Hands down the most underrated line in the game is when Faustin says "Dimitri will turn on you as well, you shall discover this." At the time you think Faustin's crazy but he was spot on.

Nah I really doubt it, he only started trying to kill Niko after Ray told him to. He even tried to get Faustin to stop him from getting Kenny killed but he couldn't convince him. He probably wasn't even Niko had a past with Ray until he spoke him him after Final Destination (when he calls you and tells you he's gonna talk to some people, he probably went to Ray asking him for protection or to get him to contact Kenny, he must have mentioned Niko's name which got Ray's attention). Hell, he was still friendly to you during The Master And The Molotov, so he must have told him about this past while Niko was killing Faustin.

Karel Roden as Mikhail Faustin is an award-worthy performance. Characters like him and his wife Ilyena made this game feel like it was REAL, not a cartoon. He's probably my favorite character. He's intense, violent, has a hair trigger temper, and is basically on the fast track to self destruction, but I got the sense he was also heartbroken...in lots of pain. He loved Dimitri like a brother, gave years of his life bringing him up, and I think he saw Dimitri's darker ambitions clearly very early on. Somewhere along the line, he realized his partner would eventually betray him, and that Dimitri had been insidiously manipulating and inching his way closer and closer to toppling his rule for a long while now, carrying on the facade of a rational, loyal business partner; lying to his face, making decisions behind his back, even plying him with painkillers...I think this is what broke him: Realizing his closest ally; his best friend he would have given his life for, was really his greatest enemy. ("Something changed in him...years ago..") All these sudden rage fits, coke use, and reckless decisions Faustin made were a furious, last ditch effort to sabotage the reputation and organization they had built together, in the hopes of leaving some major heat for Dimitri to deal with when he inevitably takes over. Unfortunately, this unhinged violence ended up being just what Dimitri needed to turn Niko and the criminal underworld of Hove Beach against him. When he is confronted in Perestroika, he is defeated but not even surprised. All he could do was put up a prideful final fight, and use his last moments to warn Niko of Dimitri's true nature. It's ironic, but true; He was TOO KIND to him. He let the snake into the nest, watched him coil in wait for years, finally striking as soon as the moment was opportune, and he let it happen because he could not bring himself to actually confront or kill his beloved 'brother' Dimitri, even after he had long since realized his treachery. Really a tragic story of betrayal.
If you like this actor and this role, check him out in the movie "Running Scared." He plays another Russian gangster, and also happens to be my favorite character in that story as well.

That's not right, Niko loathed Vlad, but he didn't appear to have anything personal against Mikhail. Vlad was an asshole, disrespectful towards him and his cousin, used to call him "yokel", threatened their lives and fucked Roman's wife as the last straw. You could see him relish killing him. Mikhail, on the other hand, actually saved Niko's life, forgave him for killing his employee and was always kind of friendly and respectful towards him. He only killed him to save his own life, as Faustin had brought things to a point where there was no other way.

This, imo, is the best GTA game in the series (with SA a close second, and V a close third) and certainly one of the best games of all time (including Episodes from LC)
The best stories, characters, beautiful city setting (the grim, dark ghettoes and the bright sprawling metropolis emulating NYC just screams "jungle of crime and corruption and endless possibilities" more than the sunny, beachy Los Santos in V) and serious tone with touches of humor is better than the goofy cartoonish violence and humor in V. And V is still very good, but IV just gives a much more compelling and down to earth story and atmosphere.

For some reason, Mikhail's and Dimitri's friendship reminds me of Billy Grey's and Johnny Klebitz's. Both were best friends for long time. Each of them has a similar intention. Dimitri and Johnny wanted to make money, although they're following their leaders' orders. Mikhail and Billy were both drug addicts of cocaine whose violent rashs brought problems to those around them, leading to their own demise. Although Johnny was betrayed by Billy, unlike Dimitri who double-crossed Mikhail, ended up having his former best friend killed out of his actions. One more significant common thing is that in the end they met the same fate, but in a different circumstances. Also, both Dimitri and Johnny were 39 years old by their deaths.

I feel sorry for him, Mikhail knew that Dmitry was a traitor, and wanted to warn Niko, one of whose characters I did not want to kill .

I kinda wish Niko didn't kill Faustin. He could have been more interesting in the story or possibly a random encounter

You reversed the truck into that shop? Nice driving skills! There are many things I didn't watch while playing; for instance, I didn't see the cutscene, where Faustin shot at Roman. It's a shame that Faustin turned into that, I bet he was a good man. Also, it's sad to watch how he treats his wife. :(
