    Great video. Very informative. I'm really enjoying this series. It may seem strange to you but for new anglers, the terminology is not always understood. For example, "look for structure." Is structure a natural point, rocks, etc. or does that include a brush pile. What is a stake bed? Never heard of it before today. What constitutes a flat? This may be simple stuff for people who grew up on the water. But a lot of videos sound like going to the doctor's office, they are talking in English but they use a lingo non medical people aren't familiar with. Same with fishing. My guess is a lot people watch youtube to learn more about fishing, but it is difficult sometimes to follow if you are not familiar with the terminology. Thanks for creating this series. It seems to me that a lot content on youtube is just showing off, look how many fish I caught. Look how easy it is for me, but they never teach you how. After awhile it is like watching reruns of Gunsmoke. Same plot, same story, different characters. Thanks for making this series engaging and informative.

    Great content! I struggle on my home lake! Main lake channel is 80-120 ft deep, secondary channels are around the 60-80ft range and don’t find any thing under 25-30ft until your 20ft from the bank or all the way at the back of the creeks and even then the bottom is on a 30 degree angle. The few spots that are 25 ft of water or less are pounded community holes that generally have 5-10 boats on them all day. I find most of my fish suspended in the tops of trees over 50-60 ft of water. And our water is pretty darn clear. Our docks are all float docks so you can’t flip under them, and most have lifts in the bays making it difficult to utilize but I do catch a few off the docks now and then, but they are mostly over 35-40ft of water and seem to be the dead sea under them most of the time,lol. I watch tons of videos but never seems to translate to our lake. Any advice for deep reservoirs.

    I really needed this video as I struggled with the proper use of electronics to accurately locate and then target Crappie. Well done once again! Thank you for sharing your knowledge! God bless!

    It works! Last winter I could find 'em on Chic, but not Watts Bar - so frustrating, sometimes wouldn't even see a fish despite having LOTs of waypoints that had been good the other three seasons. Didn't understand what was different. Turns out lots of my Chic waypoints just happened to be on or near the creek channel, my WB on flats. Went out yesterday found at least three good spots - one on a point, the others near the creek channel. Still curious about the winter depth range

      Me to Sir. I hope these videos ends up being a long line of awesome videos on every aspect of the illusive crappie. Hard fir me to get into and figure out the mind of a crappie. Maybe I’m just overthinking and need to keep it more simple with myself is what I am learning. I bass fished for years. But crappie fishing is no comparison. A lot of people can catch bass, but not everyone can always catch crappie. At least not me anyway. Even with live-scope, it’s not that much easier. Helps to find them, but the task of making them eat when they are hush mouthed is hard to figure out. Thanks to Matt I am learning. Awesome series of videos in a frame as that a country boy can understand. I hope to see this being a ten or more video series.

    Another great video. Thank you very much sir. I have problems with side scan. Still do but working on it. Live-scope I almost have it down pat. Very good information Matt. I really appreciate your time and how you speak and keep your videos clean and very respectful and helpful. Keeping it common and not to quick. Using the roadways as a tool. Great common sense info. Thank God for another day and his salvation. Have an awesome day sir, thanks again. I have struggled with crappie movements and you helped me greatly.

    Creek/main river channels regardless of depth? You've mentioned 12-22 feet is that seasonal? I'm glad you showed some of the structure right under the boat, but more important ones off to the side. Its easy to spot the things you just happen to go right over, much more difficult to see them when not right in the water column

    Like you, I set my Helix 10 to 50' either way, and that makes sense. ...but have you seen the latest video from ACC? The guy scans 150' either way... but then he splits screen for 100' At first I thought it was crazy, something would have to be big to see on the 150 screen, right? ...but maybe that;s the idea. Thoughts?

  • @scottoverstreet

    I don't want to be too critical because I like your instruction technique and ALL your videos. But, it would be very helpful to show me what these points and different structure looks like to the eye and not just the screen. TY

    Very informative, but what are the stakes you are talking about. Not familiar with that where I’m at. Excuse the ignorance.

    • @WiredforCrappie
      @WiredforCrappie  Рік тому +3

      The stake beds are areas where other anglers have driven bamboo stakes into the lake bed. That is what I am referring to as stakes.

    Matt I have a question at 11:25 in the video. There was a flat on right hand side of the bottom depth finder. Would at be a good place for a steak bed 😮

    At sometime could you talk about the other thing seen on side imaging? Like at 8:20, is the huge blob on the screen a bait ball?

    Hey Matt, I'm loving the series and learning alot even after crappie fishing for 20 years. Thank You, I do have a question, when searching for fish or new structure do you have a "magic" depth you like to stay in or do you just search the features points, channels bends etc... and if so does that depth change season to season than k s again

    • @WiredforCrappie
      @WiredforCrappie  Рік тому

      Time of year dictates depth, however if I had to pick a depth for year round it would be 15 to 18 ft
