tell me that after I was born she and Dad lived in a pink house, drove a pink car and had a baby girl. Lol.
Hey Tasha, Thanks patrons for a great choice. You are so right Tasha John is a slice of Americana. His has so many good songs I like , "Ain't Even Done With The Night".
One of the best!
Happy Monday homie! This is a classic 80s song right there. I remember MTV did the contest based on the song and video. It was called the "Paint The Mutha Pink" contest.
The GOAT
A great little patriotic rock’n song!
That was a giant pumpkin. LOL
Please react to "Rain on the Scarecrow" by John Mellencamp
Paper in fire, is a jam by him worth checking out
John has many good songs..Glad to see a reaction to this song.I believe the old gentleman was holding a big Pumpkin.
I love John Mellencamp! Lots of great songs as mentioned in the comments.
As a big rail buff, who's loved trains, both full sized, and models since I was a small child, I like railroad scenes in the video, especially the Chessy loco. The railroad scenes kind of show how important the railroads are to linking the different parts of the country together, transporting the products, and the raw materials to make those products, that make a big diverse country like ours work. Our railroad workers, and truck drivers are like the blood cells in a vast circulatory system, feeding the body and different organs with life giving oxygen.
That's my favorite song of his. You described what your reaction was to the lyrics, but how about the music? I love this song.
Great song and Artist. Great Reaction
I think pink houses are kinda obvious and represent the American Dream. That's what I thought of back in the 80's. Maybe people back then thought that was lame back then but I think a lot of people would like them today. Better than a tiny house!
Soooo many good songs to choose from. I think “Peaceful World” would be up your alley because of the good message and vibe. Mellencamp duets on that one with India Arie.
He grew up around Kokomo, IN, and I believe the majority of the locations in the video were shot in the area.
Thanks for bringing back some very fond memories of stomping around that neck of the woods in my younger days!
John grew up in Seymour,In………Lives in Bloomington,In now.
@@Indy1831 I didn't say "in" Kokomo, and the reason I said "around" is because I remember an interview from back in the day where he actually spoke quite a bit about Kokomo from his past.
You need to do Rain On The Scarecrow and Small Town by John.
Check out ( check it out ) paper and fire both from John meloncamp
Please react to Jackie Brown by John Mellencamp
"Little pink houses" is this: It would be wrong to complain, but is this really all we get? And if it is all we get, SHOULD it be all we get? And, on the other hand, there's nothing in the song that suggests that we've done anything to deserve more. "Little pink houses" is a silly image that profoundly asks us to consider everything about ourselves, our lives, and our country.
Everyone wants to see the videos...you need to make them bigger...
Most of the time I just skip it...because we can't even see it.
My subscribers are here for my reactions and commentary. If the video was larger it would’ve been blocked and then you wouldn’t have the chance to complain.
@@tashajackson Nah. Just trying to help you girl.
Making it bigger isn't what gets it blocked.
You really don't know this by now? That is surprising.
You do a great job Tasha. Keep it up. Also you have a very beautiful smile!
@@bjbarrett629 Creeper much lol.
