Good luck with growing the channel btw! You're doing a great job. Have seen most of your videos
Thanks for clarifying, my mistake. That will certainly dominate. My comment on that is more in general though, 2070 Super Max P is better value than a 2080 Max-Q for the performance.
If you already have this, I would wait until the 30 series come on on mobile, should just be a few months away. The current upgrades would not be worth it.
@@CETechTips I ordered it nov 29, and is coming this week. How much more will the 30 series be? And I have heard it was only a tint bit better than the 2080 Super
@@rigoeats3654 still rumor mill, but I have heard it will be at the performance levels of a desktop 2080 Super. That is might impressive if that is true.
From what I have seen the 2080 super max-q in the m15 is the 90w variation, any reason you were listing 105w? Also I'd like to argue that the wattage decrease between the 2080 super max-q and the 2070 super max-p would be a reason to choose the former. It produces less heat off the bat which in turn gives more thermal head room for the cpu and over clocking and allows for a quieter gaming experience and longer battery life. Additionally the 2070 super max-p in the m17 most likely receives better cooling due to the size of the chassis than the one available in the m15 and thus can run faster than the 2070 super max-p offered in the m15. I bet if you compared the 2070 super max-p in the m15 the performance would be worse (albeit not by a lot) than the 2080 super max-q upgrade. Therefore, I think there is a reason to go for the 2080 over the 2070 if you're looking at only one form factor. You're doing a good job, keep working!
This is what it is reporting the power consumption to be. It looks like Alienware is allowing it to go past the reference spec of the 2080 Super Max-Q. There is quite a bit of thermal headroom still even with that on both actually. In RDR2 and Shadow of the Tomb Raider they both are reporting around 75C for the GPU temp. It is possible that they would be a bit different in the m15 chassis, however since they are both well below the thermal limit I don't think it will make much of a difference. I would think that the additional cuda cores would push out more heat, but this is an assumption. Of course until I test it apples to apples this is just an opinion. Based on this I still don't think the 2080 Super Max-Q is a good buy unless it is the same price as a 2070 Super if you are looking at game performance. Thanks for the comment and support!
great stuff bro, you deserve way more subscribers. Can you review the MSI GS75 2020 version?, MSI won't release (GS76 as they did with the GS66) so they upgraded the GS75 with a 240 Hz display and new intel 10th gen CPU and latest GPU, i couldn't find a single review for this 2020 version on the internet so it would be great if you can review one.
Genuinely cant decide between the M17 R3 or the M15 R3. It will mostly be on a desk at home. Both have the same specs so it just comes down to size. Ive always had 15.6” laptops ive never had a 17” and im wondering if too big is a thing or not🤔
@@tylerb4994 If you don't mind the extra weight and bulk it is really nice. Just be aware that the R4s are out now. Give you access to the faster 30 series GPU.
So I got the same unit 10 days ago with exactly the same specs and so far I have found the following: - If you push it while gaming I noted small battery drain when it is plugged. However, it may be due my BIOS options around battery management, still investigating. - Screen is awesome but the battery will suffer. I barely manage to complete one Netflix movie on full charge. Lights disabled, screen brightness set to low, balanced power profile and undervolted. - It feels bit warm on touch when gaming and per AIDA64 graphs it will throttle when gaming (XTU core voltage offset -0.120mV) but not by much. Thermal profile set to performance - Yeah its fast machine as said here on the video - Command centre can get bit crazy sometimes, nothing major - They have good Alienware mobile connect so you can manage your smartphone over it. So far I did not have any issues with it connecting to my Pixel 2 XL. - I have undervolted this thing via XTU and if I am not wrong you have to manually start XTU every time you start the machine to re-apply the undervolt. Any other questions? :D
@@fernandoalmeida5981 There are plenty of guides it there. I did it with XTU from Intel. There you will find Core voltage offset parameter. In there you set value for example -0.090mV. I managed to undervolt mine to -0.120mV. Basically you have to experiment with those numbers and every time you change it and push the undervolt further you have to stress test it to see if it's stable or if the system crushes. AFAIK undervolting is safe, the only thing is if you push it too much the system can crash and it reboots but that is all.
Awesome yes im just asking cause never did it before and I got the i7-10750h that "can't be undervolted" so idk if there's any extra precautions I should take. But thank you very much i appreciate all the info
Interesting, my guess is that the 17 inch has a significant thermal headroom that makes less difference between the gpu. I've seen several reviews of the 15 that shows a significant ~5-10C reduction with max q. I would be interested in seeing your results on a 2070 super in the 15.
I would be curious as well. I want to review some other vendor models, but may look to bring one in with that spec. Or just wait for the 30 series to hit the mobiles.
If your model has screen bleed, you would notice it in movies and other dark images around the border. Not all screens have this but it is a bit of luck of the draw.
Am I only able to get additional warranty if I buy directly from dell? I’m going to buy this today but from best but idk if I want their warranty over dells. Just not sure if dell accepts taking warranty for products that aren’t sold directly from them
@@realcj5850 If battery is number one then I would say yes. Now that said I have not tested the Alienware with this. All have been the 300hz panels. It is just that it should be better than the 90 minutes I have been seeing.

That thing is super fast! Impressive how different a video card can perform in a different chassis. Paying extra for a 2080 when you get less performance than a 2070 must sting a little
This one is the Max-P version of the card, not the Max-Q version which has a lower power limit. What is still hard to believe is how confusing this makes it for consumers. The average person would just assume that the higher number is therefore faster. Not realizing there are so many variables to this.
Yeah I think that having all these different products is just confusing, but I suppose with a lack of competition they can do what they want. Regardless though I can’t wait to see what happens when they stuff a 3000 series in a notebook!
Most consumer are ignorant though and don’t do research. They’ll be paying more for a 2080 thinking they got a faster card. Which that’s obviously not always true.

The best FPS was setting the thermals to performance. If you want to try OCing the GPU I would start with 100Mhz on Core and Memory. If it is stable you can bump up from there. I landed at 140Mhz on Core and memory on mine.
I dying to get one but it just that when people talk about gaming laptop they always say it won't last long would this last long for a very long time and i love the breakdown of the video

7:17, I don't understand, it wasn't possible to tweak the 2080 super such that it outperformed this 2070 super? that is really surprising. is it because its an m17r3 vs an m15r3? what difference does the chassis size make in terms of performance? (cooling? thermals?) I don't understand it
The difference is the this is a 2070 Super at 115W that is max performance. The 2080 Super at 105W and is a Max-Q, power limited. This is card related only. The chassis difference is minimal.

@@CETechTips thank you for your reply. The gaming benchmarks, was the laptop on a flat surface or on a cooling pad/laptop stand?
@@TheIndustrialGiant Just a flat surface, not raised. So it can gain some more thermal performance.
@@CETechTips thank you once again. Good luck with growing the channel btw! You're doing a great job. Have seen most of your videos
Just to let you know the 17 inch version the 2080 super comes as a MAX P variant @150W. The M15 R3 is the one that has the 2080 super MAX Q variant.
Thanks for clarifying, my mistake. That will certainly dominate. My comment on that is more in general though, 2070 Super Max P is better value than a 2080 Max-Q for the performance.
Is it worth upgrading the ram from 16 to 32? And getting a better graphics card? I have a 16 gb ram and 2060 Rtx
@@CETechTips oh then if thats the case that's awesome.

Genuinely cant decide between the M17 R3 or the M15 R3. It will mostly be on a desk at home. Both have the same specs so it just comes down to size. Ive always had 15.6” laptops ive never had a 17” and im wondering if too big is a thing or not🤔
Leaning 17”
@@tylerb4994 If you don't mind the extra weight and bulk it is really nice. Just be aware that the R4s are out now. Give you access to the faster 30 series GPU.
So I got the same unit 10 days ago with exactly the same specs and so far I have found the following:
- If you push it while gaming I noted small battery drain when it is plugged.
Thermal profile set to performance
- Yeah its fast machine as said here on the video
- Command centre can get bit crazy sometimes, nothing major
- They have good Alienware mobile connect so you can manage your smartphone over it. So far I did not have any issues with it connecting to my Pixel 2 XL.
- I have undervolted this thing via XTU and if I am not wrong you have to manually start XTU every time you start the machine to re-apply the undervolt.
Any other questions? :D
Thanks for sharing Daniel!
Yes! I'm getting mine soon and im thinking on undervolting! Any video or guide on how to safely do it? I'm a complete noob in that area.

I would be interested in seeing your results on a 2070 super in the 15.

will it still screen bleed if you don't play games on it I mainly want it because I just love the brand I've had Alienware products for a long time.
If your model has screen bleed, you would notice it in movies and other dark images around the border. Not all screens have this but it is a bit of luck of the draw.
