Weaving Non-Symmetric Motifs on a Shaft Drawloom

  • A drawloom with pattern shafts is an awesome way to weave repeated, symmetric designs efficiently and accurately. But what if we we want to add non-symmetric motifs to our cloth? What if we have no single-unit drawcords at our disposal? In this video, we examine a couple of ways to achieve non-symmetry on the shaft drawloom, including a handy little technique for adding unexpected surprises (or 'Easter eggs') to our weaving.

      Needs must! My son, the biggest Star Wars fan ever, did not recognize the interrogator in its original symmetric iteration. I had to come up with A Way.

      Well, meticulous is a very nice way of putting it and I thank you for that. I think my family might use a different word to describe my ... er ... fixation with detail 😉
