  • You really can’t go wrong with either…but when you lay out all the pros & cons and test their sound side by side…there has to be one winner.

This is the best damn video I’ve watched in reference to these two speakers 🔈 systems👍🏼 Outstanding 🔈🔈🔈🔈🔈🔈🔈🙏🏼 I have the LD icoa 15 BT’s and 12 BT’s. I also have the LD 18 sub, I thought I was sold for the upgrade to the Maui 28 or 44 but the RCF has me 2nd guessing .

I own both the Maui 44g2 and Evox 12 systems. Had them for about a year. They both sound really good and I haven't decided which ones to sell - your review was spot on. I will just like to add the Maui 44g2 subs are 80lbs the tops are another 20lbs, so about 100lbs total weight. Evox is way easier to transport (love that) - however the 44g2s (in my opinion) have a better bass and fuller sound (almost like a home stereo) - but I have to really turn it up to get sound to the back of the room. The RCFs have a better throw - however for bigger gigs I sometimes have to bring an extra sub.

Haven't heard the Maui's live, but I own the Evox12s... as hard as it is to admit, the Maui's sounded warmer & had a fuller, rounded/balanced sound in the video. I'd need to hear them side by side first hand to confirm. I really dig the throw of the E12s... I use them at an annual 4th of July event at a local park and they throw a looong way. Bottom is lacking a bit in hotel ballrooms, hence the possibility of investing in a couple 705 subs... My back & vehicle can't handle anything bigger. 😂

Great video - really well presented and I love how you did the back-to-back sound test. I thought the RCF’s sounded way better for a ‘live sound’ speaker.

The biggest differences between these two arrays are also what separates how they can be used. DJ music is heavily compressed with focuses on highs and lows which are perfect for the upper stalk and 12” speaker in the RCF. The Mauii has more mid range speakers in the column as well as a 15” sub making it able to handle live music better. Extra mid range for a live vocalist and extra low end for the kick drum, both with more transients and less compression than recorded music.

RCF cleaner and more crisp. Wih you tested some vocals. But we all know most speakers sound good in a small empty room. True test is at higher spl with a full house and loud people. Still give thanks for the comparison. I had a set of the 44G2s and returned them because they were just too big. Might as well just bring 18" subs and 12" tops. I have the evolve 50s, but wish I had the Evox 12s. The EV50s are very portable but run out of steam a little early.

great demo and presentation. you know your shitE. 🎧🔈🔈
I’d prefer the RCF Evox 12 because of transportability, fidelity, projection, and has plenty of transparent sound and kick for its size. -Mainly used for a five piece gigging cover ban. Ty. 🎤🔈

Great review. You nailed it. I have owned the Evox 12's for a short time and ended up selling due to needing more power. I typically am doing weddings and sweet 16's in the 150 to 200 guests medium to large venue gigs. With my Evox I had to use an extra sub. Where as now with the Maui 44's I can get away with just the 2 columns. Also I feel the Maui's are a bit cleaner on the sound. no distortion where the Evox I felt it was a little dirty when riding close to clip. I wish the Maui was as nice tho to transport. RCF killed it with the mobility wheere as Maui killed it with the sound levels. All in all you cant go wrong with either. Both amazing. I as well want to give a big shot out to KPODJ for hooking me up with my Maui 44's. Once again great review comparison. Best of luck to you in 2024

You say: " Also I feel the Maui's are a bit cleaner on the sound. no distortion where the Evox I felt it was a little dirty when riding close to clip". That shows how opinions vary:) Mostly, people say the other way around. In my opinion the RCF's are more clear and in special on high volumes. Also with direction as Nonay tells in the video. Both are giving you a lot of bang for the bucks. The video was great, did not expect that Nonay would be so clear en keep it real. So up to the other video's of her.

@@testmuts Amen in the end I think as a bride and groom they will appreciate the fact were using either of these high end units. My back tho does wish I still had the RCF's lol. Thinking about buying them again hahaha.

Have you had any issues with the Maui’s limiting out ?

    • @djmikeyt9168
      @djmikeyt9168 3 місяці тому +1

I have. Now having the 44's for a little bit I will be going back to the Evox 12's. I had a 44 go into protection mode on me with the limit light just flashing. I never went solid and it shut down for a good 45 seconds to a minute.

Thanks for these comparisons, Evox definetly sounded punchier, but dang its hard to tell which is better. How would one of these systems stack up against say a hdl20-A with a sub like a jbl prx800? Would the sound be even better considering the additional cost and difficulty of setup? Or would I be wasting time and money. This is the pickle im currently in. Was also looking at the rcf 945a to pair with the prx800

Hey! So that’s a good question. I’m a DJ who does about 100 weddings a year (it’s a lot) and I can tell you that I love the Maui’s for 150 guests or less. The problem with ALL of these column arrays is that you lose throw fast. The evolve 50 for example is a great sounding speaker, but from 20’ away with guests on a he dance floor, it’s so quiet. My solution was to build a massive column array. I purchased 2 of the RCF NXL 24a’s and then I purchased 2 yorkville 118sp’s. With that setup I’m comfortable using it for 350 guests. The downside is that it’s expensive to do. It also sucks to setup and breakdown. The Maui has such a clean sound, however I only use it for weddings with 120-170 ppl. Anything more than that I use the RCF/yorkville setup. You definitely could use the Maui for more guests, just like how you hear about people using a pair of evolve 50’s for 250 guests.
If I was in your shoes, it’s better to have more and not need it than to need more and not have it. I would build a big full range system, but once, cry once, than I would save more $$) and then buy the Maui or evox system. The pro to the Maui/ evox is it’s super easy to transport and setup, tear down. It also looks so much better imo.
      Good luck!

@@ryanlayman2560 Thanks for the knowledge, your recomendation of the RCF NXL 24a’s has sent me down a good rabbit hole. Seems like its exactly what we are looking for. Like the evolved version of the maui style system when you have a sub already. Like a sweet spot for power and clarity

RCF are just too old they need a revamp yes class audio but they look awful and without bluetooth as well.. Maui look and sound amazing so the newer look and functions outway the RCF. A new version needs to come out!
