Wonderful starter tips ...even for those of us that has been in the handmaking business for some time. Love it❤️🥰. I too stop custom orders. Being a doll maker... custom orders can get a little crazy. It does take a lot of time to customize any item. It takes me one month to make a doll with full details...And having to customize one is way to much for me. And there are some things that I will not do when it comes to doll making🤔🙄. So custom orders are a no for me! I use what I have and they purchase what I post. That works best for me. You are amazing Tracy. Your tips are $$$$$$$$$$ and I know for a fact that they works. I enjoy your videos very much from Singapore! Personally I do upcycling but find it hard to sell. The reason is, every piece takes so much time to create, so it is difficult to put a price tag acceptable to normal people who perceive upcycle = cheap.
You are so generous and kind. I have always wanted to do what you have done. As a little girl my family could not afford extras. I made little cloth bags and sold them to friends at school to earn enough for my school trip. I think I sold them for 10 cents. I’m so excited to give this my best effort. I don't know how I missed this video in going through your shop but so glad I found it! I hate that you questioned if you were going on too much because I wish it had been longer. You just are a wealth of knowledge, and I wish I had you close by sometimes, to say "what do you think about this?" (I do not mean that in a weird way, lol.) I've been selling for quite a few years now, mostly cloth handbags made from fabrics bought at thrift stores and crochet items mostly made out of yarns I bought at thrift stores but I stopped about 4 years ago. I have a FB page but it really needs a revamp. I haven't used it for quite some time. I've updated some of the items that are shown there but have not yet taken photos. I'm trying to get 'it' together so I can work on the group and add new photos. I have so much lace, doilies and fabric that would be suitable to make items similar to what you make. I have to get out of this slump; watching you, Tracy, is helping and a great pleasure. Thank you for what you do! ♥

I have played around with making 'boho' sorts of things for myself, family and friends and really enjoy the process - composition with fabrics, jewelry, notions, etc. My primary 'art' is more realistic painting, horse/dog portraiture - but I love playing with fabric and all that comes with it. Next time I have a booth at a weekend show - might have to actually bring a few pieces of my 'boho' fabric creations - just to see if people like them enough to buy them! These trade secrets you're sharing give a starter (admittedly late starter!) like me the excitement to keep creating. Now question time - do you think there's still room on Etsy for a first time seller to gain traction? Do you think someone with 0 sales and 0 reviews can break in, or are perhaps sales to friends and family needed to get some "proof" before we might rank well and start making real sales? For the shop name on Etsy, I'm using a long name for the shop, with no characters left for my own name. Would it make sense to change the shop name to at least include my own, like "by JDoe"? or just "JDoe"? Many, many thanks! ❤❤❤❤❤
I like the idea of your name for your profile. Starting etsy from scratch can feel a little deflating, I would make a note in your descriptions at first. Say something like, "I am just starting my etsy shop, although I am new here, please buy with confidence, my items are created with care and love and your satisfaction is of the utmost importance to me". Good luck with your sewing class! My purse prices varied, when I did custom orders I wouldn't do one for less than $350, but I've also sold bags under $100. My highest selling bag (Ebay auction) was $600.💞💞💞

I've been selling for quite a few years now, mostly cloth handbags made from fabrics bought at thrift stores and crochet items mostly made out of yarns I bought at thrift stores but I stopped about 4 years ago. I have a FB page but it really needs a revamp. I haven't used it for quite some time. I've updated some of the items that are shown there but have not yet taken photos. I'm trying to get 'it' together so I can work on the group and add new photos. I have so much lace, doilies and fabric that would be suitable to make items similar to what you make. I have to get out of this slump; watching you, Tracy, is helping and a great pleasure. Thank you for what you do! ♥

I have played around with making 'boho' sorts of things for myself, family and friends and really enjoy the process - composition with fabrics, jewelry, notions, etc. My primary 'art' is more realistic painting, horse/dog portraiture - but I love playing with fabric and all that comes with it. Next time I have a booth at a weekend show - might have to actually bring a few pieces of my 'boho' fabric creations - just to see if people like them enough to buy them! For the shop name on Etsy, I'm using a long name for the shop, with no characters left for my own name. Would it make sense to change the shop name to at least include my own, like "by JDoe"? or just "JDoe"?

I like the idea of your name for your profile. Starting etsy from scratch can feel a little deflating, I would make a note in your descriptions at first. Say something like, "I am just starting my etsy shop, although I am new here, please buy with confidence, my items are created with care and love and your satisfaction is of the utmost importance to me".

I’m starting to take sewing classes on Sunday… They said I need to learn how to put the thread through the needle first so that’s where I’m starting lol eventually I’ll get to you your level God willing lol I’m going to put lots of hard work into it… How much would those purses go for if you were selling them
Good luck with your sewing class! My purse prices varied, when I did custom orders I wouldn't do one for less than $350, but I've also sold bags under $100. My highest selling bag (Ebay auction) was $600.💞💞💞
