Love youuuu
When "V" becomes "F"
Hey guys! Love your channel! My name is Natasha and I’m an English native speaker, who recently started learning German. I find that the reason behind Germans directly translating “Wir sehen uns später” to “We see (us) later” is because of the “Reflexive Verb” rule. It’s really interesting! So, when I hear a German speaker making that mistake, I can hear where it’s stemming from 😊
Hallo, sehr sehr gut. Ich komme aus Perú, Deutschland ist wunderschöne😍😍😍😍
I hear that most Germans have a "American" accent and not a British accent. When they talk in English ? As a American I never really notice ? I guess it is true because of American movies and tv shows ?
My boyfriend in our first date told me
"Would you like some frozen water?" - He meant ice cubes...
and another time I told him: "I like your eyes"
He replied "I like RICE too!!"
Lourdes Gómez that’s kinda cute haha
Lourdes Gómez jajajaja jajajaja that’s cute I like rice 🍚 too jijiji
Where is you boyfriend from?
@@Christiangjf Austrian and I am Mexican
They also say only ice (eis) for ice cream and then you don't know when they mean normal ice 🙃
Wer ist auch deutsch und kann hören ,dass Janik schon eine Deutschen Akzent hat ??
Ich haha😂😂
Ich^^
@Alexander Metzler Da kenne ich mehrere und ich selber habe auch keinen😋
MAGIC JUST HAPPENED
@Alexander Metzler Kannst das gerne jemandem sagen, der das von sich behauptet und nicht in einem englischsprachigen Land gelebt hat😉
Also, ja, ich werde mir definitiv einen darauf backen😙
Ich spreche einen bisschen deutsch lol
My friend couldn't remember the word gloves so she just said "i can't find my hand shoes" since that's what she'd say in German XD
there´s so many german words that are just a literal description of the thing itself.. and i know non germans love it. hand-shoe, dust-sucker, cooling-closet, freezing-closet, pocket-lamp.. the list is long
Yes ahahaha I think it's maybe because in German thera are a lot of compound words
didn‘t know what gloves are but now I know haha i‘m german
BRUH I DID THIS WHEN I WAS YOUNGER IN KINDERGARTEN! I didn’t even realize that this was so common!
yeah german is such a pragmatic language and i love it, you just compound the words you already know and bob's your uncle
I'm from Colombia, and my accent when I'm talking with my close friends It's pretty well, but when I'm in the classroom I feel like a Sofía Vergara :'3
Who is Sofía Vergara? I'm from England
Sofía Vergara has a very strong accent 😂
Yo tambien JAJAJAJA Es Como si magicamente cambiase. Los nervios me pueden
Yo tambieeen! Me cohíbo de hablar ingles en publico porque pienso "todos me mirarán como una tonta y menos linda Sofia Vergara" 🤣
Totally me😂
Als Kind habe ich mich immer gefragt warum singen die "Ei of the tiger"
😂
HAHAHAHAHA MAAAAN 😂😂
😂😂😂😂 I can't with this
🤣🤣🤣🤣

Dieses Milliarde-und-Billion-Ding ist sooo schrecklich! Warum einfach, wenn es auch kompliziert geht? 😑😂
Eileen es ist Mathe
Ist nicht mal eine deutsche Sache, es gibt halt die kurze und die lange Skala.
Very US-American I think. And not logic at all. Britsh say more "Thousand millions" for 10^9.
Million = 10^6
Billion = 10^12 = (10^6)^2 = Million^2 (Bi = 2)
Trillion = 10^18 = (10^6)^3 = Million^3 (Tri = 3)
and so on
Can you do an accent challenge? Loved hearing you both try different accents :)
Ohh yeah! Great idea 👍
Aviva Renée x2
Yeah!! It would be hillarious!!

Yas!
Another one: Germans say „with 16“ instead of “at the age of 16”
That's not correct?? 😳
i always thought that was correct omG
Yes it is
In spanish we use both and it's correct
Omg yes so true! Haha
Actually German/Austrian people pronounce happy birthday like this:
Heppy Börsday
nitschiii 😂😂
Öhm...
Sooooooooo trueeeeeee hahahahaha i just can’t stop laughing when they sing heppy bersday 😂😂😂😂
@@damiansantanavidal863 Czechs pronounce it like "Heppy b'r'zdey
I hate it to when German people do that...
and I'm from Germany...
I thought you would mention saying "Please" instead of "You're welcome"
lol in Russian the same
In Polish the same 😂
As a Canadian dating a German it confuses me like crazy, so I got into the habit of saying gern geshehen. It's longer but works for me lol.
Some Germans say "or" and not "isn't it" at the end of yes-no-question.
For example: Is it easy, isn't it?
Germans would say: Is it easy, or?
That is because of literal translation; in German you would use the word "oder" at the end of such questions, which also means "or". Those who do that wrong either never learned about that or are out of practice.
I am also Mexican and I was living in Austria learning German, after being there I am very confused about words in English and in German, haha I noticed that thing about “or”, and now once in awhile I also make that mistake, the same thing happens to me regards the verb “made” or with the pronunciation of certain words.
Anyway I think it is very funny and now, every time, I am trying to catch those mistakes before making them xD
@Alexander Metzler haha du bist ja super cool 🙄
I never ever did that mistake lol
Wir haben in der 6ten Klasse gelernt, dass man das so macht und nicht "or" hinten dran hängt..gibt es wirklich Schulen, die das nicht lehren? xD
His accent is a Zwischending.
"Zwischending"... 🤣 In English please?!
(I don't know the english word for that word either)
@@warriorvillaincookie7197 The word-for-word translation would be "middle-thing" its an mixed accent out of two accents (;
@@warriorvillaincookie7197 I would have translated it with "in between"
Ohhh, this is interesting, so German people call cell phones "Handy", and in Korean it's something really alike, "핸드폰"( Hand Phone) 😂
I speak some korean and in English class i said handphone instead of cell phone my teavher was so confused
CookieCouple : I am german, some months ago i wanted to speak about a tool and did not know the english word. So i wrote ,logmovehook'. An english native speaker meant , that sounds funny, but he knew, which tool i meant.
Haha stimmt wir sagen das so ‚콩글리쉬’(Konglish). Das bedeutet ‚Korean + English‘
Cute couple on the internet: *joke in german*

Man hört seinen deutschen Akzent so krass raus haha

Sänk you
Sein englisch ist sehr gut
Das ist normal.
ganz ehrlich ich finde es geht voll. Klar, ich höre, dass er Deutsch ist aber ich will ihn nicht den Kopf einschlagen wenn ich ihn Englsich reden höre xD
I HATE MY ACCENT i believe your theory is true
Coni same
Me too
🙋🏼♀️ Me too. That theory is totally true haha
Me too!!
Love the video! A couple points as a writer and native English speaker:
Joss, cuando dijiste "that problem" y Janik te corrigió diciendo "this problem", tú tenías la razón. "That problem" sería lo más correcto en ese caso.
On the discussion of million, billion, trillion: Janik pointed out that a billion in English isn't the same as a billion in German. It's important to note that the same thing occurs in Spanish. In English, German, Spanish, and others, a million (un millón) describes the number 1,000,000. That is, a one with six zeroes following it. Put another way, it is one thousand times one thousand. In English, a billion describes the number 1,000,000,000. That is, a one with nine zeroes following it. Or one million times one thousand. This is distinct from German and Spanish, which use the terms "milliarde" and "mil millones" respectively to describe that number. Then, in English we use trillion to describe what would be "billón" in Spanish.
This difference exists because of long vs short scales in the naming system of numbers. In English, we use short scale, which is based on multiples of a thousand. So each term greater than a million is a thousand times the previous term. A million times a thousand is a billion, a billion times a thousand is a trillion, a trillion times a thousand is a quadrillion, etc. In long scale, each "-illion" named term is a million times larger than the previous. A million times a million is a billion, a million times a billion is a trillion, a million times a trillion is a quadrillion, etc. Different names are used for the number in between.
Before, in the USA we used short scale while the UK used long scale, but now we both use short scale, and in general short scale is now the accepted method in English speaking countries, as well as Arabic-speaking countries and Brazil (Portugal uses long scale, so this can be a source of confusion for Portuguese speakers traveling between Brazil and Portugal). In the majority of continental Europe, German-speaking, Spanish-speaking, and French-speaking countries, long scale is most commonly accepted. Puerto Rico is an example of a Spanish-speaking area that uses the short scale, because of the influence that the USA has there.
As an additional note, in much of South and East Asia, they use a numbering system that is distinct from both short and long scale.
Muchas gracias por el vídeo tan lindo, lo disfruté muchísimo cómo siempre! 👍
And in Spanish we also have the word "millardo" (accepted few years ago) but at least in Latin America we always use "mil millones".
@ Ah gracias, no lo sabía! Aunque estoy aprendiendo español, todavía me falta mucho y nunca he escuchado "millardo", solo "mil millones". Aprendí algo nuevo hoy, gracias a ti.
@@markdg33 Tienes razón, como Colombiano nunca escuché Millardo, siempre mil millones, supongo que es de esas cosas recientemente aceptadas, as an example we always thought the psychologist in Spanish it's just written like "psicologo/a" but now it can be written without the "p".
Lmaooo "Can I buy a handy" 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 I'm dead that sounds so dirty (handy is a word in English though)
hahahahah word "handy" is not dirty, your thoughts are dirty hahahahaha
she loves the accent but germans hate german accent xD
Ich hab gar nicht verstanden was deutsch und was englisch war weil man dass so selbstverständlich übersetzt ohne zu wissen und hab ich den Anfang noch mal angeguckt und darauf geachtet was was war 😂😂😂
Das hat den Hintergrund weil du Wörter wie folgt verbindest.
House/Haus = Ein Gebäude.
Sprachanfängern lernen es so
Haus = House.
Das heißt, Wörter sind Synonyme für Dinge. Keine Ahnung wie ich das besser erklären soll, hoffentlich weißt du wie ichs mein 😅
Ja haben in der Schule nen Film geguckt. Ich hab die Untertitel gelesen (der Film war, Deutsch) bis ich realisiert habe das ich ja Deutschsprachig aufgewachsen bin...
Omg 😂😂 I'm a native Czech speaker and my husband is a native Arabic speaker, we're used to talk English at home even though we speak German very well.
We have those dumb mistakes like "Make yourself ready" instead of "Get ready" too omg 😂
My English got pretty bad because of him. We also use "Let's cut the street" instead of "Let's cross the street" we don't even know why 😂
Luxury Adr this is very common among L2 speakers. I am a native English speaker but my wife spoke L2 English (she was from Greece). She studied English as a second language after moving here as an adult to improve her accent and as a result had many friends who also spoke L2 English and for whom English was their only language in common with my wife. I would hear my wife on the phone with one of them and always knew whom she was speaking with because she made different mistakes with each - mistakes by the way that she never made when speaking to me. It was as if each pair had their own “mutualect” that became the agreed upon way for them to communicate. Even though their speech was rife with errors it worked quite well for them and she remained friends with them throughout her life.
In hindsight we do have the phrase, "cut across (the street)"
"I need to dustsuck the apartment" hahahaha wut? 😂
I love you guys, you always make me laugh sooo much 😂😂😂
“I need to dust suck the apartment” JAJAJAJAJA
I lost it 😆
Oh, btw, my friend and I always make fun of our mexican accents when we talk to foreigners, and we loooove it!
"Beamer" does exist. It's a slang word for a BMW car.
In Russia BMW is called boomer)

Loved the video and I am so glad your channel has grown so much! I have followed you guys since around 50K subs.
I am a recent follower, from Mexico City, and I totally adore you both. I literally don’t like it when your videos come to an end 😘
Hi! As an American who's lived in South America and Europe, I *really* enjoyed this video -- it brought back some fun memories! (Yes, miscommunication *can* be fun. So there.) Some of the problems you mention seem to be pretty much universal, since English has such a mish-mash of odd rules & a logic all its own. (Now that I've said that, I realize that one can say that about most languages. Oh, well...) There were a few individual points in your video that made me go, "Hey!" so here they are....
1) Where I come from, when someone says "beamer" -- usually spelled "Beemer" -- and it's a slang name for a BMW sports car.
2) Handy actually *is* a real word -- it's an adjective describing something or someone useful/helpful (which is why you can look in the phone directory for a "handyman" to do odd jobs for you).
3) I've heard a lot of non-native English speakers say "informations" (not just Europeans) and I can't quite figure out why!
4) You had a lot of fun with each other over pronunciation, but a little before that I noticed you were both saying, "Chef" with a "CH" sound... while most English speakers (at least in the US) will actually pronounce it more like the French "sheff." :-)
5) I long ago gave up on trying to accurately express large numbers verbally to anyone outside the Americas; the numbering system seems to have taken a hard left turn somewhere in the mid-Atlantic. It's easier to just say how many digits there are to the left of the decimal point... and then hope that no one gets into an argument over who uses commas and periods the "right" way or "wrong" way in large numbers...
6) You should both feel very proud over how multilingual you are, and how *good* you both are with multiple languages. :-)
PS - I followed a "teach yourself" course in German when I lived in Belgium in the 1980s, and in the 1990s attended a series of actual classes in German... and I think I have maybe a 15 word vocabulary (most of it badly pronounced). Please take anything I said above that sounded like criticism with a very large grain of salt!
I’m a native Japanese and Spanish speaker, and I honestly don’t like people’s accent when they try to speak in Japanese, but I do find accents in Spanish cute.
Btw, love you guys💕
Haha, I just have a question, why most Japanese people when try to speak in English say "birzday" instead of "birthday" or "earz" instead of "earth", no to offense but the standard Japanese accent in English is so annoying for me.
Juan Manuel Mora they can’t hear the th sound. That’s how their brains are wired.
Juan Manuel Mora There is no th sound in Japanese, that’s why. For some Japanese people it is really hard.
People say that I have a korean accent when I speak japanese and an italian accent when I speak spanish, but Im actually from germany xD
Impresionante que hablen ingles, aleman y español .

I'm learning English, my dad is Korean and my mom is Mexican, I speak 2 lenguajes, (Korean and Spanish) but now is a mix of accents in my head 🤯.
As a native speaker i can always hear a foreigner's accent no matter how subtle, but i like it because it gives them character yaknow! i find the english accent boring tbh but that's just because i hear it everyday. most places get so hyped about the 'british accent' but most of us are like meh
Felicidades por los 300k. 🎉🎉
Me encantan sus videos, estoy aprendiendo aleman y ustedes han sido de mucha ayuda.

Por fin nuevo video, lo estuve esperando con ansias!
You guys are so cute together and it is apparent that you're very much in love. Loved the video, I have learned a little bit of German myself in school and in university so a understood most of the mistaked, especially why were you making them so it was funny to me as well. You got yourself a new subscriber and props to you both for making an effort and trying to learn a new language. It's always a bit difficult at first, but you will get better with time 😋
Another one that confuses the hell out of me, is the difference between "eventuell" in German, which means that there is a possibility of sth. happening, and "eventually" in English which means sth. will definitely happen
YES!!!
Hey guys !
Estuve haciendo tesis y regreso a sus vídeos y esto es genial 😘🎈🎆🎊
Yo los extrañaba mucho!❤❤
Aiiii new video!! I'm excited! 😍💕

9:03 Okay, sorry I can’t stop laughing. Hapi Börchssdäy lmao
omg this is so funny, my husband totally makes a lot of those mistakes. he also says you are so egoistic (selfish) and makes up english words out of german ones. Its hilarious
I am so happy that I stumbled upon this video :) I am learning German, and I feel y'all take a really fun approach to learning foreign languages... and it's really effective, b/c y'all's English is really good. This video was very funny and very eye opening, because I find German difficult sometimes and I think it's nice for me to remind myself that even Germans struggle with English. So many Germans that I have met speak English perfectly and I get so self conscious about my German, even if they compliment me lol.
Love U so much guys from El Salvador! I love your videos, I'm always watching them because they help me a lot with my English. Definitely thanks!
You can hear the german accent mostly when they say “with”. In the beginning I really needed to concentrate myself to pronounce the “th” right.
"Concentrate myself" is also very German ;)
My bf always confuses the numbers. I tell him 34 and he writes 43 🤭🤭🤭. Sometimes is very confusing, especially when we're talking about prices.😂
Muchas Felicidades por 300 mil suscriptores 👍🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼, si lo principal es hablar un segundo o tercer idioma, no importa si cometemos errores!
A blessing to find your channel😃
I was in a German hospital for 4 days and when I woke up from the operation, the nurse said: you're currently in a waking room. In a few minutes, we are taking you to the station. I replied in German: Ich gehe nicht zum Bahnhof. That is, I'm not going to the train station. Station in their terminology meant a department where patients of a particular health issue are hospitalised. Other mistakes I can think of: the use of word "ne" for isn't it, e.g. but that was written by James, ne? Another mistake I often see is the use of preposition from instead of of. For example, the bus from university instead of the bus of university. In German that would be der bus von Universität. The last one I can now think of is the use of please (in German Bitte) for you're welcome. A friend of mine said please in the end of a conversation and we laughed so hard. I love their accent, it's really cute! And, as I've started speaking German more and more, it's so challenging to say the word cool in a German accent where I've been saying it all my life in a proper English one.
Me sorprendio la notificacion, jajaja, se me olvido que se subian en domingo😅😂, saludos muchachos!..😊👌
