    Very thorough review, maybe your best! At 80 lbs sub section and the need for a dolly, with the Maui, I prefer to go with my 18" RCF sub at 100 lbs over 12" tops. Evox 12 is the heaviest I would go in a column array. Maybe a G28 vs Evox 12 video next?

    Justin, thanks you for your Comaparsion, very helpful for picking wich speaker is the best choice. I've rocking J8 for 7 Years very well, but anytime some Wedding locations are very big, theirs is the time for the 12. in my opinion I don’t need Bluetooth and some other Stuff, a great Speaker for my Events, that's it .

    Nice detailed review. On the one hand, it seems like the Maui on paper and perhaps live would outperform the EVOX12 (I've also had some owners of both confirmed this). On the other hand, the EVOX12 is a lot more mobile and adjustable. I chose the EVOX12 because of the mobility, comparatively lightweight sub box, and overall great sound. I think it's to closest to being the swiss army knife for mobile dis. The Maui's are great but at 80lbs, I personally would find it a challenge to bring em out to my gigs. I also think looks are subjective. In white, my EVOX 12 next to an Evolve 50 would hold it's own. Thanks again Justin.

      I bought RCF J8 for the same reason over EV/JBL/etc. Being able to get the tops up high is important, the pole mount makes it easy. Also, with the covers I bought (Lecover brand, with custom sewn pocket), everything is in one carrying case, pole and cable included.

      I agree. I returned my 44s because they were just too big. Honestly, I found it easier to bring my QSC KW181s out. k12 Tops, maybe not so much. But if you are looking for portability, and you don't have a roll in trailer, ramp, or similar the 44s were just too bulky in my opinion. Damn they were nice though. Hate to see them go!

      ...you want to go next level on the ES1203, remove the original subwoofers with the weak AF 2.5in voicecoils in the reflex enclosure and swap in some Made In Italy RCF Transducers with 4in voicecoils instead. You will never look back as an ES1203 system owner.
      I bought (2) of the ES1203's when they first came out, modded them after the 1st gig after blowing 1 of the original woofers, and they are now the most versatile (single system can still be used in stereo where the Maui/EVO/Evox/Bose can't), most robust, best sounding, best tuning with the DSP onboard, portable column arrays. I have tried them all.
      For the rare case where I think I might need some enhanced bottom end, I'll add a single RCF 905...
      The upgraded ES1203's are such workhorses now, I seldom have to roll out my IG4Ts and 8003's...

The wheels on the back of the subs are convenient AF and I love that I can raise the Line Array Speaker to increase the throw or turn it to appropriate positions during an event.. For anyone considering the Evox 12's, I would recommend running them through a Mixer with EQ so you can increase that low end during dancing. I use a Yamaha 10 Channel mixer, during dinner I keep the low end down because no one really gives an F.. plus a Planner, Guest or Venue Management will most likely ask you to turn it down anyways. Once the party starts, just crank up that low end on your mixer and let your crowd enjoy the ride :)

    • @NukePooch1
      @NukePooch1 Рік тому +8

      A lot of the issue is likely due to the low height of the EVs. EV 50s aren't high enough to throw over the heads of the crowd...it's the biggest reason why I got RCF J8 instead. You might try to put your EVs on a riser to get them up higher to see if that helps. From specs, EV 50M are approx 80" high, EVOX12 is 87", Maui 44 is 89", J8 is 90". RCF has the possibility of using taller pole mounts as well. Nothing absorbs sound like people...LOL.

    No, a cord is not better than a connected system. From the get go we can see you're partial to the rcf system by the way the rcf is pushed to the front so it looks twice as large. On aesthetics only the LD is 100X better looking. A mobile DJ or musician should always buy the travel bags made for the system. The features of the LD outweigh the rcf by a lot. The sound quality of the LD systems are phenomenal, they give you a sound like an audiophile speaker.

    I own the RCF 12's not for dj work but having used them on live music gigs for a couple of years can add the following: 90 degree coverage on the the RCFs is a bit optimistic top end drops of fairly rapidly when your off axis. This means that they do project well though. Adjustable poles are super useful. Wheels are great but not tough enough for day in day out use in and out of venues, smooth ground only so don't be tempted to wheel them over anything anyway rough. I would absolutely love to have separate level control over the subs, partly because they seem to be balanced for DJ work. For live music I have to eq bass out of the system.
