5’ 11”, I run the 13” vented. It’s perfect for what I want. It allows plenty of air to my face, keeps it off my chest, and doesn’t obstruct my vision at all. For complete wind protection, I would have to go 15” (which still wouldn’t keep it totally off my face) non vented. But, for my tastes and what I want from a windscreen, I love the 13” vented. I have no complaints whatsoever with it.
Once the weather warms up I'll probably switch my 15 to the 13 vented. I like how the vented version prevents the air/wind being too focused in one area.
Hi we’re the same height.. would you recommend the 15 inch for everyday use? Memphis shades has a 17 inch but I feel it will look to big on my 22 streetbob? Any advice helps🙏🏽
Thanks for sharing the Memphis Road Warrior windshield review! I also find the vented works much better so I went further by cuting off some section of the fairing which is behind the windshield to allow more flow to reduce the vacuum section between the body and behind the fairing.
First! Too bad about the mic not being plugged in - it happens! Glad the vented one worked well for ya - that's why HD put the vent in the fairing for Project Rushmore touring bikes - at least, that's why I THINK they did it... that and making rider's beards stop flapping up in the wind :D
Have you ever tried adding wind deflectors on the forc tubes and how it effects windflow on your chest/face, naturally in combination with the Warrior fairing? On my 1700 Nomad I have a batwing and I have tested with stock deflectors, Without deflectors and with bigger (DIY) deflectors. I can tell you that the forc deflectors have a massive(!) impact on airflow around ones chest and head area. It is waaay better in every aspect, possibly apart from looks.
For what it’s worth I think a vented windshield really helps with the buffeting. It helps distribute the wind a little more evenly so that it’s not focused all in one spot
trying to figure out if a 15” will obstruct my vision, would a 15” be too tall for you, I’m 5’ 10”. The 13” seems to be pretty standard for most riders.
I am 5’9” and the 15 inch is PERFECT. I look right over the top, though with the smoke shield, you can still see plenty fine through the shield even at night.
@@DiggitySchwag I went with the 13” vented shield and had it on for a couple weeks now, I get buffeting at 90mph but it’s a lot better than no windshield at all, I do want to try the 15” though because I can see over the top of mine easily
When measuring for the windshield are the different measurements for the different sized windshields taken from the very top of the Road Warrior fairing or from where the windshield sits down in and gets bolted on?
The fairing adds roughly 3" to the height of the windshield. Ex: From the headlight opening to the top of a 11" windshield is 14" (Memphis Shades website source)
What are your thoughts on the vents when it’s cold outside? I am currently running the 11” without vents. I’m trying to decide between 13” w/vents, 15” with vents, and 15” without. 22 FXLRS with the saddleman seat. Thank you!
The vents def allow more air to come through which can help with the buffering aspect but during colder months I’m running a 15 non vented. I might switch it up to the 13 vented in the summer to get some air flow. Hope that helps!
Thank you! I think I will end up doing the same. I just wasn’t sure what your experience is as far as the 15” non vented in the summer. Keep up the great content!
I'll give my perspective. Get heated gear. I have a heated liner and gloves. I also make sure my neck is covered and use a pinlock. One of the things I also do is shove a beanie cap between my chin and the helmet to prevent cold air from coming in my helmet. I ride my sportster to work on a one hour commute and have done it in 23 degree weather. I could easily ride longer if I wanted to. the vented shield keeps your head from moving around and the gear keeps you warm. If you can manage those two things, winter riding is easy to do.
@@dwaynep4046 It actually makes it worse lol. I’m still much more happy with this fairing than I was without it. It made 1000 mile trips possible as to where before, I would get fatigued after just a few hundred. A messy beard is a sacrifice I’m happy to make.
The vent is designed to fill the negative pressure behind the sheild, hence the less amount of air you felt on your helmet trying to fill the void

@@IronBornRider so do you use 15 non vented in colder months? We're about the same height
@@ZBULLET523 that’s correct

Thanks! Never thought about that, sounds like a good diy project
I'm 5' 8" got 15" vented. It's money!!! 🤙🏾
I found the trade off with the wind on your chest pushes air up under your chin increasing wind noise in a full face helmet. Great vid!
Thanks for the info!
That screen looks really cool on your bike. I'm considering screens for my Interceptor 650.
Thanks! It’s great to have a mix of form and function

Lol about the beards. I was really surprised how the vents helped. Thanks John!

I’ve heard that wind deflectors can be a big help but haven’t found anything for my model bike
Thanks for this review. Trying to decide what would help and as you said, there is not much info on vented vs. non.

Put fork deflectors on my2017 heritage, does make a difference, I keep them on all year round.
Good job running that first stop sign😮
Haha you got me
I'm getting the vented one for sure
Vented for the win!

I know when I ran the road warrior it was better than the nonvented version. Still too much buffeting for my big dome
