Tandoori Jackfruit Bao (Pao) | Vegan/Vegetarian Recipe

- ✿ Veganlovlie Recipes / Steamed buns: A delicious vegan/vegetarian recipe for Tandoori Jackfruit Bao. Baos, or what is also known as pao in Mauritius, are soft fluffy Chinese buns that are often stuffed with either sweet or savoury fillings.
The traditional Mauritian savoury pao calls for various fillings that are predominantly flavoured with soy sauce. For a little fusion twist on the traditional version, in today's recipe, I am stuffing them with tandoori spiced jackfruit which makes a pretty unique flavourful filling.

I’ve been interested in working with jackfruit...your video has inspired me to put my interest into action. 😉
Thank you so much for sharing!
Jackfruit is a great ingredient to work with. It picks up flavours nicely and I love the texture. I think you'll enjoy experimenting with it. 🙂
These look amazing, thank you so much for sharing!! You are one of my favorite you tubers!!
Great, I have to try that!!! 🙏

I have a new colleague at work here in Montreal that comes from Mauritia. I keep telling him about the Mauritian recipes you have on your website. It's super fun to talk about food with him and to show him I know a bit about Mauritian cuisine. This recipe looks delicious, might try it soon.
Awesome! Will make these this week when I can pick up some green Jackfruit! Thanks for the video!

Hello elena. Thank you for the lovely comment. 😊💙
Lovely❤❤
Great vegetarian recipe ! I like it . I hope you will continue to make great content like this in the future.
Keep it up my friend.
In PR the jackfruit is called pepita de pana because it's related to the breadfruit which is pana. Both delicious 👍
Love breadfruit too! 💖
This is a masterclass😀
Thank you Charmian 🙂
Hi... I am new to your channel... Loving your recipes and i have turned whole food plant based..how to do fruit jam without white refined sugar.. I saw a jam you used in your leftover oat pulp cookie/cake...
The buns look amazing and so does the filling. I will be trying this recipe soon. Is there a particular reason to use jackfruit instead of, say, shreded soy chunks? Whenever I have worked with jackfruit I have found it to have an unpleasant gummy texture.
Hi Tanuja....thanks for the recipe! Can you let me know where you got your rectangular knife from.... been looking for something for while now...thanks!
This is worth trying out. I wonder if it's possible to put a really dense coconut milk / sugar vanilla (or other flavor like cacao) / starch mixture inside instead of the jackfruit.
I haven't tried this combination for filling before. But it won't hurt to try, I guess. I sometimes use a sweet red bean filling, like the one in these mochi balls - veganlovlie.com/red-bean-mochi-recipe/
💙🙂
Thanks, that's a great idea!
Can you make lentil burfi?
What does Jackfruit taste like?
Too much work. Any one in Toronto making it, please send me one :)
