25 yrs ago when I was newly divorced with 2 sons, my best friend would drive 1 hour to my house twice a month to clean so when my soon to be ex husband would bring the support check it looked like I had my life together. I worked full time. I’ll never forget that kindness she showed me. Storm kicking Johnny, you are the best!!❤

I have to say.. I love the “realness” of these homes. Not only does it encourage me as a busy busy mom to see these houses get cleaned.. it also helps ease my stress of feeling inferior to all these other “cleaning” videos of perfectly beautiful non realistic houses.

What you accomplished was... weeks-worth of late night sessions of exhausted sorting as a solo parent... And when you're burnt out after work, and your energy goes to caring & feeding your kids, "little" tasks like these (that aren't life or death!) stack up. What a gift 💛

My mom taught me to wash up my cooking dishes by having a sink of soapy water going while I cook. Once one gets used to doing this, it is so much easier to deal with the little dishes when one is full of food. I wash as I cook so when we start to eat almost all the cooking pots and pans have already been washed. After a meal my husband does the eating dishes and dries the cooking dishes. I love this so much I bought a fridge magnet that says "No woman ever shot a man while he was doing the dishes."

Let me assure you as someone who has lived in America my whole life im in my 50s. I have never been inside a mansion and no one I know has either. It's the media that shows the 1% of Americans who live like that and on shows make it seem like everyone live like that that. The average person lives in less than 2000 square feet in the US. and most of us live paycheck to paycheck that is a fact. I wish that thi is were portrayed more accurately. Even the tv shows of average American show huge houses when they work as police or fire or office workers. We can not afford the house they show on these shows with our salaries.

We provided the stove, fridge, a/cs and heaters! It's a nice little home but it needs loads of work. Linens and towels feel wet when you pull them from cabinet to use. TV has clouded the minds of many, sorry for that. We are all trying to make it as best as we can.

As a working single caretaker of a disabled adult, my heart started aching at "the dirtiest room in the house, her room" and basically didn't stop. :') My room got to be a disaster area while the rest of the house was clean for similar reasons. I know all the other single moms are chiming off their appreciation in the comments, but seriously, this sort of thing feels like being pulled onto a life raft when you're drowning.

surprising how expensive bedclothes are, especially the actual pillows themselves! easy way if can’t afford pillowcases, just take the top sheet (especially good if a bigger one than the bed size) and put it entirely over the bed, with the pillows underneath. top sheets are sometimes not otherwise in use by people anyway and can come with a bed kit (like a bed in a bag, which sometimes only come with one or two pillowcases). a blanket can work for this purpose too. blankets can be cheaper, actually. like from the dollar store or whatever. or just cheaper wherever (eg target, walmart)…

Yes! Keeping it together is hard! What worked well for me was being on a schedule, putting things back immediately after using it, everyone cleaning as we go including dishes. With this method, there was very little left to clean during cleaning times. At the time, I worked full time, in college full time, single mom with a house and 3 kids. My house stayed cleaned. The kids were on board. I would get up at 5, cook a meal that didn’t take for ever. Throw a load in the laundry, come home on lunch to fold. Kids warmed the food up when they got home from school. They had a nap, chore and study schedule. I took classes in the evenings, 3 days per week. I graduated with honors, all three kids were honors students. I stayed busy but the house was clean always.

Three of my children were disabled, meaning I had to be there. So I had to figure out how to make money from home. Reselling wasn't easy without the internet. The job led to disability, and now after the depression of finally being an empty nester in 2020. Yes! they are all successfully on their own with the help of SS, but independent. I am overwhelmed. If there's anyone in Albuquerque that does this. This poor (fixed income) lady would be ever so grateful. I'd find a way to pay a little. You are really appreciated on this job. As a working single mum myself , She's got to much stuff I had too much stuff, we never get time to decluttering enough then we buy stuff so nothing changes!!
I downloaded goodbye things, It really helped me with the final push I needed, As humans we don't need a lot to survive, we don't need another bag, top, gadgets etc. It's just having awareness and been mindful of what you do buy. Its taken me over a year and its journey. My house is easier to clean with less items in it. Great video

I think I must be the most unfeminine woman I know when it comes to having a bunch of pillows on my bed. I have NEVER wanted a stack of pillows on my bed because I see it as a bunch of stuff I have to move every night before I can go to bed and a bunch of stuff I have to put back on every morning and that just seems like a bunch of unnecessary work to me. I have the two pillows that should be on the bed and that's it! I know that most women LOVE all those pillows but I just never have.

I use Weimes on our stainless steel fridge, sinks, kettle etc. Its just mineral oil byt chemically altered. A word i never remember...conversion? You just rub and buff like polishing. It leaves no film but it also buffers future marks. We have a Bunn coffee pot. I use magic brand calcium shower cleaner around top where you pot water as that is plastic and silver base then use Weimers. It helps the calcium not stick as much.

    Hey SKJ (Spin Kick Johnny)..
To add to your SS sink cleaning. (You probably know this already). Get a sponge sandpaper block, or wet-or-dry sandpaper, 80 grit or so. Using the original sanding directions you can wet sand the Stainless Steel back to it's original look. I do this to ours once in a while when it starts looking scratchy. Thanks for the videos, wisdom, and fun! Sandy & Brad.

It is a glass of water and vinegar that works. It loosens all the gunk and makes it easy to wipe out. The vinegar also kills the smell. It works wonders for microwaves and ovens.
I live In a home from the 30s, it is a rent home and the company refuses to come fix anything. It has been frusterating maintaing because it is falling apart. I work full time, go to university and run a small buisness. My daughter is 13 and husband is not domesticated. It gets to be completely overwhelming trying to keep up with anything. I work with a power hour. A power hour is a set hour of time to accomplish whatever you can without stopping. With ADHD, I find it to be helpful with my busy schedule.

Here's a cleaning tip for the expert : If you ever notice the 'gung ring' starting to build up in your bathroom sink pipe below the drain hole and down near to the trap ( especially true if you have one of those screw in, pop up/down stoppers ? ) Awkward to get rid of, right, since drain cleaners normally can't 'sit there and clean it' properly ? Unscrew and remove the stopper, and a bottle cleaner brush gets rid of it, with a few quick swishes, and it looks as good and clean as new when you're done ( and it also smells better) ! Remember not to use it for any bottles again, though, because that would just be gross - 'one brush, one use' is the rule here !! Try it - you'll like it ! ;)
