Full ACK! RR is the first racing simulation I dared to race online. And it's awesome! Sometimes you encounter unfair battles but mostly the ranked races are very fair, especially if you choose one with a minimum reputation. Sadly races attract sometimes only few drivers, but you need not many drivers of equal skill and fairness and you can even have awesome races with just one or two other drivers (as I had this week on Road America). Keep up your awesome content!
Hello Mr. La Broca. My sim racing career began about a year ago, with Raceroom (the free content made it a no-brainer as an introduction to sim racing). Since then I've also purchased several other sims, but I still spend most of my time in Raceroom. Not that there is anything wrong with the others, it's just that Raceroom hasn't given me reason to learn them. If only R3E had mod availability like Assetto Corsa... Great video, thanks for sharing.
The number one best thing RRRE gets right compared to other sims is physics and ffb. AC and ACC have nice FFB and physics, but RRRE takes the cake. Gear changes fx in RRRE adds icing to the cake.
I have More then 1000h in Raceroom and i am One of the fastest in this sim. For me Raceroom have the best Forcefeedback too and you can trailbreak so nice into corners and Stuff. Raceroom makes carfeeling so much better then any other SIM. But i think they have to implimentate Driverswap and More Players on the Server than 36 max. I think when they do this the Playerbase will gro up much more.
100% I would add the to that the best offline custom championships. The only other sim i found that compares is AC... but only if you use a registered version of Content Manager. Adaptive AI is a bonus too.
You inspired me to give RaceRoom another go and it's been a blast! Secured a win on my second ranked race and I'm hungry for more. Keep doing what you do, I've subscribed!
100% agree with those three! I find the ranked racing so much fairer and cleaner than iRacing. If I entered 10 ranked races on RaceRoom, I’d expect 7 of them to be clean and respectful, with the other 3 being affected by poor driving standards. Over on iRacing, I’d say 4 clean races out of 10 is a realistic number. This isn’t based on any solid data, just my general experiences over 2021. Basically, you’re far more likely to get a clean race in RaceRoom. Which for someone like me, who only does sim races a week, is a massive advantage 😃
I love Race room Ben the touring cars are superb in it, I cant bring myself to race online due to my anxiety as I would worry far to much about ruining other peoples races
R3E was my go-to sim for quite a while, often coming back after trying ACC or (currently) AMS 2 just from the sounds and amount of content available. I'm well aware I spent far more than the... I think it was $120 at the time the Premium Pack would've cost me from buying packs bit by bit, but I don't regret my purchases. That said, my biggest issue with the sim is definitely the lack of racers outside the EU (as stated in the video). I did manage to partake in at least one ranked race, but only having 3 cars on the grid was quite lackluster. I see how much more populated EU server races are, but the last thing I would want to do is ruin other people's races with too high of a ping from here in the US. Still, I'll likely come back to it again at one point or another, just for some fun.
You could try the EU servers, I regularly play them from Canada with around 100 - 120ms ping and have no issues. Raceroom netcode is excellent (very forgiving) and close racing is no problem. The server will kick you out if your ping gets too high. Good luck
Yes, as Roz said, ping should probably work for EU servers. Of course it depends where you are in the US and time zones can be a problem too, but you should try it. I race regularily with people from US and Canada and it works well most of the time.
Didn't think I would agree on everything you say but here I am nodding my head constantly. FFB feels fantastic and I even had the exact same thought about the improved ACC FFB. Touring cars are always nice and ranked is usually very enjoyable and nothing conpared to the shit shows I experienced in many other titles. It's been over 8 years of playing R3E for me and I always come back from other titles because it's just that enjoyable, especially the non-standard stuff.
While I agree with your list, I'm surprised, that the massive amount of content Raceroom has to offer (not just touring cars) is not on this list. Especially when it comes to tracks, there are some hidden gems like Bilster Berg, which you can find nowhere else.
Hey buddy - thanks for stopping by! I know!! I had two or three other things that nearly made the cut, and rare north European circuits was definitely one, as was the range of classic cars. Ultimately went for the other three areas, but you’re spot on that there’s a lot more besides to enjoy about RaceRoom!
R3E seems to go unnoticed by a lot of people and I kinda get it, but it's still my go to simulator for both online races and time trials. I'm by no means a fast driver but people seem to be pretty friendly. And it's always fun to have the retro racers in it. IMSA GTO, 90s DTM, group 4, group 5, group C.. Another note too, what other simulator has such a good variety of DTM cars over the years? I know they only have the Mercedes entries for the late 90s and early 00s, but still.
i really enjoy the dtm 2013-2016 classes, its just so amazing to see national cups in a sim. In 2015 i was at the dtm race on the red bull ring it was amazing and the game captures this feeling so well.
Tempted to get the premium pack. Done a couple of the free track's. I normally play ACC. But I do like the look of Raceroom for begginers. Seems more forgiving than ACC so might be good to gain confidence with.
Nice vid, I agree with you. Problem for us here in Australia is the lack of numbers on the ranked servers. Yes you can race in the Euro server but usually get kicked for high ping. Hopefully numbers will increase so we can enjoy some good racing.
Just did another wtcr race at zandvoort and had a very close race with another guy fighting for 4th position, you just can’t do that in iracing unless you are in the top too split

Great video, Ben! Totally agree. Apart from the already mentioned strengths of R3E (FFB, ranked, AI, netcode, ...), there are 2 other things I really like about it. Though, the second one is surely controversal. 1. All cars and tracks are on a very high quality level. Though there are minor differences in quality (mostly tire/physics versions of the cars), you can always randomly pick any car/track combo and you know it will be good. 2. There are no mods possible. A disadvantage at first look, but it keeps me away from looking for mods, having the trouble installing them, then testing, looking for newer versions maybe, or a better mod for the same car and so on... It can be fun, of course. But when you don't have a lot of time for the sim racing hobby, this time is better spent driving and racing. Yes, of course, no one ever has to install mods, but once they are there, we all will do. So, for me it is a feature. : D
I've had an absolute blast on Raceroom this week. BM's at Road America, TC's at Zandvoort and those radgie little cars at Zolder. It hasn't been without its hiccups though. I have my B licence on iracing and the last series I dabbled in were the IMSA Michelin and the prototypes. Don’t get me wrong it was broadly ok and I still enjoy Iracing a lot - it’s just I always find myself driving properly conservatively given likelihood of crashes ruining a session. I'd love to revisit RaceRoom after 3 years exclusively iracing...However...I can only get the sim to launch in 32bit mode, 64bit does nothing, when it does launch in 32 it will not recognise my Meca Cup 1 pedals and I can't join the forum to ask for help because their captcha is broken. Shame really but there's only so much headspace a person can give it before they give up.
I love the ranked mode in Raceroom (done over 400 races) but i think claiming it's even anywhere near what iRacing offers just isn't true. Lacking features such as endurance races, driver swaps, or just the fact that there's people online in almost every series no matter what time you are playing on makes it much more valuable for the average racer especially if you reside outside the EU.
Hey buddy - thanks for watching and stopping by. Yeah as I mentioned scale and breadth wise nothing comes close to iRacing, and I also acknowledge shortcomings of RaceRoom too. But I really do prefer RaceRoom’s ranked races over iRacing’s in terms of what you get out for what you put in. Totally understand why you, or indeed many others might see it the other way though! It will also be interesting to see how Low Fuel Motorsport can grow in terms of providing a similar service for ACC, and I believe AMS2 have partnered with a team to develop a ranked system for them too.
@@Ben_LaBroca ACC or AMS2 will not get anywhere when it's required to sign up a third party service. It needs to be developer supported just like RaceRoom.
I play all sims except iracing due to the expensive service. All have their streghts and weekneses but all are enjoiable. From raceroom I love all the licensed championships.
So I made a video on that very question a few months ago when it seemed like it was in a bit of trouble. I think it's getting back to where it was by the looks of things - more content and more busy servers. I just haven't had time to get back on there and test it myself. The fundamentals of the driving will still be brilliant I'm sure!
Everyone should try AUtomobilista 2 after these new updates. Its just awesome the FFB feels better then in all other sims now. I use a T300, and Thrustmaster made also update for the T300 wheel, now with Boost Mode, and with automobilista 2 it feels just great!!! First update your T300 then play the updated Automobilista 2!!!
@@boogityboogity7633 I dont play online, almost never, but i can understand you, if automobilista is not good for online racing. But the new force feedback together with the thrustmaster t300 firmware update, is really great. I love raceroom and that June update was very very special. Raceroom ffb and physics are incredible BUT now you have a DD wheel, race a S397 GTE or LMP2 car at Sebring or Nords and then tell me raceroom is still the best for ffb, physics and track details. RF2 ffb on a DD wheel, nothing compares or comes close to it. This is one time I’ll have to respectfully disagree with you. RF2 is on sale, treat yourself and your DD wheel to an amazing driving experience!
I do agree treedt iracing and foun it awfull. Love ranken but ai rating is alsof gratis. Live the fact that you can lean at otter cars and race verre close without crashing.
Ha hey buddy - I don’t dislike iracing! Largely enjoyed my time on it this year, got my subscription for 2022 and planning to bring more races from it to the channel. I just find I get more enjoyment from R3E when it comes to ranked online is all. And as I’ve raced in iracing quite a bit, and given it is the market leader and dominant force in online racing, it felt like an appropriate comparison. I play all sims except iracing due to the expensive service. All have their streghts and weekneses but all are enjoiable. From raceroom I love all the licensed championships.
Great
how is race room in 2022?
If you are like me and are only interested in online racing, the game has currently nothing to offer. There's not a lot of people playing it
@@boogityboogity7633 I dont play online, almost never, but i can understand you, if automobilista is not good for online racing. But the new force feedback together with the thrustmaster t300 firmware update, is really great. For my taste the best ffb from all sims, even better then Rfactor 2, you should try it, just make offline race with a GT3 car.
It will be good when it gets a ranked system implemented its good now but that will make a huge difference
@@trevz1048 no it wont. It’s gonna be some third party site you will have to sign up to which just creates another barrier to entry for the average user. Unless Reiza themselves are responsible it won’t be active. I can guarantee that
I love raceroom and that June update was very very special.
Ty for the heads up about the sale. What a deal! Just picked it up
I do agree treedt iracing and foun it awfull. Love ranken but ai rating is alsof gratis. Live the fact that you can lean at otter cars and race verre close without crashing.
we get it, you don't like iRacing
Ha hey buddy - I don’t dislike iracing! Largely enjoyed my time on it this year, got my subscription for 2022 and planning to bring more races from it to the channel. I just find I get more enjoyment from R3E when it comes to ranked online is all. And as I’ve raced in iracing quite a bit, and given it is the market leader and dominant force in online racing, it felt like an appropriate comparison. Totally respect others will prefer it over others though!
R3E is total outdated arcade game
