- Flathead season is finally here!!! Time to pull out my best live baits and head down to my local river! Trying out a new bait and scouting new potential locations for big flatheads hiding in the river. Catching a flathead catfish during the day can be difficult but here’s a few tips and tricks that I like to use!

Love using them crawdads to fish with. Been using them all my life. Me and my friends always went out and caught a bunch them to fish with. Great beautiful day to be out fishing. Great video buddy.
That is a different take on the 3 way rig but the more I looked at it and thought about it the more I like that. I can see how having the float high up would help. I love the 3 way rigs in rivers. My favorite river rig no doubt. Good stuff and well made video.

Great share thanks for bringing back memories. I used to fish the exact area and I used to fish from the top of the railroad bridge or just below it because you would have to be careful fishing from the top because of the trains even though they moved slow you'd still have to get off the bridge. I caught my share of big fish out of the arkansas river and had a my picture in the wichita paper once when I was fishing off the lincoln street bridge before we moved to northeast kansas in 93 and i will definitely need to get back there before long. I believe the only thing that I'd change is the hook I like the circle hooks because they'll hook themselves. Thanks again for sharing this great video.

Humbly appreciate it dawg and it took me awhile to transition over to using bait casting reels but I like having the clicker option available whenever Im fishing at night or with live baits.

😂 Man, I never used crawdads for bait before this vid, so I had to give it a try. I still haven't landed a catfish with one yet. 🙅🏽♂️ Definitely not the best choice of bait when it comes to catfish. @@SlingNBaits I have caught plenty catfish in the river belly full of crawfish but I never caught them when I tried craw fish I always caught drums lol. So I know catfish do eat crawfish but not on hooks I guess 😆

I have never seen color coordinated lines and rods! A+ for presentation. Interesting how you ran two lines off one line by using two barrel swivels. Keep fishing for those river monsters.
I used to fish that river when I lived in Wichita but my biggest one came from just below the bridge Next to the Broadway. But that was back in the 80's.

Kind of reminds me of fishing for sturgeon on the Columbia river Washington State we use the slide setup with sandshrimp smelt or salmon heart and various Bates
Drum is good eating. Clean nice white meat. Not fishy tasting or boney either.

What that mean?
@@2345suga He just means, sometime when you hook your bait, the scales from the bait get stuck on the tip of the hook. Just make sure you clear the scales off of your hook tip or you might lose a fish dawg.

@@SlingNBaits I use them all the time for small mouth and largemouth. The smaller whites ones work well. Try some grampus if you can find them in the river. They are long skinny and have a mouth kinda like a beetle. They will bite you though so be careful.

Hey bud learned a trick from Richard gene the fishing machine he breaks the claws off and uses little rubber bands around their body and put the hook under the rubber band definitely worth checking out

I like putting craws on a jig head and bounce it off the bottom for smallmouth
I find ripping the tails off work better Might just be me tho
FYI- crawfish can’t breath underwater. So you don’t have to carry them in a bucket of water. Keep them in the shade just in a bucket with no water and they will stay alive all day.
