Matt Smith sold the inner rage of the Doctor better than even the more "serious" doctors. Eleven could be so whimsical but it was all just to hide the pain.
@@natashadaines7712 yet I have to give "Fury of a Time Lord" some consideration. That was the first time I felt the inner demons of a timelord bubble to the surface. Then the previous DR. what might seem strange Eccleston's exuberance when "Rose , just this Once, everyone LIVES!' sets the stage. Life exuberates him but life getting extinguished INFURIATES him beyond reason , really sets the stage for "FURY"
That is still my favorite quote by the Doctor. "In the future when you talk about this, you tell people you had a chance but you were so much less than the best of the Humanity."
It's seriously cutting to anybody with an actual conscience. He straight up called her a bad person, but did it in a way that was somehow simultaneously harsher and yet less provocative than saying it outright.
“ I’ll bring unit, I’ll bring the cyber men, gimme a minute & I’ll bring the daleks, YOU WILL SAVE CLARA OR I WILL REIGN HELL ON YOU FOR THE REST OF TIME” capaldi always brings it man
its a shame we never got to see this doctor interact with the master he might have actually killed him in this regeneration especially considering that from his perspective this is his last body he wouldnt want the master to frolock around when he`s dead
Matt has floated the idea that if he ever came back it would be as the Master. We’d see him dressed as 11 but all mean and snarky. Then the shoe drops of it being the Master instead.
The reason why the eleventh doctor is the way he is is because after 10 being the most humane, he was the most alien-esque and was able to see the problems with people and could separate himself from them without being hubristic
11 also believed himself to be at the end of his life- the final Doctor of the original regeneration cycle. He was the only Doctor who didn't expect to be able to regenerate ever again. I think knowing that retroactively enhances many of these scenes.
I've watched every episode from the very first William Hartnell episode until I could stomach no more of Jodie Whittaker half way through her first series. Matt Smith in my opinion is the best of them all.
The thing is, I think Tennant and Capaldi matched his intensity very well, but Smith had such a capability to pull off both the fun, carefree Doctor and the intense, traumatized Doctor in a way nobody has before or since. The most complete Doctor imo (Gatwa is close for me tho)
@@MaybeItsGasI don’t think Gatwa comes anyway near Matt’s portrayal, especially not yet, it’s too early to say. He’s good, and has potential, but needs to flesh his incarnation’s personality out better.
"The Anger of a good man is not a problem. Too many rules." Um...clearly she has never heard the term "There is nothing more terrifying than the wrath of a Kind Man."
Hate that quote so much. Unless that good man is capable - there's nothing he can do even with all of his rage besides making people laugh. There's a saying in my country that roughly translates to "Good must have fists". Americans have a similar saying about walking softly and carrying a big stick
one thing i don’t rlly appreciate about 11 in the later seasons is that they start kinda acting like the dr’s anger is rare and scary even tho 11 was pretty consistently quick to anger during series 5 and i actually rlly liked that about him, i would be fine with it if it was something he just grew out of like with 9’s development, but they straight up act like it never happened
Maybe it's just me, but with the cinematography and the lighting darkening half of Eleven's face when Matt turns to face Madam Kovarian...if the Valeyard ever comes back, I'd want Matt to be the one playing him.
Having Madame vastra hiss as the doctor raises his voice is such a brilliant touch. Like even this ninja lizard woman shivers when the doctor gets angry.
Well I mean not every doctor has to come up against the same villain every time, like every new doctor has to have a checklists of villains to be checked off. No, not every doctor has to tick those boxes, and for what, just to cross that villain off the list? Like you have some obsession with tradition, pathetic.
That's one thing I liked about the 11th Doctor, he could be talking nonsense about lemonade taps and hammocks, and loving Fish Fingers and custards, but doesn't take anything from anyone.
Matt Smith was the very best at showing the Doctor angry. Though this vid seems to show more of him being told off than being Angry. It should’ve included a bit more from the Weeping Angels trying to make him angry, the scene where he discovers what they did to that space creature for the Queen to live on (No one human gets to talk to me today) that really showed some rage.
Yeah, I feel abit bad for the guy though, not to say he doesn’t deserve it but the woman was the one in charge iirc right? Felt like she should’ve been punished just as much

Seems to me that The Doctor should apply the cruel math that sometimes needs to be done every time he encounters Daleks. The idea of keeping himself is one thing, but sometimes things need smiting.

But now, seeing how emotional 15 is being, I wonder, what will happen if they really piss him off? I feel like we could have another ruthless doctor like 11 (and 10 too)
15 is interesting... He's definitely the most emotional one, and seems to have finally gotten his negative emotions in check after 14 taking a break=P... I'm sure he'll get pushed to his breaking point eventuallly, then we'll se if gatwa can keep this emotional intensity going with rage as well...
