I would love more Rhythm instructional videos and workouts! Great video! That trick for counting quarter note triplets looks pretty useful, let's see if I finally get to count them right!
Me drum man with tip. How i learned to feel the rhythm of quarter note triplets was to tap in eighth note triplets, then move my hand into the air away from hitting while playing at the same speed. You could also heavily accent the right hand for the same effect, and it helps with subdivision in your head while playing.
Loved this video. I understand basic rhythm but working with rests and different note values such as quintuplets and septuplets really helped level up my knowledge. Cant wait to work on this. Id love a rhythm video with odd meters as well!
The pentuplets and septuplets seem really useful for shred solos, when 16th triplets or straight 16ths are too slow/fast, it's another way to fit the shred to the beat.
My first instrument was the drums so luckily it transfers heavily over with the ability to be rhythmically correct, makes me appreciate it a lot more lol
Yes, please more rhythm! I struggle with counting time signatures and understanding how this all comes together. This video was a "very again" great video!
I really appreciate this video, i won’t lie i wasn’t expecting to actually see something that explores into good sections of rhythmic control. Nothing too crazy but it’s very well made for comprehension. I would love some more nitty gritty videos that explain how to play rhythms more comfortably like the ones seen by people like Tigran Hamasyan.
after watching the video and following you I just realized that the way I practiced all this time was wrong.. and the answer is that my guitar playing has not improved all this time even though I have practiced a lot but it is still difficult to play cleanly and accurately... you saved me bernth, not only did you teach about practicing the right way.. even made me appreciate the meaning of patience and discipline to achieve something like you did...tqsm keep helping and working dude
Another way to understand quarter note triplets is to feel the half note and play a triplet against it. If you practice going back and forth between feeling a quarter and a half then you can do this very very easily.
nice exercises, i do suff like this when i don't have a guitar and some free time, clapping tuplets and syncopated rhythms to a metronome is quite helpful
Bro... If you are not suscribed, DO IT! It helps Bernth a lot! You are watching this for free and it takes precious time to make a video like this... It´s the least we can do for him! Do it, bruh, lay a hand to the Bernth shred guitar community!
"Please. Let's both of us stop trying to justify this whole thing and admit you're -in danger- not a good player." "Who are you talking to right now? Who is it you think you see? Do you know how much I -make- shred a year? I mean, even if I told you, you wouldn't believe it. Do you know what would happen if I suddenly decided to stop -going into work- practicing? A -business- band big enough that it could be listed on the -NASDAQ- Big Four tour goes belly up. Disappears! It ceases to exist without me. No, you clearly don't know who you're talking to, so let me clue you in. I _am_ -not in danger- a good player. I am the -danger- shredder! A guy -opens his door- turns on his UA-cam and gets -shot- blasted with insane licks and you think that of me? No. _I am the one who __-knocks-__ rocks!_ Cool t-shirt. :)
I'm so happy I was perfectly able to follow the rythm until that 7tuolet at the end, im NOT a fast nor a tight guitarist, but I suro do love and have practiced complex rythms before
A good hard strumming progression is show me the way by peter Frampton. There's subtle chord changes and odd rest. Definitely should check it out brotha. I know it's not your genre an I know this lesson isn't directly on that but that song is a good beginner to intermediate practice
I practice with the segment of drums until I can get it without mistakes, then record my riffs, then practice to what I recorded, and then after I’ve mastered what I’ve written I’ll re-record.
Any tips/opinions on how to best get used to quarter note triplets? Which method do you think works best and is most beneficial (I think probably D)? A) Just counting at half of the normal speed, and treating them like 8th note triplets (easy but is a crutch)/ B) not really counting them at all and just getting used to how they "feel"/ C) treating them as a polyrhythm (3:2) and practicing with clapping your hands (left hand 2 claps, right 3 claps)/ D) counting them like: ONE and A two AND a (which is basically what Bernth is doing as well). I understand the theory but they're really unintuitive to play for me.
Great to hear that you're satisfied with my answer. I don't have a telegram account as of yet, so I'll await your reaction accordingly. Stay metal in the meantime mate!
Should these also be practiced while tapping the foot on 1,2,3,4 ? Because that’s where everything short circuits in my brain. Reading the rhythm and tapping the beat at the same time is crazy hard for me
I need some serious help I do have usual guitar skills but I cant play with backing tracks or match with the drums. Would love if you post something related to this.❤️
When switching between 16th notes and triplets, should a new beat start with a downstroke? This is a very good and challenging video but I think a picking pattern explanation would do great with the workout.
This is a great lesson and everything is played with a downstroke. If he had been incorporating other notes and strings then yes absolutely a picking explanation would be helpful. so maybe in the future he'll do more complex rythms...🤘

Excellent lesson! We definitely need more of this. You want to play right you need to be able to keep the rhythm. It all starts with the rhythm.
This topic is crucially missing on UA-cam.
My 13 year old son is learning percussion, and this video blew his mind. I've been playing music for 24 years and it completely floored me. God damn.
The second day practicing these exercises is much easier than the first one.
Thanks for the lesson, and for making it musical. You rock 🤘

Fantastic video! Would love to see more rhythm teachings!
This is great. I've never had any interest in playing lead, rhythm is more fun. Really great video.
Yes, please more rhythm! I struggle with counting time signatures and understanding how this all comes together. This video was a "very again" great video!
i love what you doing here, grettings!!!

I love this. Please do more!
yeah I definitely learned I suck at rhythm. It was very very cool to watch and listen to what you were playing. Great video!
Holy shit... What a video... Thank you so much
nice exercises, i do suff like this when i don't have a guitar and some free time, clapping tuplets and syncopated rhythms to a metronome is quite helpful
That’s the best lesson I’ve watched since a long time. Maybe an explanation lesson about timing in more details would be amazing ❤
I learned i have a lot to learn. Thanks for the video
Very cool, I would like to see more rhythm stuff like this as well as the shredding
Level 4 and above literally turns into a meshuggah song
Insane!! Thank you 👍
For Counting:
Quintuplets: Hi-po-po-ta-mus
Septuplets: Al-ex-an-der-Ha-mil-ton
you make some of the best guitar lessons
Nice! Good Work!!!
This was great, more rhythm stuff would be hugely appreciated!
That's an awesome video! Please make more rhythm videos!
Swinging the 8th notes...that's an extra level of complexity right there...
Great video, your productions are fantastic
Some really great basics to help develop heavy metal rhythms.🙂
Love it!!! Thanks for the video lesson.
Exellent lesson ,you explain things very very well.
Fantastic lesson. Thank you.
This is great! Thank you!!
Rhythm excersices is a very basic thing that every beginner should know.
Bernth:
Killer lesson! Thanks a lot, Bernth!🤘😎🤝😉
I'd be curious to see a video on taking 000s breakdown rhythms and how to spice them up with notes in neat intervals! 🙏😎
Another great lesson, still can’t believe more people watching aren’t subscribed. What are they waiting for!
More rhythm videos like this!!
definitively it would be cool if you do more rhythm videos so we can work on those djenty chugs!
This was perfectttt. please do odd meters next!
Whoah!!!! Those super slow quarter note triplets were sick!!!!
My head hurts but I'm hooked
Quintuplets : u-ni-ver-si-ty
Septuplets : I-quit-u-ni-ver-si-ty

we need more rhythm exercises and tips!!!
I used to be able to count this stuff with formal brass musical training but I've absolutely lost it all and it's been a real struggle.
Thank you 👏
definitely do it for odd metter!
I love your videos and I would love to be playing just like you
Great rhytmic exercise. It will kick my ass, but it will pay off.
Good one. ✊🏻💯
perfect guitar teacher
I'm so happy I was perfectly able to follow the rythm until that 7tuolet at the end, im NOT a fast nor a tight guitarist, but I suro do love and have practiced complex rythms before

Who else was expecting Meshuggah's Bleed as level X?
4:01 lvl3
Love ya so much..
I dont even know how to read sheet music but i still somehow understand and can follow this.😂😂
Could I be the green ninja? XD
4th level is just a Meshuggah's song. Isn't it?
I'd love a whole rhythm course. I think this is where most people, myself included, are weak.
You remind me all these complex rythmics of meshuggah...
UA-cam subtitles be like: "Paul muted notes." 😆
Great to hear that you're satisfied with my answer. I don't have a telegram account as of yet, so I'll await your reaction accordingly. Stay metal in the meantime mate!
