As a note about not having the Portal Gun after the Moon Lord fight: Since you get the drops at the end, you can open the bag (which was shown to be possible) and move it to your hotbar. So the strategy should actually work even without having previously killed Moon Lord on that character, because you get the Portal Gun as a drop anyway lol

Just so you know there's actually a bottomless bucket of honey now. Also the shimmer invincibility could be used in co-op I guess to keep bosses from despawning, one player fights it while the other just keeps it active when they die.
you could do an alt trick to do this too by just having like another computer or somethin. could make for a challenge idea: terraria but bosses dont despawn sounds cool
Throw the Star Cloak into Shimmer, you'll get Chromatic Cloak which makes you immune to shimmering. You can hold down while wearing it to shimmer normally. I think that's the solution for the softlock setups.
@@disguisedcat1750 Yeah I'm pretty sure you're right, all this does is allow you to choose when you want to enter the softlock. I don't think it provides an option to manually stop shimmering once it's started.
Reflecting the nimbus rod the way it does means it might make semi-afk farms better, since you either no longer need to place the clouds high up or you can double the amount of rain projectiles in the line

enemies in shimmer dont disappear for good, theyre still there, just invisible and they cant hurt you until they get back out of the shimmer. theyll slowly reappear and can damage you again right away
@@Staurcomb Even regular Skeletons have a bone throwing attack they can use in the Shimmer I believe, it was really annoying while I was trying to farm for Undead Miners which happened to spawn very frequently near my Aether biome lol

What if you did the fishing test but with the new Star Cloak upgrade (throw the star cloak in shimmer and you get a different cloak that can let you swim in shimmer without shimmer phasing)
The Portal Gun Station can get you out of the Infinite Shimmer if you have it setup on a timer. Or maybe you can interact with Switches while Shimmering and activate it manually
Btw, the "The Wand of Sparking" and the "Wand of Frosting" gets an incredible buff in the new "Everything Seed" I don't know if it's a bug or not, but it would make an cool video. It buffs the total damage from 17 to around 45+\-, so it's really broken
It's not a bug, its a feature of the new upside down seed, which is included in the everything seed. The upside down seed reverses the progression points of some items, such as the key blade being sold by the traveling merchant with nerfed stats and the katana being dropped by dungeon enemies with buffed stats. I think the wand of sparking is swapped with the magic dagger that drops from mimics. So wand of sparking is buffed, but it also only drops from hardmode mimics now.

The shimmer doesn't do many things that can be done via other means. For the corrupt/crimson item conversion, that can be done by crafting in a graveyard (Ecto Mist). Some other things you might expect to be transmutations are instead functions of the new Chlorophyte Extractinator, like turning Gold into Platinum (though the converse can be done by both, since shimmer downgrades ore).

They'll possibly patch it so Shimmering stops during Boss fights, and maybe events as well, especially because of the softlock potential. If an event could stop the Shimmering effect, that would guarantee you can EVENTUALLY be freed without having to leave the world
I think the most likely patch is either for them to remove the ability to use Teleporters while Shimmering, or give Shimmering a flat time limit of like five to ten minutes. That'd fix all the softlock problems without messing up creativity too much
can you make a world completely softlocked by closing off spawn in a shimmer chamber with teleporters, so you can't just log back in? to add to that, can you put a bed inside of one of these chambers? if so, this would be a devious prank to pull on a multiplayer server, on another players bed.

For that shimmer moonlord contraption, why not use the thing that activates when it is day, or the one that is active when is night You could kill moonlord with terraprisma in the span or a morning if timed well
my guess is that this would not work as in the new update EoL no longer does a couple tens of thousands of damage but instead just kills you like trying to teleport home while wall of flesh is spawned.
What about items that can be crafted in multiply diffrent ways? What happens when you throw them into shimmer? (try with mechanical worm, and wood items)

Xenird is right, it depends on the world's evil. I threw a Void Bag I made in a corruption world into shimmer in a crimson world, and I got tissue samples instead of shadow scales. I haven't tested it with other items though.
According to the wiki, putting desert torches into shimmer actually returns hardened pearlsand instead of a different sand item, allowing access to the hallow biome in pre-hardmode. This is likely to be an oversight, to be fixed
Given that you can get the loot, and then save and quit, I'm thinking shimmer based, teleporter based, dungeon guardian auto farm. Just need to shimmer through a portion of the temple that is sticking out to attract a new one every time you pass through....
So you're completely invincible while in shimmer, and you can make an infinite shimering machine, and you can escape it holding a portal gun... Time to beat daytime EoL before it gets patched!
Aetherium block can also be turned into aetherium brick which is even prettier which still isnt much but you did miss so here it is for those that didnt know
This liquid could make quite the cheesing for bosses, on every platform get a shimmer and activate auto-pause, you get the i-frames and you can safely talk to the nurse due to autopause. Just make sure you have a quick way out

@@zixvirzjghamn737 but why does pumping itself have to be post moonlord? imo I think its fair as is. since moonlord gives you an infinite quantity. if you screw up somehow after pumping it, you wont have any aether left until then. You could either use it for decoration or to make a more convenient location. thats it.

I've been trying to build a town in the aether caves for quick and easy access to shimmer. It's pretty difficult when the enemies jump into the giant shimmer lake and turn invisible.
I think it’s worth noting with the myth at 9:16 that you can also “create” an aether biome by throwing an angel statue into shimmer. The item you get in return turns the background into the aether one once interacted with.
8:24 I was thinking some kind of Metroidvania kind of map (such as the Terra Knight map, which is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING and you should play it though my one complaint is that there's very little combat; it's mostly parkour), where you can only access a certain area after you acquire a fishing rod
Wait, with the myth at 5:50 with the zenith, you could possibly make it continue with bubble blocks. You'd just have to use the clock to put zenith at the bottom pool, then it'll dissolve, the materials will float into the next pool, so on and so forth
You should try to see if you can click on a lever while shimmering, because that's a right click action. If you can do this, you might be able to set up dynamite to destroy the contraption, freeing you from the softlock. If you can't, you can still set up a long clock of some kind that you can start before entering the shimmer setup. At the end of the timer, dynamite destroys the contraption and you're free.

6:18 that only happens if the pond is more than 2 blocks deep. Maybe the size is different for larger items such as the zenith sword but I suggest testing different depths
in regards to shimmering into the jungle temple, my friend did that in our 1.4.4 co-op world with two other friends. friend 1 spent 30g on a painting from the travelling merchant and friend 2 thinks the painting is ugly, so friend 1 and I had some fun placing it in hidden places. while F1 was busy keeping F2 occupied, i put down a wall of them in our Twins arena, and placed a few underground via teleportation potion. only much later, when friend 3 logged on, did we find out that he shimmered into the temple *specifically* to spam the painting all over every surface he could. what a legend. in hindsight, i should have realized he was doing that sooner- he asked me where F2 couldn't see if i had any extra paintings, he was musing to himself in VC over how Shimmer acted when you moved it from the pool by removing blocks under it, and he got a Lizhard banner and said "they spawn outside the front door sometimes". that was a clever response, quickly enough i didn't think anything of it. the reaction from Friend 2 and 3 was priceless. the painting was Yuuma, the Blue Tiger btw. now it's an in-joke to just say "YUUUUUUUMA" like that one jojo meme where Jotaro is yelling at Dio in their final showdown
Shimmer is awesome, whenever I get excess potions I just toss them in and get the ingredients. It’s really cool with recall potions. Sometimes they give you the fish which can also craft wormholes

can you make a world completely softlocked by closing off spawn in a shimmer chamber with teleporters, so you can't just log back in? to add to that, can you put a bed inside of one of these chambers? if so, this would be a devious prank to pull on a multiplayer server, on another players bed.
I think that would just delete some of the shimmer when you spawn, this once happened to me with some water on console.

Myth: The Dirtiest Block is immune to the yellow and white solutions when used with the terraformer. It isn't a real dirt block so it ideally shouldn't be converted into sand/snow.
For that shimmer moonlord contraption, why not use the thing that activates when it is day, or the one that is active when is night

my guess is that this would not work as in the new update EoL no longer does a couple tens of thousands of damage but instead just kills you like trying to teleport home while wall of flesh is spawned.

Xenird is right, it depends on the world's evil. I threw a Void Bag I made in a corruption world into shimmer in a crimson world, and I got tissue samples instead of shadow scales. I haven't tested it with other items though.
According to the wiki, putting desert torches into shimmer actually returns hardened pearlsand instead of a different sand item, allowing access to the hallow biome in pre-hardmode. This is likely to be an oversight, to be fixed

Given that you can get the loot, and then save and quit, I'm thinking shimmer based, teleporter based, dungeon guardian auto farm. Just need to shimmer through a portion of the temple that is sticking out to attract a new one every time you pass through....

This liquid could make quite the cheesing for bosses, on every platform get a shimmer and activate auto-pause, you get the i-frames and you can safely talk to the nurse due to autopause. Just make sure you have a quick way out

imo I think its fair as is. since moonlord gives you an infinite quantity. if you screw up somehow after pumping it, you wont have any aether left until then. You could either use it for decoration or to make a more convenient location. thats it.

I think it’s worth noting with the myth at 9:16 that you can also “create” an aether biome by throwing an angel statue into shimmer. The item you get in return turns the background into the aether one once interacted with.
You arent creating the shimmer biome with that its just a visual trick like the pillar monoliths

Wait, with the myth at 5:50 with the zenith, you could possibly make it continue with bubble blocks. You'd just have to use the clock to put zenith at the bottom pool, then it'll dissolve, the materials will float into the next pool, so on and so forth
You should try to see if you can click on a lever while shimmering, because that's a right click action. If you can do this, you might be able to set up dynamite to destroy the contraption, freeing you from the softlock.
If you can't, you can still set up a long clock of some kind that you can start before entering the shimmer setup. At the end of the timer, dynamite destroys the contraption and you're free.
Why dynamite and not actuators to open up a drainage system, with pumps set up to refill afterwards?

6:18 that only happens if the pond is more than 2 blocks deep. Maybe the size is different for larger items such as the zenith sword but I suggest testing different depths
That shimmer moonlord fight was epic, I will give that a shot
in regards to shimmering into the jungle temple, my friend did that in our 1.4.4 co-op world with two other friends. friend 1 spent 30g on a painting from the travelling merchant and friend 2 thinks the painting is ugly, so friend 1 and I had some fun placing it in hidden places. while F1 was busy keeping F2 occupied, i put down a wall of them in our Twins arena, and placed a few underground via teleportation potion. only much later, when friend 3 logged on, did we find out that he shimmered into the temple *specifically* to spam the painting all over every surface he could. what a legend.
in hindsight, i should have realized he was doing that sooner- he asked me where F2 couldn't see if i had any extra paintings, he was musing to himself in VC over how Shimmer acted when you moved it from the pool by removing blocks under it, and he got a Lizhard banner and said "they spawn outside the front door sometimes". that was a clever response, quickly enough i didn't think anything of it. the reaction from Friend 2 and 3 was priceless.
the painting was Yuuma, the Blue Tiger btw. now it's an in-joke to just say "YUUUUUUUMA" like that one jojo meme where Jotaro is yelling at Dio in their final showdown
Shimmer is awesome, whenever I get excess potions I just toss them in and get the ingredients. It’s really cool with recall potions. Sometimes they give you the fish which can also craft wormholes
