Don’t apologize for doing reviews for sponsorships, Stu. With your commission job, wife and young children, your time is valuable. You are up front about products being provided to you, and long time viewers know that you will be honest about your opinions of the products. If these reviews and sponsorships help the channel then it’s all for the best, right? I’m just sorry I can’t use this lamp 😊

Thank you, I wish everyone was as understanding, unfortunately videos like this often attract some negativity (so far none though which is nice).

You need to review some cabinet lights next, I fit some ikea ones to mine a while back and can now see all my minis while I paint, great look behind the scenes 👍🏻

Getting some good ones is on my list. I’ve got some battery ones, but they run out so fast, even when I only have them on for a filming.

Stu. Mate your channel, along with a number of others, has made a huge difference to my painting and my enjoyment of our hobby. I damaged my eyesight in a work accident 16 years ago (ultimately losing an eye). In the early stages afterwards I didn't think I would be able to paint ever again. I overcame that, and now my work is better than it ever was. Good lighting is vital for me, without it I'm painting by braille and guess work. If you have the chance to review a product that is good quality and will enhance our hobby, then you most defo should do so. It's no different than showing how you use the different paints, brushes, basing materials and other such stuff. I see your channel as a source of information and inspiration. I think the negative people need to find somewhere else to play. Don't be disheartened by them Stu. You rock. Happy painting and gaming mate. - Ben.

Lovely to see behind the curtains as it were. You have such a well thought out and nice hobby space to work from no doubt improved upon by the fact that you are a professional painter by trade.
Fantastic that you are getting more hobby stuff to review. Personally I’m fine to watch whatever you are reviewing provided as you said that you give an honest review (warts and all as it were).
I need to work on something more permanent for my own hobby stuff. I used to have a decently set out office with a full desk to work from but I’m currently down to a very small student desk in the sunroom. I have enough space to put in something better such as book cases/shelving so I need to bite the bullet and get it sorted 😅

Great review and the Lumi I got the other week is making a massive difference when I paint. I like the look of the BenQ as it has a stand and thinking it may be worth getting in the Amazon sale as I need all the light I can get in the winter months.

Nice collection of books there too. I have the Sharpe series as well with a mix of hardcover and soft as many I bought 2nd hand. Quite a number of other books I also have though my collection and yours obviously would differ on a few areas such as I don’t own any of the Lord of the Rings game books but I have a fair range of RPG books.
It was good to see your previous tutorial minis all displayed and quite interesting as a side note to see the differences in sizes of the mini when lined up against each other

A man after my own heart Stuart :) I see a few of the same bits and pieces I have.. the Sharpe / Bernard Cornwell books (have you seen his factual Waterloo? Excellent read IIMHO!) Gotrek and Felix of course.. the LOTR books, and I see the Middle Earth map on the wall.. a different one to mine; mine is squarer made of various shades of gold. I see a certain Danish furniture company did well out of you :) I have the same cabinet in my bathroom, and the bookcases are probably the same except mine are light oak colour.
Talking of colour, I love the BenQ lamp. I'm planning a model making setup and although the lamp looks a little pricey, fir the money it looks like the models will be the right colour :)

I've never understood why you UA-camrs apologize when they get sponsored. You've been given a product to give your opinion on and it's part of your job if you're going to survive. Always fun to see behind the scenes and I am extremely disgusted when I see your work in what you say is a small space, I live in a very small apartment and I think your office is bigger than my bedroom where I also paint, it is not quite optimal to sit in bed and do it, but it works.

    • @MiniatureRealms
      @MiniatureRealms  16 днів тому +2

Thank you. I completely appreciate how lucky I am with the size of my work and hobby space, I was more comparing more with some of the big UA-camrs studios really.
…and you’re completely right about apologising, and it’s great you’re so understanding about the realities of it. Sadly videos like this usually attract some snide comments, and often mentioning it helps head some of those off.

@@MiniatureRealms I didn't mean to come across as a bitter old man, I'm happy for you, because you worked for it and I can say that I have olmost stopped watching many of those UA-camrs with big fancy studios, because their content is about more about if thay can paint an entire army in 24 hours than how can you take my hobby to the next level. Now I watch yours and some other "small" channels, because you have something to teach me and they are interesting an great videos, because I don't have time to watch everything so then I choose what gives me something.
Yes, I can understand that you have to "protect" yourself from viewers who are jealous because they themselves don't dare to take the risk of doing what you do. I wouldn't dare make videos myself, not only because I have nothing to teach, but because I don't want to be on camera with neither my face nor my voice 😅.

Oh don’t worry, you didn’t come across as bitter for one moment, I was more concerned I may have seemed ungrateful for what I have. I’m very lucky, and poor wife is very supportive, otherwise I’d never have the space I do.
Thank you for your kind words 🙂
