A rare case where all levels actually make the same thing. Usually it’s Level 1 - here’s a quick & cheap version. Level 2 - I’m going to make a higher level version. Level 3 - Screw this. I’m making something completely different.
Yep. Southeastern US resident here, and in my 36 years of life, I’ve only ever seen a non-angel/pound cake version a handful of times. Even the pre made ones are trying to emulate those rather than a biscuit.

@@henryault458 great ideas I'll add more too 4 levels of pecan pie 4 levels of shrimp scampi 4 levels of Minestrone soup 4 levels of red velvet cake 4 levels of pumpkin pie
@@solfeldman1326, thanks for the additional ideas. They all sound great, except for the Pecan Pie idea but that’s only because I am allergic to tree nuts.
Oh, it's been a hot minute since we've seen Rose! I like the messy look that Gina had for her finished product. It has that sort of rustic appeal that uhh, I remember there was an Italian pizza on here that looked kinda rough but it looked 10/10 too
I wish they put the recipe to the level 3 cake in the description like they have with some of their other dishes before 😔 the biscuit shortcake version is nice and all but a light fluffy cake that isn’t super sweet sounds great
Happy to see a familiar face : Rose! It's been a while!😃 also great to see Billy and Gina again! their On The Spot episode with Chef Saúl still makes me laugh😂😂
Yay, you're back! It's easy to make whipped cream out of heavy cream, a bit of sugar and a bit of vanilla. It's delicious! I've used small blenders or an immersion blender to do it. The hardest part is cleaning the tools. Once you do that, there's no need to return back to canned whipped cream!
Wow--a whole new set of absolute STARS. I certainly have my faves from past episodes, but it's nice to know that they have a very deep bench. Really also liked that the three versions are quite different from each other, without going outside the boundaries. I think #2 is the best one for us mere mortals.
I have always looked forward to Rose's scientific breakdown of the processes. Man I've learned so much from this series and I have put it into practice and the results are amazing 👏
Billy so real because my friends were telling me about their whipped cream recipes and adventures and though I'd like to try them myself, I will definitely just be buying reddi whip for the lazy days.
Level 3 chef clearly shown what top chef level is compared to the others. No disrespect to them but Chef level 3 just showed off her skill set like a pro (Well she is a pro)
My strawberry shortcake secret: use soda bread! It's ridiculously fast and easy to make, and if you don't use raisins or anything it's basically like a cakey biscuit.
These all look really tasty! I appreciate the speed and straightforwardness and humor of level 1, the flaky scone texture of the level 2 and her strawberries looked the tastiest beautiful deep red color, and the level 3 chef I just know that cake was so moist and busting with delicious citrus strawberry flavor plus diplomat cream is always so so good!!
I guess I make level 1/2 for this one. I use shortcakes that are premade. Maserated strawberries that haven't actually sat long enough to let the juice out. And then canned whip on top. :D
Growing up, my home church would pull the fathers and the kids from the sanctuary on Mother's Day Sunday, where we would go to the kitchen and make strawberry shortcakes for the social hour after the service. It was much more in line with the level 2, though we wouldn't cook the strawberries, just let them soak in sugar. Still, it's just fantastic. I'm sorry, Billy... I don't think I could ever bring myself to use those kinds of biscuits, but you do you.
The can of ready to bake biscuits was a surprise, for Level 1 I'd use what we used growing up: Shortcake Dessert Cups, and Cool Whip is another option vs Ready Whip.
in bakeries we actually go through 2 vessels of cracking eggs before we add it to the final bowl lmao. one small pitcher for in case an eggshell falls in, one bigger pitcher to measure it by, and then its finally added to the bowl
The novice guy is right in this instance. It's so easy to make a delicious strawberry shortcake with store bought berries, Reddiwhip (it's not Coolwhip), and biscuits. But there are actual buttermilk biscuits sold in the supermarket that don't come in a can. They would be the superior choice.
when slicing strawberries for cake or dessert like this i always use an egg slicer. Gets mostly even slices of strawberry a lot faster prepped than with knife.
Any chance we could get some ultra healthy recipes to balance out this amazing cake recipes? I struggle with making healthy veggie sides and entres that taste good
Truly Billy is a man after my own heart. Though I will admit if I had a choice I would probably pick Gina's version. I feel like the chefs always get way too fancy in these comparisons and end up deviating into something almost entirely different. Like Umber made a Lemon-strawberry custard pound cake. Which I am sure is quite delicious and looked amazing, but is it really still strawberry shortcake at that point?
Instead of Pillsbury canned biscuits I much prefer the frozen. They don't have that canned flavor like all of these things like Crescents and the cinnamon rolls. Also I only cook the number I want fresh without leftovers. For homemade I use a simple ATK drop biscuit recipe with added sugar and fresh, sugared strawberries. OMG the expert dessert must be to die for, but I'm not making it.😅
"i can neither confirm or deny if i heard of Diplomat cream, its a diplomatic answer"🤣🤣🤣🤣
😅😅😅
Yeah, I like that guy
This guy is a gem❤️
"it's not too sweet"
honestly my highest form of a compliment for a dessert too LOL
I love Level 2 & 3. It's not making it complicated, it's about wanting to give yourself or your loved ones the best you can make. Excellent.
A rare case where all levels actually make the same thing. Usually it’s Level 1 - here’s a quick & cheap version. Level 2 - I’m going to make a higher level version. Level 3 - Screw this. I’m making something completely different.
You're absolutely rigth. She made a "Fraisier" a french cake 😊
Nice to see the chef actually just make the fanciest version of using thier experience and skills, instead of trying to reinvent the concept.
Idk only one made a cake
And then there was Penny that would put booze in everything. I miss Penny
@@IndescribablyMeI agree. I never heard of a shortcake made with biscuits until now.
I had no idea a shortcake was usually scone-like. I've only ever seen it with pound cake or (FAR more commonly in my area) angel food cake!
I like angel food cake, but it's so much airier than the other two.
Same here, the angel food variety is most popular.
Yep. Southeastern US resident here, and in my 36 years of life, I’ve only ever seen a non-angel/pound cake version a handful of times. Even the pre made ones are trying to emulate those rather than a biscuit.
I vastly prefer the scone/biscuit version
Midwest here, and usually here they're sponge or angel food cake. I've heard of the biscuit kind, but have never actually had one.

I'll meet you all in the garden for that Aperol Spritz.
BILLY WAS GREAT! BRING HIM BACK FOR MORE! MORE BILLY PLZ! 💯
"We all make our own choices in life"
I'd buy Umber's cake, I'd try to make Gina's cake, I'd end up making Billy's cake. And I want an Aperol Spritz with Billy.

I saw Rose on History Channel's Foods that Built America. I got excited and told my mom, : "Hey, I knew her before she got cable channel famous!"
I wish they put the recipe to the level 3 cake in the description like they have with some of their other dishes before 😔 the biscuit shortcake version is nice and all but a light fluffy cake that isn’t super sweet sounds great
It would be wonderful if all the levels could taste each others food, it would help everyone experience something different.
Oh, missed the series
I know right I was like did they stop for some reason
Keep bringing Billy back! He is SO funny.
Level 3: make a complicated cake.
Level 2: make a slightly less complicated cake.
Level 1: there it is, cake is cake.
level 1 barely didnt even do a cake

I miss this 3 levels cooking!!!!!!! ❤😂😂😂😂
accurate title, nobody watches the fourth at the end haha
Correct title. The actual title is a misnomer: it's 3 levels of cooking and 1 level of analysis. I watch the ending/analysis, I like Rose!
@@bnbronsteinThe ending is the only part I watch lol.

A grind of black pepper on the strawberries REALLY opens up their flavour. 👍

All of them looked delicious! Thank you to all the chefs, Billy, Gina and chef Ahmed and dame Trout, you did a great job!
I usually just use the Angel cake cups you find premade at the grocery store for strawberry shortcake
Pls bring back taste testers guess which is the expensive vs cheaper product!!!
I want that too, but it seems kinda hard nowadays because they covered almost everything and its hard to think of a topic now.
@@zerocrusade2531 Also everything is expensive and "expensive vs. more expensive" just won't draw as many clicks.
One of the few times the Level 3 completely outclasses the other two.
