INSTRUCTIONS for Cooking Lentils
---------------------------------------------------------
1. Measure and pick through 1 cup of lentils (I used brown lentils); be sure to get out all the little pieces that are not lentils...you don't want to cook that.
2. RINSE lentils well with water.
3. Into a medium-sized pot, PUT 3 cups water and a bayleaf. Bring to a boil.
4. ADD the rinsed lentils. BRING to the boil.
5. REDUCE heat to a simmer and COOK for 20-25 minutes. I cooked mine for 23 minutes.
6. Remove the bayleaf and let the lentils cool.
7. That's it. You're done.

Where were you!! Looking all over the internet for a lady who looks like you and me to tell me how to make them. Especially how to wash and pick through the way we do!!! Love it!! Make more videos!
Thank you so much, renee.
I needed to hear that today because some days are easier than others, so, thank you. Your words have been like a glass of cool water on a hot summer day. You have blessed me greatly.
Have a stupendous day and don't forget to smile. 😀
OMG I just did the same thing. As soon as I saw her, click, this be the one to watch. ❤️

I needed to see someone like you this morning. Thank you. I wasn’t having a great day but you made it a little better.
Love this, Thank you
I used to watch you yests ago, then lost track of you, glad to see you again.
I am so glad you found me again, Magalis. The YTube algorithm sometimes has us losing people we would like to keep seeing. So thankful it worked in the positive for you this time. WELCOME BACK! ❤
Thank you!
LOVE YOU AUNT DELLIE!!
Okay, RD...Who are you? Let me know. ☺
Thanks cooking mama!
I gave up on cooking lentils and opted out on buying them in a can. Why? Because every time I cooked lentils they would come out so hard.
Why? Well she already said why.
Making my way to my pantry 😋 🍴
Love this ❤❤❤❤❤
Great video and delivery, thanks!
Thank you❤
Thank you 😊
You are welcome, ohyesidid! Nice name. 😉
Thank you, Miss Berta! Looks delicious. 😊
This is so great! Thank you!😊
Thanks for sharing but lentils is an exception. You can salt them early on and they will still soften quickly.
Thank you for sharing, Lovlou48. I really didn't know that. I am always learning something new 👍🏽
We have always added salt to all our pulses before cooking - and they cook. 🙂
I always add onions, either chopped and sauted before adding uncooked lentils, or adding a whole onion, cut in half with the root intact to cook with the lentils. I also add 3-4 cloves and sprigs of thyme.
thats a great idea, thank you!
Sounds delicious! I'll have to try cooking some with onion (which I really enjoy) with thyme. Thanks so much, michelle. I appreciate your comment. 🙂
Thank you so much for sharing 🥰
thanks
They look delicious
Lentils are so versatile.
Thanks for sharing ☺
Thank You 😊
You're welcome, Candace ☺
Thank you for this video!♡😺
Hi Berta, all my cookware makes an instruction: do not heat above medium heat. Why is that, and can you please recommend a cookware that I can use to cook on high? Thank you and God bless you, you are so sweet and kind and loving! Love your shows!
Other questions I would have to ask, MT, to know how to give you a good answer. I would say, though I am NO EXPERT, that good stainless steel pans, iron (like the company Lodge), or ceramic. You have to do the research and see which ones you like. That's the best I can do., MT. I hope that helps.
@@bertajay thank you very much for responding, God bless you!!!!❤
@@JLMISR You're welcome., MT. I like to help whenever I can. ☺
@@bertajay ❤❤❤
thank you berta!!!!! :)
I enjoy your demos, but I've easily been salt, oil and sugar free for two years. Thank you for encouragement to cook and eat lentils.
You sound miserable!
You can use chicken broth or non chicken broth, too.instead of water
Absolutely, correct...just a personal preference. 🙂
Please share what is bay Leave for
I'll work on it. Thanks for the suggestion. I really appreciate it. 🙂
Thank you!
