I'm from Banja Luka, have eaten cevapo all across the country. Travnik easily have the best ones at Hari's. But rumor said that in Novi Pazar (Serbia) at "Kod Jonuza" are the best ones in the region.
Zdravo, a week ago I returned from BiH where, of course, I tasted čevapi several times, including the first two mentioned čevabdžinice - excellent; for me Ferhatovič was a little better than Hari, I rated the meat, the momentary taste, and I am not an expert at all, but, in any case, I have to praise the staff in both restaurants, even though there were many guests, the staff was always nice and pleasant. Greetings from Czechia.
Great video as always. You gotta stay off the cheese lol. I agree travnik is number one. Also another candidate for a knock off version of kajmak is daisy sour cream
Traditional and the "original" way to serve a portion of ćevapi is with bread (lepina or somun), ćevapi and onions. Kajmak (/sour/-cream-cheese thingy) came later and it compliments the dish but not necessary. And generally you have to ask for it. Ajvar does NOT belong with ćevapi, and I believe, the Croatians, who generally have no tradition with ćevapi, served ajvar and french fries for foreign tourists which became widespread, so most foreigners think ajvar belongs to ćevapi but it does NOT!
I am one of the ones who can say that he tried all of them. And i can tell you that theres no a winner! They are all good and quality one, where ever you know your regular shop.
I am from Bosnia und Herzegovina, I can only tell you: Travnik ,the best Ćevapi. I've tried everything, but there is one special place, I don't know the name of the restaurant, but there I tried the most delicious ćevapi in Bosnia, by the way, I'm not from Travnik.
Kod Muje is not best cevapi in Banjaluka, hasnt been best in a long time. Also, you brought them home in styrofoam container, and that ruins the taste/freshness a lot.
For the most part, from traveling. Going to smaller towns where people won’t speak English & talking with older people. They’re always willing to sit and chat with you. I also spent a few months in Sarajevo earlier this year which helped a lot. Beyond that, I try to speak with friends who I know even if they already speak English (e.g. I buy them a coffee and say let’s speak your language for an hour). Plus music, the music is great
can't believe you went to Banja Luka and didn't get the šiš ćevap, smh... also there is a great Ćevabdžinica Kastel in Sarajevo that makes BL style fare.
I also got food poisoning. By eating meat and potatoes at weddings in the balkans. I throw up in the night and felt like shit for a day. You should watch out where you eat in the balkans
