Wow, your detail on such small figures is amazing. Thanks again for sharing a fascinating tutorial.
Thank you 🙂
I knew I wasn't going to win. That's my lot in life if I didn't have bad luck I wouldn't have any luck at all. But hey, kudos to you actually getting back and saying who is a winner that's very rare. I haven't seen many UA-camrs even my my favorite UA-camrs don't get back with a winner. It's refreshing to see someone actually give some closure. 😊
Thank you. It’s definitely only right a proper to announce a giveaway correctly 🙂
Congrats Aled! Happy painting. Nice tutorial Stu, I have these very fellows to do myself so very helpful
Thank you Dom 🙂
Thanks Dom :).
This is excellent. Motivation to crack out my Montrose army and get at it. Thank you!
Thank you and best of luck with yours 🙂
Thanks for sharing this, especially the tartan.
Thank you 🙂
Excellent work!! You make it look so easy. Keep the Epic videos coming.
Thank you 🙂
Stu, Excellent painting tutorial as always. I’m currently working on Scotts Royalist and have been a bit gun shy painting the highlanders. This vid gives me something to work from. I currently have the infantry and Pike footman done and just started on the cavalry. The painting tutorials you have done on these are helping tremendously!
Thank you, that’s very kind of you, so glad you’re finding them helpful 😊
Brilliant Stu. Got all the Scot’s from this range but just can’t get to them trying to finish off other projects and the forthcoming Hannibal release is making it even harder. I will get to them and this gives me loads of great ideas so thank you. Keep up the great work mate. C’mon the Scots 🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴
Thank you 😊
Thanks Stu that is brilliant :). I have been enjoying painting my Epic ACW and after a totally crap day at work this has cheered me up no end :)
Well I’m glad it was able to do that, congratulations 🙂
Congrats Aled, always nice to get some good news on a day that hasn’t gone well 😀
I'd go nuts painting tiny tartans...
It’s not as bad as it sounds
Congrats, splendid figures!!
Thank you 🙂
Nice. I am painting my Montrose army at the moment, and hope to have a video out on Saturday. I have my first pike and shotte battle tomorrow as well.
Ah excellent, I’ll have to make sure I watch that one. Need some inspiration to get working on mine properly.
Aye laddie 'tis trews ya mean! (My Glaswegian Nan would not be happy with me for that abysmal attempt *lol*) Lovely job as always Stuart :)
😂 Thank you Julian 😊
Very nice looking minis. Some lovely tartan patterns on there that certainly require a steady hand
I was thinking it might be worthwhile for you to do a short video on paint consistency in terms of how you judge it correctly before applying and how that might differ across colours and ranges. When doing this kind of fine detail work you would really be in a bit of trouble to get the consistency wrong as corrections could be a little painful
Thank you mate. That’s an interesting idea, will have to have a think about how that might become something teachable, the main thing is that it varies in each context, and the lesson is the right viscosity is the right viscosity for the job.
It's hard to tell, but it looks like those are baggy to the knee, so I suspect they are neither trews or trousers but rather breeches. If they are, then from the knee down to the shoe would be hose, and so should be separate material. Hard to say without being able to scrutinise the figure.
Thank you. You may well be correct there, I took most of my painting references from the studio paint job, but then again I couldn’t see the moustache and beard on the mini, so this maybe another similar case.
I enjoyed the live hat drawing. Also I believe Trews is correct. Did you know wargames illustrated magazine has a free spew from the hail ceasar epic stuff? I'm hoping to grab some elephants if can find it in stock near me.
Yeah I saw that, normally I’m rushing out to get them, but Warlord were very kind to me (though if they have a Celt frame when I’m in Tesco I may grab one 😂).
Ooo would these work as clansmen of lamedon? Amazing work
I guess so, but they are essentially 15mm, and most LOTR is 10mm or 28mm (but if you’re printing your own at 15 it could work).
@MiniatureRealms Ahh I see yeh. Bit too big even for a 6ft clansmen in 10mm 😆
@jmaccsarmiesofmiddleearth yeah it would be pushing it a bit 😂
Looks great as a mini vignette and command base. For the dwarf flesh do you need to thin that at all or is it straight from the pot?
I've got some sprues for pike and shot from the Warlord summer sale and tester sprues of Epic Hannibal from Wargames Illustrated on the way. If I end up with any Celts I'll try the similar techniques for them and see if my sanity and eyesight hold up.
Thank you. With the Dwarf skin I don’t thin it for miniatures at this scale often, it’s relatively light in pigment compared to other contrast/speed paint type paints.
You are really churning out you vids atm! How are you getting any painting in.
Apart from the ‘Emergency Dwarf’ one on Saturday the rest I’ve had filmed for a few weeks, I just needed to edit them.
prior planning eh!
@rp-h-e9779 Sometimes I’m organised, not often though 😆
I’ve probably missed it. What tufts/basing materials do you use
No you’ve not missed it, I didn’t cover it in this video. Vallejo Earth Texture - Dark Earth, just a mix of 2mm tufts and flowers from different companies.
@@MiniatureRealms thanks. Enjoying the videos as always
