I can’t share any related experience as I am just a hobbyist. But listening to musicians today, I. understand how difficult it is. I thought it was much easier to make a living. Pb is that we don’t want to pay more than a Spotify or Netflix fee to access to music / movies. Creating music has become too easy / too cheap to pay for people playing. It is bad for musicians. And as you said, they have to promote themselves, built a community, develop their multiple sites / social media. A full time job. If not more. And with access to 60 years of rock music with the streaming platform, competition is fierce for new players. Let’s hope that things will change. The Patreon approach may help as it enables fans to continuously support their artists (maybe better than buying one CD at a gig). Thanks for the content 🎉

Hi, nice playing and sound!! I bought recently one Ibanez As 93 in Black made in 2024. I have had many 335 guitars in the last years … At the moment I have one Epiphone es 335(IG), and D’Angelico DC with SD, But this one impress me in a good way, really nice set up, and playability. One think that I note was the weight. Mine is not lighter is around 3,570kg or 3,6 kg or 7,91 lbs. I note that you are using a nice pad strap (by the way … what strap is that?? ) and does your guitar have around the same weight ? Do you like that guitar? Thanks!!! Best regards !!! Paulo

Great video, I'm with you, Guitar Player was a big part of my development as a musician. I have boxes of the magazine dating back to the 70's and was a subscriber for many years. I also am a fan of holding reading material in your hands, relaxing, flipping the pages rather than scrolling on a computer.

GREAT amps. My one criticism is that they're too heavy. Although I miss its tones a lot, I wound up selling mine because I hated lugging it back and forth to gigs. These days I go with an ampless rig if I can, or my much lighter Roland Cube if that's not feasible.

I just bought a GX-100 but haven't received it yet. I also use it for live gigs and I have two different guitars humbuckers and single coils. Can the input level settings be saved per patch or do I have to manually change the settings when I change guitars?

What has been your experience with this guitar?

I have been wanting an electro-acoustic guitar and wondered whether I needed to make an additional investment into an acoustic amp. Initially I thought I could just find a setting on my GX-100 but began to doubt. Do you think the GX-100 acts as a good substitute?

I bought a set of Gibson brite wires on e bay, worst copy I've ever seen, duds, also Ernie Ball Cobalt copy, snapped 3 strings in 2 days, but there's plenty warnings out there

I have bought both bass and guitar strings from Sweetwater and Amazon, no problems with either. Will stay away from Ebay.

If you do extensive Classic Rock at your gigs, what bands are you able to get 'respectful' or representative rhythm sounds for, what bands/artists?

I have bought the same strings, at least they look the same, DAddario strings in a 3 pack for 10 bucks on amazon. Have had no issues. Bought the strings for electric and acoustic.

From what I have read most do sell the amp before a break down occurs due to being unreliable in craftsmanship, the real Marshall's are hand wired not made in Vietnam by people that aren't musicians. The probable cause of failure is probably due to poor soldering connections and cheap parts, The amp vibrates a lot when played and jiggling them around during transport is probable an issue with them as well. Having it set stationary and using the Emulated out will probable help it's longevity and breakdown likeliness, and yes I own one which I never use but it does sound phenomenal.

You can tell...the only time I got fake Ernie Balls strings was off Temu i had bought some electronics parts and offered a gift to choose I took the strings 2 packs, they were not real, the windings at the ball ends were lkoose enough to stretch out when I tuned up and they kept slipping out of tune...abosulte crap. But I didn't pay for them....just goes to show. But once I checked the package against a real one it was obvious. The picture on Temu showed an actual real EB package. As for eBay you can tell and eBay has buyer protection so ya don't lose anything. I will buy the larger packs of 12.

I'm an EJ-16 guy. Buy EBay some, never had a problem. I did buy 6 counterfeit oil filters once, reported and got money back. The "dealer" soon disappeared.

Don't listen to this baffoon folks. In the USA all strings are warrantied. Ernie ball and Diadarrio will send you a sent of strings if you report bad strings.

This guys spot on, I got 4 sets of Elixier acoustic best part of £60 down the drain, they are rubbish, these certainly wernt coated and break willi nilly, bend a string and its going back down again without your finger moving, wont go to pitch, Please, save yourself the grief buy from a real music shop, well worth the travel or pay slightly more money, Good way to waste money is buying 'copys'

The potential collapse of brick and mortar retailers due to online sales has consequences. Employees with reasonable wages and working conditions will be traded for sweatshop labor, less customer service, increased landfill waste, higher carbon footprint, counterfeit goods, online scams, and reduced privacy. For every store that closes leaving people unemployed and the American dream crushed for the owner, someone will be able to upgrade their yacht. It almost seems as if the middle class has become a partner in its own demise. Please engage in commerce with consciousness lest we become our own enemy.

I buy the fake ernie balls from aliexpress for 2 dollars a pack and think theyre great. Honestly cannot tell the difference and have zero issues with them. I even strung a mates ibanez with them and he never mentioned them at all.

great vid use a Gx 100 like you ...sometimes i add a Line 6 pod xpress or a Tone X one into the effects loop or GX 100..so another big # of amps, pedals or scenes on tap ( if needed)

Unfortunately this true for many products. They even sell fake Advantage flea medication on eBay.

i had the same issue from strings i bought on Amazon.

Interesting story. I searched long and far to find strings that got along well with my 12 String guitar, and stumbled upon strings with the name Knucklehead ...... on ebay. ...... They are fantastic strings, good longevity, and I constantly get compliments on how nice my guitar sounds. I keep a good stock ahead because I like them so much.

What if you don’t live close to an instrument store? Just stop playing? WhT if we use guitar strings for our weed wackers?

Yep there’s Ernie Ball knockoffs on EBay ..you can tell when they turn up the plastic outer and string packs are too thick and Rigid .they even have the Hologram on them .they’re garbage ,the tone don’t last long before going dead .and they never seem to sound in tune even though the intonation is set right and the guitar is set up spot on ..

Do you find it helpful to practice improvisation over backing tracks?

What kind of pick (material, thickness) do you prefer / advice? My experience is that it also highly determines the sound an playability of the guitar.

From my end this is boxy sounding compared to your Katana. I really expected a brighter tone. This is way darker.

How do you guys connect your GX for recording? How would it work GX -> Audio Interface -> DAW?
