I thought I was the only one who had Djent-related sidewalk thoughts 😂! Sometimes when I'm walking, I use my footsteps as a metronome and chug Djent patterns in my head 😂
The tiles reminded me of clips in a DAW, so I was expecting you'd play horizontally, not vertically. At 1:50 the small tiles almost look like full bars, with a few half bars thrown in. The gaps also line up reasonably well with the larger tiles. Just nudge it a tiny bit in Photoshop and it totally looks like a polyrhythmic arrangement of clips. Large tiles drums, small ones guitar tracks. With such a pattern, the guitar tracks would constantly flow together in weird ways. If this was my inspiration, and it currently is, I'd have no idea how to compose for that.
Haha, I guess I've played so many Guitar Hero-esque games on my drums lately I couldn't but see it bottom to top, coming "at" me as I as walking around. (: But interesting thought! If I ever make another video like this, I'll consider that process!
Haha, I've played a Guitar Hero-esque thing on my drums fairly regularly recently, so I guess I can't help but see patterns like this coming "towards" me : D
As a drummer, I will readily admit to having similar thoughts about the rhythm of pavement when walking city streets. I couldn't help but become fascinated with the time signatures of my strides + the length of blocks of pavement and the rhythms they created. This video was complete validation that I'm not the only nutso out there staring at dirty pavement with musical fascination! 😂 Are the guitars all midi generated with VSTs or are you recording them and just programming the drums/bass?
Haha, you and me both, it's nice to have found some validation from other people that I'm not the only one that sees the world this way. : D All guitars are recorded! I always "sketch out" a song or a section with all MIDI-instruments before I record it, so I can hear approximately what it sounds like before commiting to recording it. (: Drums and bass are MIDI though!
Fucking hell i love this. The kinda nerdy shit that only a musician could take seriously and want to put into practice :D. Oh oh, dude, this would actually somehow work as an idea for a rhythm game too possibly!! A djent rhythm game, oh my god i would love that, haha
I'd be curious to see/hear your thoughts on famous works of art now. Like, Vermeer's 'Girl Reading a Letter at an Open Window' (my personal favourite painting). Does it Djent? Did it djent better before the 2021 restoration? How about the Sistine chapel? Starry night? The Vetruvian man? Do they also djent?
Which sidewalk Djented the most? \o/
2nd
@barf marksman Awesome! : D

@HurbleGurble Nice! : D
The first one!
When I ask the real estate agent, "How progressive is this neighborhood?" I don't think he gets what I really mean.
Hahahaha x'D
good joke :D

Man it’s trippy hearing polyrhythms when walking around with people

How I know my brain isn't wired to create music: this video. I liked the progression between the tracks, 3 was my favorite.
Haha, to be fair, my brain got like this AFTER I've done tons of music, so.. : D
Answering the important questions right here
damn right
Since the 10Hour Procedural djenterated video I should’ve automatically SUBBED. Today I finally Subbed 😂🙌🏼 I love this.
Haha, I'm glad you like it! And thanks so much for the sub! : D
You know there's a 24/7 stream now, right?
@@notsure1969 absolutely 💕 great fuel for my workouts 🤓
Now I can't walk normally on sidewalks without hearing guitar chugging 🤣
Haha, welcome to my world : D
same haha, I will never unsee the polyrhythm patterns
*Slaps Sidewalk* - This djents so hard, you can fit all the dead notes into it.
Hahaha goddamnit x'D

I feel like this is the absolute hardest way to do visualizations... but the result is awesome
Thanks a lot! Took some time to get it right, but I'm happy with the results. : D
Pre-djented concrete medal 🏅👌
Need city blocks on Google overview
Hahaha : D
this is way too relatable, and as a bonus it sounds amazing 😎 I guess I should act on these kind of thoughts sometimes...
Haha, I'm glad to see now I'm not the only one with these thoughts x) I'm glad I acted on it and made a video this time : D
You're a genius, I am in Lovgren

Hahaha : D
"Wow this guy talks alot of stuff I need to hear, aaah already subbed, nice" think it's been like 3 times now, so I'm deffo with it xD
Haha, thanks for the sub! : D
Your way of thinking about music and creating this stuff is so awesome!! Djent is such a good genre for pure crazy patterns of irrational thinking! 😱
Haha, thanks so much! Djent is fitting genre for this weirdness, damn right : D
I saw it the other way with the lines going horizontally with beats creating a simple polyrhythm
Would be nice to try that as well! : D
this is absolutely brilliant! haha
Thanks a lot! : D
I've spent most of my adult life wondering what sidewalks sounded like.
Now I know.
It's djent.
finally this issue has been put to rest
How did I get here?
You're insane ❤️
"mom, can I keep it and call it sidewalk metal?"
Hahaha, this comment made me smile : D I'm glad you found your way here!
@@DennisMartenssonOfficial You definitely earned my sub, thanks man!
Your just great men!
Thanks a lot : D
I'm just surprised you saw this vertically. It clearly has regular divisions horizontally, giving interesting poly rhythms
Haha, I've played a Guitar Hero-esque thing on my drums fairly regularly recently, so I guess I can't help but see patterns like this coming "towards" me : D
Procedurally generated djent based on patterns in images? Would be cool to see.
That would be sick! Need to get into machine learning so I can make that happen : D
I. LOVE. THIS!!! ❤❤❤❤❤
lol love your videos dude
Thanks a lot!

MOAR DJENTY SIDEWALKS PLES
Haha, need to take another stroll through town soon then I guess : D
Один раз я ездил на поезде и он тоже издавал звук похожий на джент.
Nice! : D
I knew i wasn't the only one
Haha, that's what's been really fun after releasing this video - Seeing that apparently I'm not the only one who thinks this way : D
The first one seems like the djent version of "The beautiful people" 🤣
Haha, a bit maybe x'D
Yeah I thought the same! Not a bad idea btw.
@MrTubularBass Interesting you think so as well : D
Yes, it does, indeed, djent
Awesome! : D
This is Djentastic!!!
Thanks! : D
New album name: Pavement
Hahaha, love it!
This made me realize that I was a djenter even back when I was 5 years old, despite the fact I got into metal like 2 years ago.
haha same
As a mailman. I concur!
Hahaha x'D

Haha, don't think they Djent in an equally "obvious" way as those sidewalks, but I could probably find a way to make them! : D
Being like this sure makes our brains herta lot
haha yep
Honestly i thought it would be from left to right. Not from bottom up.
But still this is insane)
Think it was more interesting from the bottom up : D
lol This fucking rules.
When the sidewalk listens to Meshuggah once
it do happen sometime
TIL: sidewalks do infact Djent
They do indeed!
That last sidewalk was so fucking sick, is there tabs for it??
⚜️x🤘🏻x⚜️
Thanks for checking the video out! : D
Streets now dejnt. Walking will be never the same. next time: concrete patterns within industrial walls. Does they djent?
if i have my way *everything* will djent
Dude you are like the Bill Nye of metal.
Haha, taking that as a huge compliment! Thanks!
Progresive Sidewalk Metal?
Walk Metal?
Side Metal?
SideDjentWalk?
DjentWalk?
SideDjent?
yes
I really think most everything djents as long as it djents.
Indeed!
"But does it djent?"... Well, actually as it just so happens....
you found meshuggah secret source
Hahaha x'D
För helvete
för allt hel i vete
very cool, but is it polyrhythms really? or odd meter? or both? Sorrrry, but i just want to understand :)
Yep, it's an odd time signature beat running over a 4/4 rhythm. (:
@@DennisMartenssonOfficial Ahhh okay, thanks for the reply!!
Good idea Man, but for me the sidewalk doesn't Djent, you make better than the sidewalk
i would hope i'm better than a sidewalk : D
@@DennisMartenssonOfficial ufff of course you better than It!
Djentwalks?
Haha, exactly!
watched the video. still not sure whether you like djent or not
This reminds me of when we wrote "The Peter Pan Complex" using 8-6-7-5-3-0-9 for the breakdown.
Haven't heard that! Is that a song? : D
