  • Remember the beginning of quarantine when we were all baking bread and doing big cooking projects for dinner every night? Well, now it’s summer and it is far too hot to keep your oven on for extended periods of time.
Which is why this is a great opportunity to clean your trusty baking machine. We were intrigued by this account out of Australia that claims you can clean your entire oven-walls, door, shelves-using just a lemon. (Or, as the post calls it, a “LEMON”.)

if you add the lemons to hot water, leave in oven at 350 degrees for an hour, let cool then wipe off. Any stubborn spots then try bi-carb soda and vinegar to dissolve wipe off

I mix equal parts lemon juice and vinegar pour some on the oven then sprinkle bicarbonate of soda on top. Leave for 20 mins then use a non scratch scourer to get off any stubborn bits. Works way better than my oven cleaners do.

At least for microwave this works: get a microwave safe recipient (like a pyrex dish), put water into it, cut a lemon in half and put it in face down in the water. Put the dish into your microwave and turn it on for 5 minutes. Then don't open the door, and wait another 5 mins. Then open the door, remove the dish and something 90% of the grease will come off with one or two kitchen paper wipes. In other words... you don't just need lemon, you also need vapor.

All the videos tell you to heat the oven with lemons inside and you all would choose the one that says to stupidly rub the lemon on the door and wipe. I'm looking for a video that tests the other method.

Nope, what you should use is baking soda paste (water and baking soda but very thick paste, not watery) and smear all over. Then, sprinkle Dry baking soda over that. Next, using a spray bottle with Apple Cider Vinegar (not clear type) and spray all over the baking soda paste and watch it bubble up. Let it sit there for 20-30 minutes. Take paper towels to wipe it up and then throw in trash. Then, use wet bath towel to get residue and then dry with dry towel. Don't like the smell....keep overhead stove fan on and open doors for a cross breeze to help get rid of smell.

you mean the method they listed at the beginning of the video as another fail?

@@johnmcboston OMG, what a POOR listener you are. He said he used baking soda and a magic eraser. NEITHER did anything. DUH. They will not work. I SAID:" BAKING SODA AND APPLE CIDER VINEGAR." It is the REACTION that happens that cleans the oven. Baking soda is an alkaline and ACV is an acid. Mixed together and it causes a reaction that bubbles forcing the two to mix. Left on, the ACID from the ACV eats through the crud. That woman from Australia used lemon. If it indeed worked then her oven was not all that filthy. And, if it worked for her, then she should have made a video...PROVING IT.

You need to cut the and and sit them in water, and then bake them for 30 minutes and then wipe down your oven. So it cuts through the stuff.
