- The Eastonmade Axis has already made its presence felt at our wood yard. We made a lot of firewood this week that would not have been produced without it. This is a well built machine and fits nicely into our style of firewood production!

Thanks Ken. I'm feeling pretty good now. Joe
What I like about that splitter is you have a genuine workstation to spend your day at. Waist level, a smooth, slippery surface to easily manuever material around on, and lots of space for bigger knockoffs. Beautiful machine. I'm seriously thinking about going from our 27 ton Speeco to that one.
Joe, your method of positioning the rounds to split is as efficient as I have seen.
GREAT VIDEO ! YOU HAVE A LOT OF DIFFERENT EQUIPMENT ! OMG ! YOU HAVE AN ARMY OF EQUIPMENT FOR JUST ONE MAN ! ARMY OF ONE !
Nice to see how quickly your business is evolving with the addition of the Bobcat and the Axis. Real game changers for sure.👍
Thanks Eric. Our growth has been fast and fun!
That’s a beautiful machine Joe. Between that axis and bobcat your back is going to last a lot longer. Thanks for the video.
I'm hoping so Harold. I keep getting older each day!
Joe, With the new equipt you're using today and the ease at your spilitting efforts I can easily sense your pride and your vision going forward to expand your operation the future. God speed! GR 08 Jun '21
Glad to see im not the only one with Pink Sidewalk Chaulk🤣🤣👍👍👍
LOL. I have tried every color but it seems pink stands out the best. Funny at times your line is difficult to find especially if the log turns some. Pink works great. Joe
@@ohiowoodburner Absolutely. 100% agreed 👍
Love to see the round completely together after all the splits are done...that is efficiency.
Very satisfying to look at too
Super, Super nice video of that machine and you using it. Works amazing for your customer's specifications. You're point about not returning wood back for further processing is spot on. This machine keeps the wood in place until moved away.
This is perfect for our style of firewood Mike. Thanks.
Mr Joe it's such pleasure 🙂 watching UA-cam you h ve invested alot on New mc s you benefiting on your farsight you truly work smart pasion
Definetly my favorite splitter that Andrew makes. Nice choice for your bundled wood.
Thanks 👍
Thanks for the video! The Axis looks like a great addition to your operation! She sure splits wood nicely. Great power, precision, and speed!
Thanks 👍Dave!
Great video. I can't wait to see how the woodyard yard in the back gets setup and all the amazing things to come!
Hope to have it moved when the ground dries. Joe
Hello Joe, you look like a gentleman wood splitter this morning. you're a step ahead of me with both splitter conveyers falling into one long central conveyer.
I'm not there yet. It's just an idea but I have a way to go
I'm so glad they let a good person like you use there machine. They made a great choice
Thanks for the kind words FIB!
Nice machine. I have watched Adam at Hometown Acres use his alot. Seems like a real production booster.
Thanks for the video Joe! Got my Eastonmade fix this morning! Can’t ever get enough lol!
They are a lot of fun to run for sure Judd
Dolmar makes a great saw! You're right, they are smooth running. You pointed out one of the reasons I like the Axis - square firewood. Plus, I don't know what it is about watching you guys use the Eastonmade equipment but it seems like they have nailed the knife; splits like it's going through butter. Keep up the good work!
So can we talk about the Dr Pepper holder on the machine. Ha. Loved it
Another wonderful OWB production(video and splitting). Have a GREAT day👍
Our pleasure Brian!
Running that splitter like a PRO. Nice addition to the wood yard. Be safe
Thanks Ben!
Hey Joe, I always loved seeing the Axis with Hometown Acres, great to see you also using one now. I hope that despite all this cool new stuff you keep working on the restructuring of your woodyard, I'm looking forward to how this will look like finally.
Greetings from Germany ✌
That's the plan Johnannes. I have to figure out some things with mud mitigation and the road to get there but I hope to start getting moved back there when the ground firms. Joe
I just cried. I think I hate you. LOL I am soooooo jealous. All the work I've killed myself to do with ax and maul that could be done in minutes with so little effort? Even a lifter and conveyor belt? :-( One day I will have this!!!
Hi Joe - it's Big Rodders in Ireland. A xuoer insight into the Axis operation and a thumbs up to your Head of Video Production also, much appreciated. I have always been a vertical splitter fan due to accuracy of split size and minimal wood movement on the splitting table. The Axis 14 ton capability also proves you don't need massive tonnage to produce the goods. I used to produce 150 cords a year using a 13 ton Thor splitter run by a 9hp Robin engine - but no lift or conveyor! I suffer from cold feet in wintertime so use a wooden mat made from D shaped fencing planks held together by webbing straps to insulate me from the ground. Some guys use sawdust as an insulator but I am hyper about trip hazards. Keep on Splitting!!
Always great to hear from you Big Rodders. The Axis is well built indeed and so far proves to be very productive. Which is nice for me and my back! Joe
Awesome video like that new splitter
Thanks 👍
Another great video Joe! Awesome to watch the evolution of your business.
Thanks Sam!
Thank you for sharing your day with me
I like their splitters to
Have a great day
You got it Mike! Joe
Hey Joe, just doing my Sunday before church UA-cam watching. As always, good video. Take care, from NW Ohio.🇺🇸👍
Joe, the consensus word on the street by the UA-cam chainsaw gurus the dolmar 7900 is one of the best all time chainsaws(the older the better) and the dolmar brand chainsaw in general is elite......just passing that on thanks again for your great videos👍☺️
Thanks Gary. Get your shovel ready...need it this week!
@@tonykeller2839 I am in agreement. Great saw!
Again just want to mention the quality of the camera work. Real talent that usual goes unnoticed but critical to a good video as well as excellent audio.
Thanks Richard. I will let her know!
Absolutely! The amount of work that goes into a great video is often under estimated and under appreciated
Very well made videos. Good camera work. Very humble guy. Never talks like a know it all.
GREAT,GREAT MACHINE. LOVE WATCHING IT WORK. STAY SAFE AND GOOD LUCK.
Thanks Alan!
Really cool Joe! Great operation!
Glad you enjoyed it Tom!
Great machine Joe, nice video
Thanks Don!
Pretty cool wood buster
Indeed it is Harry!
Thanks for the video.
You bet, Mark!
Joe, Quality machine! Good filming Emily! 🚜🪵👍🏼🇱🇷
Emily did the editing on this one. She is away at college. My youngest DD filmed this one.
Really nice machine - I can see the benefits of the work position. No bending over the log to position it. This will make you more productive and less fatigued at the end of the day.
Totally agree Bob. Thanks for watching
Brilliant! You are our inspiration
Wow, thank you Ben!
Looks great Joe Eastonmade is a great company
Indeed they are!
Another awesome video!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
I want one. Congratulations for your new acquisitions!
Thanks Abram!
oh boy this is one amazing machine ! ..
It really is!
Two years ago.
Back then you were a SMALL firewood delivery service.
You have a great set up in your woodyard. Giving me some good ideas. Thumbs up!
I am moving the entire production area to my back field. That will take place this summer.
Nice to see the close ups of the machine and it’s workings
More to come!
Keep up with the improvements in the efficiency of your business! The Easton and Tractor will both go a long way in improving how fast you turn out wood and how much energy you need to exert to do it.
Thanks, will do John. Having a lot of fun. Joe
Beautiful machine! Very satisfying to see such clean, fast splitting.
Thanks CH!
Can you limit the top of stroke, closer to end of the piece, it looks like you are 6” above, lost time in the stroke?
I love the idea of setting up so both machines feed a longer central conveyor to load the trailer. Just a thought for your bundle wood you might consider sorting out the inside square pieces for bundles and market as "premium barkless" bundles. Have a great day, sounds like we have some snow coming tomorrow.
Great idea about the center pieces Jason
Love the Axis.
It is a great machine. Still getting to know it but already has made an impact with us.
Nice looking splitter!
Thanks!
Morning Joe that Easton made cutter go's through wood like a knife through butter u seem to be at ease with the machine plus it makes it easy on your back another good vid Joe u till next time.
Very correct on all points Toni. I like it a lot. Joe
A good friend of mine ordered a axis, can't wait to check it out when he gets it!
I think he is going to like it. Do you live near him where you can use it? Man are they big!
@@ohiowoodburner yup. He is about 10mins from me. He most likely will be buying our big firewood off us for it so it might end up in our yard.
That is a really nice splitter!
It sure is Ryan. It is a blast to run as well. Joe
Nice camera work, enjoy seeing the little details as the machine runs.
All credit goes to my daughter!
I wasn't a fan of those at first but now that Ive seen how they work and what they can do, it would be a perfect addition to my Super Split (if it ever gets here lol)
You may be on the same road as I was. The SS is an awesome machine but when you start getting bigger wood you will want a bigger splitter like the Axis. Joe
Hey joe I am also a long time user of sidewalk fir measuring! Great video looking forward to the Wednesday video of the coming snow!
Thanks Steve! Joe
The axis is awesome 👌I love the Dr pepper holder 😂 Keep the videos coming!
Thanks Matt. The Dr Pepper dispenser is a great option to have!
Wow! That's an amazing splitter! Nice to see someone like myself, that uses a tape measure and lumber crayon to keep the lengths uniform. As for saws, I have been using Makita/Dolmar for about 16 years, and I find them about as good as you could ever want. I have used Huskies, and Jonsered, which were also good saws, but he Makita is the one I have liked the best.
Thanks for the nice post Ken. We seem to have a lot in common!
I like your new video today you did a really good jop you have nice wood we are get some snow i been work and the snow good jop the moming you will get all this wood down buddy
Thanks TC! Stay warm!
Good night too you guys buddy
Eastonmade! 👌🏻🔥🇨🇦
Thanks!
Impressive.
Thanks Buck!
Hey Joe. I’m happy for ya !!! Be sure to lube your conveyor chain .... Watch outdoor with the Morgan’s ....watch his new system ... you may already be a subscriber . But it’s a must watch. Thanks again. Craig. Pa.
Already saw it Craig! Joe
Collles Video 👍💪💪Mfg Martin
I like the ample work table that machine provides.
Totally agree. The work table is a homerun! Joe
Great Video! Please be safe!
Thanks Barry
Awesome machine
Indeed it is Adam. It is a lot of fun to run as well.
@@ohiowoodburner if it’s fun it’s not work! Keep up the great work
Good morning Joe! Can you order those Eastonmade splitters to dispense different brands of soda?? 🤣 Thanks for sharing! Have a good one.
They only dispense Dr Pepper for now!
Hahaha Todd I was thinking the same thing ay about the 2min mark..
Well I’m just sayin I would be more apt to get one if you could order it to dispense Mountain Dew or ice cold Coke😆
@@ohiowoodburner ... too bad :-( ... I guess I'll have to go find a brand that will dispense Mt. Dew!
@@toddsoutsideagain : Coke would be a nice feature to add, or maybe a Miller when you are done.. 😁👍
Looking good, Eastonmade, Bobcat and Dolmar. Make cutting and splitting much easier, less wear and tear on your back.
You got that right Steve! Thanks
I found the sidewalk chalk cheap and effective. Outus plastic chalk holders on amazon heep my pockets clean and chalk from breaking! Keep up the good hard work.
Great minds think alike Pat!
Looks like a awesome splitter, with your new tractor you would really benefit from IBC totes to split right into 👍
I agree. I'm looking at bulk solutions. Not sure yet
Prepping for the big snow coming next couple days!
Same here Geoff. I'm all set up now. Let it snow!
You get the perfect size firewood all in the first step. No respiting!
Yes that is one of the strengths of the Axis. All the splitting is done before it goes into the trailer.
Looking forward to a kindling video with that machine
I don't make kinding until the fall. I'm not sure how it would do making it bc the wedge doesn't have a knife edge on it like the Super Splitter does. Should be interesting to see.
Looks like you took the advice on keeping your hands on the side of the round to save your thumbs. Bad habits are easy to form and when you are splitting for hours the mind tends to wander. About the motor running flat out, I might verify that with Eastonmade. Often you can run hydraulics at a slower RPM and the force/pressure is the same, the speed of the cylinder is just reduced. Might save the hearing and the fuel bill if you're not in a big rush to throttle down a bit. Nice machine and very interested in how the Briggs & Stratton motor holds up.
Thanks Brian. I am a B&S fan and I think the engine is great. Joe
Looks great Joe. My first saw was a Dolmar!!!
Thanks Andrew. Love the Dolmar. Great saw. Joe
Great video Joe. That Axis is a Beast. A nice pair of long tongs or a pickeroon would serve you well with getting those rounds of the lift
Thanks Mike. I have a Logrite Hookaroon. You can see it in the vid. Joe
Awesome to see the Axis working in your wood yard Joe. Great video as always. Dr Pepper is great as well. I am partial to Mtn Dew and Dr Pepper. 👍🏻
One of the best features of the Axis is the Dr Pepper dispenser!
@@ohiowoodburner I agree 100% Joe. 😊👍🏻👍🏻
Joe, another great video. The rapid evolution of your business is incredible. Your focus on safety and quality will pay long-term dividends. I was wondering/ worried about splits kicking out, particularly when resplitting a smaller piece. Glad to hear no issues. I also noticed what I assume was a wheel barrel just off camera. Occasionally you threw an ugly piece off to the side. Those little things make a difference so you don't have to worry about your helper loading a bad split a year from now. Great job to both you and Emily, as always 👏
Thanks Glenn. All the ugly wood goes to our woodshed. I throw them right into the wheelbarrow and then off to the wood shed. I try to avoid picking things off the ground as much as I can. Joe
Get some pallets to stack wood on is what I use to do and I had firewood stack as high as I could safely reach above my head. Most places will give you pallets to get rid of them. I use to sell pallets as well when I sold firewood. Have a great day and be safe.
My whole yard is filled with free pallets I have been picking up in town. All my wood is stacked on pallets. Joe
I like the cup holder that the axis comes with hahah nice video brother
Standard feature for 2021!
@@ohiowoodburner indeed brother keep up the great work
Love the Dr. Pepper hidden in the manual tube! Lol! Hilarious!
Standard feature on 2021 models! LOL
I think that once you get your permanent wood yard set up, that you will have about the best possible one man configuration for just about any type of log you get and any type of order you will fulfill. Fast, efficient, versatile and dependable.
I do commend you on all your wise choices and decisions!!
Keep those videos coming and I will keep watching them!!!
God Bless.
Thanks fr the nice comment Pierre! I hope to keep posting vids!
Nice machine and again enjoyed the filming... some variety shots and not too quick so that you can check out the different sections of the machine!!!!
Thank you very much Duane!
good vid
Thanks Fabled1
Joe, great video! You need a "Mingo Firewood Marker". It works real easy and fast.
I had one. It worked ok but it got a pain when the log would roll or if I had to improvise on a cut that threw off the rest of the marks. And the paint can was an annoyance for me at times
Great video. Great machine. Seems perfect for your business.
Love watching it being used. Lol
I see you didn’t adjust your stroke yet. Lol
Keep the vids coming. Thanks
I forgot to adjust it for this vid! The camera makes me forgetful
@@ohiowoodburner
lol no problem. Really like your channel. By the way. Always thought that super splitter was awesome ever since I saw it for the first time about 4 years ago. You’ve made some great choices on all your equipment.
With another person filling and staging the rounds the production would be unbelievable.
I agree. even alone it does great!
Nice camera work
Thank you so much 😀
You might want to try those fire wood bags you hang from your tractor forks. Go from your conveyor straight into the bag. Holds about 1/3 of cord. Saw Mike Morgan use them recently in his fire wood operation. On Outdoors with the Morgan’s. Save you on handling process and they will season faster in the bags. Enjoy your videos.
I am looking into a bulk solution. Bags may be the way to go but not sure. I think to use bags properly you will need a trommel to clean the chaff from the splits...don't want them in the bag. I also don't think the wood will season faster in a bag vs stacked but I am open to any studies or evidence otherwise. Joe
@@ohiowoodburner
Looked up a company called northern woodsmen and found the bags an info. Have a good day
I have a homemade horizontal splitter with a 8 inch wedge. I roll 3 foot ash rounds onto it & split them. Also have a 044 still saw that I'm betting will go head to he as d with any dollar of the same size.
I can say with first hand knowledge that those Dolmar chainsaws are bomb proof ( at least the old one's) we had several sizes,my Dad used his (no anti vib in those days) for felling the largest hardwoods we encountered. He retired to France and the Dolmar went too,as he got older he went for a lighter machine and finally to an electric saw.
When he asked me "do you want the Dolmar"I said no,as i have a good Stihl back home in UK.
The gypsies called one day and Dad sold some things to them including the big Dolmar....oh well.
He passed in March 2018 and gave his body to Angers Uni Hostpital.
Thanks for sharing your story Paul. Your dad sounds like he was a good man. I still have the 1st chainsaw my dad bought. It is a little top handle Poulan. Joe
What helps your channel, is the fact you are a down home guy. I've only been watching you for around two weeks.
Thanks Jake. Our whole channel started in earnest. It has been a lot of fun watching it grow. Thanks so much for watching and your kind comments. Joe
Nice. That wedge is what 10"?. That machine splits faster than you can keep it loaded.💪💪🤘. Nice Dr Pepper holder too😁
It is a nice machine for sure MH. Joe
The splitter could probably do with some kind if anti slip device on the bed, this would prevent the rounds being sprung towards your stomach. Just an observation having watched a couple of round slip towards you....Just a Health and Safety observation....
I'm curious how that would work. I have yet to do it when the logs weren't frozen. I want to see what it is like in dry conditions. Joe
From my experience, square pieces actually make it more difficult to make bundles. However, I do all my splitting/bundles by hand, so that might change the process. great video!
It seems when I'm making bundles that I can always find the perfect piece needed to make everything fit perfectly. Joe
I notice the table gets a little slippery when it's gets snow.on it makes sliding.logs to get your precision slips a little easier great video joe
It gets very slick! I think too slippery.
Hey Joe, always enjoy your great videos!! Just want to say that your dolmar 7900 is considered by many chainsaw gurus one of the all time best chainsaws ever made(older ones even better) and the dolmar brand itself very elite......dolmar/makita saws going away I think😔
Great saw indeed Tony!
Dolmar 7900 has a 1:1.36 Power/Weight ratio. The Stihl 500i (the world's first electronic fuel-injected saw) has a 1:1.24 Power/Weight ratio.
Square wood doesn’t roll around , stacks and stays stacked better!
Good point Rodney!
Joe you must be part polar bear because I know it’s cold out there and in this weather I am bundled up like the Michelin man.
There are several ways of doing things but as long as you are being safe- do it the way that makes sense to you. As you get older sometimes you need to switch things up so you can stay at it for the long haul.
Thanks for the nice comment John. It has been mostly in the low 20's lately but have had some single digit temps last week. Joe
