There is another recording of this song on the Live from Memphis album.. As Elvis matured, the deep richness of his voice comes out. It is my absolute favorite recording of this same song.
My mom would say, with my dad sitting right there, that if Elvis pulled up and said get in, she'd get out of the car right there, leave it in the road and not even close the door. Pretty sure my dad believed her too.
Connery had presence and swag, but doesn’t hold a candle to Elvis’s charisma! Elvis twitches a shoulder and the women scream and men smile. Watch “Fever” from the Aloha from Hawaii, amazing vocals and rather funny how he can’t help laughing /smiling at the women screaming at the smallest moves. Oh man, that man had it like no other.
You know what, back then they were friends and they exchanged songs and ideas and riffs and whatever else they could without any of the hostility... Pretty much, for years. I heard Little Richard say something about one of his songs one time but in the next sentence he said that Elvis singing his song made his version have a whole new following. I don't think you can find too many people who knew Elvis who would say anything bad about him. Actually you can find a whole lot of the older musicians that really love Elvis. Watch Elvis Presley and the black community. Sadly there are always prejudices, but I believe anybody who reads and listens to Elvis would love him. You do, I do, most people do.
This was the 1968 comeback special...no auto tune or special effects, just Elvis's raw voice... Elvis had the looks, charisma , and Talent. No one can ever come close to him. He's the King 🤴
Exactlyyy it’s unreal😭😭 my brain cells are on overdrive seeing this much attractiveness entering my eye sockets at one time. They’re blown away and can’t process it & because of that my nervous system is overwhelmed and therefore feels like it’s gonna explode and it causes my body to want to cry tears of joy and overwhelmingness😂😂❤ help
Now you know why they call him the King. Elvis didn't rip off anyone's music, he grew up in Tupelo, Mississippi and Memphis, Tennessee - raised on southern gospel music, rhythm and blues and country music. He was a product of his environment. Check out what BB King said about Elvis. ua-cam.com/video/aznpMRCvK6s/v-deo.html
I so tired of hearing ppl say Elvis stole songs... Baby you can't steal something that u can't hold onto.. Obviously if Elvis sang it and made it his n kept it n brought light n love into it than(OH WELL IT WAS HIS) just like any other. Elvis always told the truth n saying he never wrote a song!!!!You want to fight talent??? Go ahead...I grew up on this music n Motown.....Does that mean I should have never enjoyed n appreciated these artists??? Some of my money paid their bills n made them bigger....So get over yourselves....
He lived it. He went to black churches when he was a kid. His black pastor talks about when Elvis sang in the church. That echo will never die. On UA-cam
@sandralybrand9425 Yeah they said " he stoled music from black people", today everyone is stealing. Music but they call it " Covering." Elvis was just great with everything he did..All the haters are jealous...
Elvis was Elvis. I remember the day that it came over the radio that he died. I was in Canada with my family. The thing was that he got addicted to amphetamines. Which happens to many of the artists. Drugs and alcohol. It's a sad story but it's the truth. He needed to keep going and his body decided differently
@Sinful Bastard Child yes. Whitney Houston, Robert Plant off the top of my head. I know there are more. These two are in you tube posts about the current day musicians and actors meeting Elvis. Oh, Steve Martin too. Go ahead, do a search of celebrities that met Elvis. Have fun. It’s real.
I've read and/or heard Priscilla Presley, Jerry Schilling, Rick Stanley and Reggie Young all say that you could FEEL the energy when Elvis entered a room or building, even if you couldn't see him.
Women loved and love Elvis because he had a great charisma, wasone of tthe most handsome man who came to earth , had one of the best voices. He had all the package. The great entertainer. People compare him with Michael Jackson but they can't be compared, Michael was great as artist too, one of the best but had not all ,😂
Elvis was a once-in-a-lifetime raw talent with all the tools,, great looks and charisma and so much soul, and such a versatile voice and was a kind generous soul. There has never been anyone like him since. He was the king of rock and roll.
This is from his TV show. He and his band are sitting in the center and all girls are around him. Loved his TV show. The men sat behind the females. It was great to watch.
I saw Elvis in concert in Oklahoma City, Nov 1955. He was 9th on a bill headed by Hank Snow. He was19; I was 18. But the word was out, and he was who we came to see. Super memory.
I don't understand why people are saying negative raseist things about him. He grew up poor as heck in Mississippi in a black neighborhood, went to a Baptist Church EVERY Sunday. He just had awesome talent! No hate people. Enjoy the talent.
Because some just don't get it. They see a white guy dressed up in a white suit late seventies not too active anymore and they assume. They don't know his back story, and it's easy to criticize when the person is not around to defend themselves. That's why there is a whole Elvis community of fans who will do it for him...
Not only was he dirt poor, his twin brother was born deceased plus his father did time in prison in Mississippi. Elvis made millions and gave most of it away.
He never played to an unsold seat. Better known by his given name than anyone else, his voice has been heard by more people than any other performer's. His motion pictures became box office triumphs on the strength of his name alone. His raw talent, which sprang from America's Southern backwoods, changed the course of popular music and culture. On the day Elvis Presley died--August 17, 1977--there was pandemonium outside his Memphis home and around the world. He was only 42, and to millions he was magic. Now producer David L. Wolper uses his camera to probe the mystique of a superstar in This Is Elvis.
This 1968 special was the real Elvis to me! I was 17 by then and been a fan since I was 5 listening with my older brother to his records. Too bad he got "managed" by crazy Col. Parker til he was exhausted in Vegas and needed drugs to keep up with the inhuman schedule. He had so much talent and charisma to begin with, it always does my heart good to see him with his early band mates just doing music to death. And he was naturally funny and kind. Sad to lose him too young to big business music industry types.
Polo this was a practice session! He hadn’t performed for a long time and this was a comeback special! You have to watch in its entirety. Thank you for always your support for Elvis!
I'm an lady in her late 60's and went to Elvis concerts during Hawaii tour. I just want all to know that Elvis was exactly like he is vids. My fav reactions vids of young Black Man and his "if I can dream " Martin Luther king " dedication song. Elvis was always a mainstay in my music I was fortunate enough to see him live. So greatfull for that.
The most gorgeous man on the planet. That was one gift, the others voice, stage presence, voice, sexy, great dancer, sing any genre of music and make them his own, and sing bass right up to top C and more. He was a genuine person and loved by all who knew him and by those who had never met him. A gift from God, he loved God and now with God. There will never be another to compare to him, it's impossible. Will always love him.
Elvis is the man! People saying he "copied" other people probably never listened to him. A lot of us were there when he came on the scene. He tore the music world up!!!
He may have covered a ton a songs, but imo, always improved them and made it his. Bridge Over Troubled Water and You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feeling, to name a couple.
You have to remember that the "young ladies" in this audience probably weren't Elvis fans when they went in but they definitely were when they came out. 😂
I'm so glad more younger people are starting to appreciate Elvis. I don't understand how some people could ever think Elvis was racist or stole things from other entertainers. Elvis loved R & B and Gospel music, which dominated the African Community. Elvis use to go to black churches to listen to the music he loved. He used to to go downtown Memphis to BB King's place often. Elvis was a spiritual guy who never had a harsh word about anyone. He recorded Mac Davis' song " In The Ghetto" even though his manager Col. Parker said not to because it was too controversial. He recorded it anyway in 1969. That is a song that tells an all too familiar story that sadly is with us today. He felt it needed to be sung. Too many people make assumptions about people when they don't even know them. That's what is ailing this country now. Have an open mind, check a person out before you condemn them. The country & the world will be a better place. Listen to "In The Ghetto". I'd love to know what you think.
People can say what they want about Elvis but he was unique, he was a product of his environment, influenced and touched by the music that was around him. However saying that who on earth sounds like Elvis, looks like Elvis, and has his charisma. There is and was no one like him.
Elvis wore nudie suits designed by a guy in Nashville. He wore them Hank Williams and so many more,it was the fashion (he did design his own). I love to watch your reactions to him and others from my past.😎
Polo, no one can put their heart into as many styles of music as Elvis! Please give a listen to his blues, ( reconsider baby, give me the right, like a baby) or music that has a drive,( one night with you) or my fav. Thrill of Your Love! I know you can’t just revue Elvis but, if you do!
Elvis 🥰😘 I can still remember the day when they announced his death. I know when I was young my Dad would get so jealous when we would be watching Elvis on TV even though Dad liked him to. There will never be another man like Elvis. His voice his eyes his body OMG he had the whole package back in the day LOL 😂
I was happy to hear you don't care. Elvis took what worked for him and made it his own. As I have said before people (men) became jealous and with jealousy comes people who will look for things to put him down. This man was an amazing Human. He lived, loved, laughed, and cried. He hurt as we all do. It still hurts to hear some of the things that were said about him or portrayed of him. Sorry, I have watched so many reaction videos and it makes my heart happy that people are giving him the recognition he has always deserved.
Um. Correction. This '68 Elvis Comeback was after he had completed his almost 8 year+, multi-movie contract which Col. Parker got him trapped into to promote record albums. He made around 30+ movies - craziness & sad. Elvis wanted to get back in front of audiences again and this was his comeback. The show had a small unplugged portion, plus other musical vinnettes with dancers, etc. He closed it with "If I Can Dream". It was, I believe, the first Unplugged though- before Mtv!! What a performer... Unreal.
I seen Elvis in concert when I was 14. It was just before he past away. They always said that every man wanted to be him and every woman wanted to be with him.
Every entertainer has been influenced by those who went before them. Beethoven was influenced by Mozart, and so on, and so on. Elvis grew up in the South and was influenced by the culture and music around him. He took Rock &Roll and catapulted it into the stratosphere. That is why he is considered the King of R &R. Add his talent, voice, incredible looks, charisma , stage presence and you have the uniqueness that is Elvis. Why do you think he has so many impersonators? They all want to be him. Of course, there can be only one Elvis.
Yes, Cherokee Ancestry, his GGG Grandmother on his Mother's Side was Called Morning White Dove 🕊 She Married a White Settler. I Think that's where he got he got his exotic good looks and those beautiful high cheek bones.
Elvis is LEGIT playing lead guitar here. He was one of the greatest rhythm guitarists ever at this point in 1968. So much going on in this song and I agree 100% with your points. Every one of them.
Larry! you still hiding behind a dead mans profile? How can your comments be taken serious when you haven't got the guts to use your own profile. We all know Depper died back in 2020. Identity theft could get you jail for 15 years, time to come clean LARRY!
This has to be my favourite live performance of this beautiful man..I think you would enjoy Chris Issak. Very similar style to Elvis. Only, of course. There's only one.❤
The story behind the GUITAR, in this, one performance, is legend. The guitar, had to be unbelievably resonant and project to pull it off Listen to the guitar, it’s stunning how big AND sharp it is. And hard as Elvis pushes his vocals, that ❤️🔥 guitar kept putting out that tone that drives this performance. You should consider “Elvis And The Black Community” if you’ve not already. It’s a fantastic documentary style piece on exactly what you were trying to describe. Plus it’s a time capsule of great entertainers giving their experiences.
Elvis made this song what it always wanted to be! no one else can do that ! Even the song writer could not imagine that this song could be sung like this! Elvis makes the song come alive!
Yes, you are so right! ELVIS was special! He was the coolest dude on Planet, and his vocal range phenomenal! Nobody can match this man! I wish i was one of these lucky girls! Thank you!
I'm really pleased seeing more young black and white people recognising Elvis. Michael Jackson sang, don't matter if your black or white. Elvis was a one and only, I was a kid in the 60s parents were into him along with other black and white artists of the 50s and 60s. I took a lot of hassle liking Elvis's music by one or two siblings saying all that he took this or that. Elvis knew what got his mojo going musically which is why he was so cool with his outlandish looks and that voice, but his persona is off the planet. Here's to more young dudes discovering the man, the legend that is Elvis Presley.
Elvis was a phenomenon and I think I can say without overstating the fact that Elvis set the president for for those who followed him...He set the bar so high no one has ever been able to do what Elvis did...And one of the most amazing elements of the man was he never got to big to remember where he came from. Down to earth and gracious to his fans and those who were a part of what made him the tremendous performer he was... The voice alone was mystifying...
Elvis wil always be at the top for me. He made the leather look good for sure. Such a gorgeous man, he definitely had a natural charisma and his voice cannot be compared. I love him.. best ever.
Elvis sang this song in 1955 when he was at sun studios. His voice was higher and its 🔥 Now Elvis didn't borrow songs ect he grew up IN black culture that's why he's so great he blended all the music he came into contact with . Country R&B Rock and especially Gospel and black spiritual also beleive it Elvis liked Opera too

Polo, have you watched the ""if I can dream"" video from the 68 special?? If you haven't seen it I would recommend it
Whitney Houston Mother was one Elvis back up singers
There is another recording of this song on the Live from Memphis album.. As Elvis matured, the deep richness of his voice comes out. It is my absolute favorite recording of this same song.
Try Gene Watson.
Chuck Berry had this to say about Elvis.
“Describe Elvis Presley?
He was the greatest who ever was, is or ever will be.”
COMIN' FROM MR. CHUCK BERRY, that's no overstatement!!!
he is the most handsome man that ever lived on this earth
My mom would say, with my dad sitting right there, that if Elvis pulled up and said get in, she'd get out of the car right there, leave it in the road and not even close the door. Pretty sure my dad believed her too.
Johnny Carson had the best line: "If life was fair Elvis would be alive and the impersonators would be dead." 🤙
that's brilliant
No one could touch this guy. GOAT. No. One. Comes. Close.
Everyone smiles when they see his smile 😁
Connery had presence and swag, but doesn’t hold a candle to Elvis’s charisma! Elvis twitches a shoulder and the women scream and men smile. TRIED to watch your reactions... but couldn't take my eyes off the sexiest man in history.
This was the 1968 comeback special...no auto tune or special effects, just Elvis's raw voice... Elvis had the looks, charisma , and Talent. No one can ever come close to him. He's the King 🤴
Absolutely! Def "the king of music"!!👍
Not the King... he was Elvis. He absolutely hated being called the King. Why call him something he hated?
Now and Forever!!🫠🫠🫠
@@belewda he didn't hate it.. he said Christ was king..I'm just an entertainer
This whole session was the best I've ever seen Elvis perform. Absolutely captivating!
I was 13! when Elvis came out of the radio singing HEARTBREAK HOTEL…..
Elvis was so handsome just looking at him makes you want to cry. He was so beautiful, looking at him hurts. 😭
I agree, absolutely. He is stunning. Easily the most beautiful human to ever exist.
Exactlyyy it’s unreal😭😭 my brain cells are on overdrive seeing this much attractiveness entering my eye sockets at one time. They’re blown away and can’t process it & because of that my nervous system is overwhelmed and therefore feels like it’s gonna explode and it causes my body to want to cry tears of joy and overwhelmingness😂😂❤ help
and also because of how unfair it is that we can’t all look that way

HE WAS JUST GREAT AT BEING WHO HE WAS AND STILL IS OUR GREAT ELVIS A. PRESLEY 💙 💙 💙
They say he stole That's Alright Mama from a black singer, but it was written by a white man! 😂😂😂
@sandralybrand9425 Yeah they said " he stoled music from black people", today everyone is stealing. Music but they call it " Covering." Elvis was just great with everything he did..All the haters are jealous...
He was best. The King he had it all. Voice, Looks and stage presence.
Noticed how he sang with such power and like a “man”?
Elvis created swagger
I'm a huge Elvis fan too but let's not forget that there was alot of screaming going on for Frankie too! And I'm a big fan of his also!
So many people who met Elvis have said the same thing. You didn’t see Elvis enter a room, you felt him enter the room. His aura was just that strong.
@Sinful Bastard Child damn what’s ur problem? Lmao
Have fun. It’s real.
@Sinful Bastard Child in fact, there is a long and descriptive post about the time Led Zeppelin met Elvis by Robert Plant.
I've read and/or heard Priscilla Presley, Jerry Schilling, Rick Stanley and Reggie Young all say that you could FEEL the energy when Elvis entered a room or building, even if you couldn't see him.
Cool anecdote, nice reply!
Elvis has the greatest singing voice ever recorded, he will never be equaled
Elvis didn't have to copy any body he had his own style.
Women loved and love Elvis because he had a great charisma, wasone of tthe most handsome man who came to earth , had one of the best voices. He had all the package. The great entertainer. Elvis sang with his whole body.🥰
And soul
I saw Elvis in concert in Oklahoma City, Nov 1955. He was 9th on a bill headed by Hank Snow. He was19; I was 18. But the word was out, and he was who we came to see. Super memory.
He makes everyone smile. He grins, we grin.
I don't understand why people are saying negative raseist things about him. He grew up poor as heck in Mississippi in a black neighborhood, went to a Baptist Church EVERY Sunday. He just had awesome talent! No hate people. Enjoy the talent.

jealousy.
Not only was he dirt poor, his twin brother was born deceased plus his father did time in prison in Mississippi. Elvis made millions and gave most of it away.
did you notice how long he goes before he even takes a breath in one of these runs...it's truly amazing. Elvis was hot AF, just sayin.
elvis was the GOAT.
Elvis's wife was in the audience. He later said he lost 5 pounds that night, because of the hot lights and the leather suit.
Elvis was so amazing his voice was so amazing

He sure did blaze a big, wide trail. Room for everyone.

Agreed!!
You have to remember that the "young ladies" in this audience probably weren't Elvis fans when they went in but they definitely were when they came out. 😂
Also he was a triple threat......talent, charisma, beautiful and sexy as hell!
My favorite Elvis song💙
I remember being mesmerized by that intimate TV special, and I was married!

I agree, his charisma is off the charts and he’s hot as hell. That always helps.
Charisma! Elvis, Michael, Freddie and Prince. They all had it in spades!
Elvis wore nudie suits designed by a guy in Nashville. He wore them Hank Williams and so many more,it was the fashion (he did design his own). I love to watch your reactions to him and others from my past.😎

Elvis had soul...⚡
THE G.O.A.T!!!!!!
THE KING FOREVER!!!!!!
The King ! The Greatest Entertainer To Have Walked This Planet ! The Voice !Humanitarian ! The Revolutionary Elvis !
My first covert, I was 7 and I cried cuz everyone was standing up screaming😳 He’s family! Don’t mess with him I’m very biased🤟
Elvis is the best, such a generous soul
I was happy to hear you don't care. Elvis took what worked for him and made it his own. As I have said before people (men) became jealous and with jealousy comes people who will look for things to put him down. This man was an amazing Human. He lived, loved, laughed, and cried. He hurt as we all do. It still hurts to hear some of the things that were said about him or portrayed of him. Sorry, I have watched so many reaction videos and it makes my heart happy that people are giving him the recognition he has always deserved.
Back in his prime he wasn’t allowed to let loose! It, compared to what is allowed today!
He’s so beautiful inside and out, giving, talented, amazing and magical ☺️
This was an Elvis Unplugged tv special when he returned from the military. This was his best type of show.
Um. Correction. This '68 Elvis Comeback was after he had completed his almost 8 year+, multi-movie contract which Col. Parker got him trapped into to promote record albums. He made around 30+ movies - craziness & sad. Elvis wanted to get back in front of audiences again and this was his comeback. The 68 comeback special was amazing ❤
All I can say is: That man can SANG!! Thank you Polo for recognizing greatness! Love your platform!
I seen Elvis in concert when I was 14. It was just before he past away. They always said that every man wanted to be him and every woman wanted to be with him.
words seemed to flow so effortlessly out of his mouth....
Old enough that I grew up in the 60's and 70's Elvis had it all. He in my opinion the greatest entertainer of all time.
when i was younger, i only looked at his good looks, fancy body moves, cool costumes, it wasn't until i grew older that i appreciated his great voice
Even Eddie Murphy will attest to the power of the leather. ✌️❤️ from Ky
Add his talent, voice, incredible looks, charisma ,
stage presence and you have the uniqueness that is Elvis. Why do you think he has so many impersonators? They all want to be him. Of course, there can be only one Elvis.
Every song that elvis covert, made he a better song. For example my way. What a great song.
Amazing leather - amazing native american heritage on the looks - a sense of humour - an epic voice - just an all round KING
Yes, Cherokee Ancestry, his GGG Grandmother on his Mother's Side was Called Morning White Dove 🕊 She Married a White Settler.
I Think that's where he got he got his exotic good looks and those beautiful high cheek bones.
Check Wikipedia's EP Page, His DNA is predominantly Irish, and some German on His Dads side. No Native American.....
Home is where the heart is !! Great song Elvis did but, he did so many and all so good!!
You ain’t lying. Jim Morrison wore his leather pants extremely well. ❤
Jim was freakin awesome!
💙💋ELVIS💋💙
Most beautiful man whose ever live!!!!
Women wanted to be with him and men wanted to be him. Pure stardom.
The story behind the GUITAR, in this, one performance, is legend.
The guitar, had to be unbelievably resonant and project to pull it off
Listen to the guitar, it’s stunning how big AND sharp it is.
And hard as Elvis pushes his vocals, that ❤️🔥 guitar kept putting out that tone that drives this performance.
You should consider
“Elvis And The Black Community” if you’ve not already.
It’s a fantastic documentary style piece on exactly what you were trying to describe.
Plus it’s a time capsule of great entertainers giving their experiences.
He sounds dangerous... in a good way.
Till this day..nobody can come close to him…THE GOAT FOREVER 🔥⚡️
Elvis made this song what it always wanted to be! no one else can do that ! Even the song writer could not imagine that this song could be sung like this! Elvis makes the song come alive!
Beautiful, beautiful Elvissss ❤🔥❤🔥
Yes, you are so right! ELVIS was special! He was the coolest dude on Planet, and his vocal range phenomenal! Nobody can match this man! I wish i was one of these lucky girls! Thank you!
I went to Graceland in 2018 and stood right next to that suit.
I was 1 yrs old when this concert happened... I'm old.. but dang.. It's Elvis.. and he was amazing.
The Best Elvis ! The King ! Revolutionary Elvis !
When you think about the fact that he died at 42 years old and still accomplished all that he did. Imagine!
I was 15 when i saw that special.
Another legend from that era was Tom Jones. "I'm Never Going to Fall in Love".
You said it true you can write it down its not until he performs it. Unique.
"Be You (yourself). They'll follow",...........good way to live your life!
Elvis wil always be at the top for me. He made the leather look good for sure. Such a gorgeous man, he definitely had a natural charisma and his voice cannot be compared. I love him.. best ever.
Elvis said such a variety of singing and dancing styles, He never did two shows the same. Or song. Than’ you sir. 👍
Loved your reaction . I already knew I loved Elvis.
Elvis sang this song in 1955 when he was at sun studios. His voice was higher and its 🔥
Now Elvis didn't borrow songs ect he grew up IN black culture that's why he's so great he blended all the music he came into contact with . Country R&B Rock and especially Gospel and black spiritual also beleive it Elvis liked Opera too
I'm lovin this Elvis stuff!! Also a big Sean Connery fan.
You're right , you've either got it or you haven't and Elvis had it in bucket loads !👍
This was an early song of his. Go watch him before he entered the army. He was unbridled.
