      Hi I'm from Mexico and the answer to your question would be yes and no, it's an old tradition that some families still do but in the modern day most couples and their families don't do that anymore they decide to split the cost of the wedding or they choose to designate what we call padrinos, who usually end up being members of our families or closest friends and they take charge of things like the veil, the band, drinks, rings, etc. Sorry for my bad english i'm still learning;(

    I love you guys! My father was German (Bavaria), and my mother was Mexican (Monterrey). So I totally get it! My parents argued constantly, but of course my Mexican mother always won every one of them. My mother could not speak without moving her hands. My father used to tease her about it. One day while she was talking, my father held her hands down to keep them from moving. She literally was unable to speak properly. She got really frustrated and yelled at him until he let go. • @bernardosoriano
      @bernardosoriano 3 роки тому +7

      Lots of eye contact, laughs, lots of small gifts, hugs (around your waist) those are common ways Mexican guys flirt.

    • @ericktellez7632
      @ericktellez7632 3 роки тому +1

      Find the guy that is trying to be funny with you or tries to make you laugh with something he says or does, thats like the most typical way, to make the woman laugh. Also stuff like giving you gifts for no particular reason, like say you work together and he brings you some food he picked up, and plays it off like he just did it on whim. Or doesnt plays it out and straight it up tells you he bought it for you.

    • @xm377Moyocoyatzin
      @xm377Moyocoyatzin 2 роки тому +2

      We flirt by showing you a sort of loyalty and special attention through our gestures and of course by posturing like the proverbial peacock. It is not uncommon for menacing looking dudes to suddenly become bashful and fumbling in front of the girl they like or if they are bold they will try to grandstand to get your attention. Also, Mexican guys (in Mexico only - not counting Mexicans raised in the U.S.) will take a slow burning approach to flirting. They are not going to immediately try to have sex with you, we wanna take it slow, the slang for it is "sweaty hand" _De Maninta Sudada._ That means the holding hands phase which you will be doing to the point where your hands become sweaty from holding each other. There will be a ton of talking and light touching as a guy tries his luck with overlapping personal spaces. Mexican guys are very tactile, we love to feel, grab, touch, caress, while talking and getting to know a girl. The next thing a guy who is serious about you will try to do is make a good impression with your social circle, like your parents, family, and friends and that signals the formal introduction from which he is officially your boyfriend.
      My hypothesis as to why we are not as thirsty for sex as European and U.S. men is because since we are so tactile with women we are already receiving physical affection from a woman so we do not feel this insane neediness for sex. Holding a girl for an afternoon and talking to her can hold us over for a very long time. Even in this interview notice how physically affectionate she is to him, notice all the little random touching and feeling she does to him. I think the reason the men in much of the rest of the world are so needy for sex is because they are literally starved for physical affection. This is only my hypothesis and keep in mind not all Mexican guys are the same, some are just as sex crazed as any U.S. guy and will turn on the charms to try to get with a girl just for a hookup.

    This video is spot on. I am an American and my wife is Mexican.
    1. The being late has been the biggest culture clash between us. My wife is rarely on time for anything lol. I grew up with my family having a pretty strict schedule and usually even being a few minutes early. Not her haha... It's funny when we show up to parties with my family we are always late and when we show up at parties with her family we are always early (even though it's late in my mind). If a party starts at 5 that means people start showing up at 6 or 7 and people show up at random times, but the parties last sooo long.
    2a. Families are HUGE! My Suegra has about 10 siblings. Each of the Tios and Tias have several children too so there's so many Tios/Tias and primos. Compared to my family where my mother had 2 siblings and my father only had 1. The families are so huge but they are way closer than my small family.
    2b. When you show up to an event with family, you greet everyone in the room, and I mean EVERYONE! lol... the complete opposite for me. It's usually a "Hey how are you" and that's it. Nope not the same you greet everyone with usually a hand shake/hug and a kiss on the cheek.
    2c. When the Tios offer you a shot of tequila get ready because you're in for a long night because they're going to keep coming and coming. Don't worry midnight tacos are going to soak some of it up lol.
    3. The families are huge but man do they make you feel welcome. They will share everything with you and even go without things by offering it to you first.
    4. When it comes to food I hope you like tamales and carne asada because when it's the holidays you aren't eating turkey and ham, it's tamale after tamale. When you go to a cookout it's carne asada.
    5. When it's your birthday the cake is always a tres leche cake and expect to get your face pushed into it lol. I was so confused when I first heard Morida! Morida! Morida!
    6. You'll learn to love spicy food, even candy! lol
    7. For Christmas growing up we always were supposed to go to bed early and wake up super early and open gifts on Christmas morning. Well not anymore we celebrate late into the night and open gifts on Christmas Eve.

      @Zerodovah Sorry, that's how it is: the Catholic Church... and overprotective parents (all Latin American parents, really). It's very simple: you love your daughter, she is very young, she found this nice young man but .... how serious is he or his feelings towards her? Is he thinking seriously about it, with respect, or just trying to get laid, no hard feelings ?? Will he be respectful enough to start a family and try yo make her happy for the rest of her life, raising the children with love, or is he thinking she's OK for the remainder of the month? In that case, NO WAY, ONLY OVER MY DEAD BODY. And unfortunately in the media the USA and Europe are represented as nonconservative, loose societies with zero individual values and no respect or attachment to the family. So.... the attitude seems quite logical to me (I'm Peruvian, of course).

      Por lo que no tendrán ningún problema en que la novia del hijo se quede a dormir en él en el mismo cuarto.
      Mientras que en el caso de las hijas son más conservadoras ya que no permitirán que una hija lleve a un hombre para dormirse con él.
      No es por ofender pero en muchos de los casos son las mismas madres que fomentan el machismo en los hijos y los nietos.

    Thank you for this video. I am an American woman (English father, though) and I've been with my Mexican boyfriend for close to 8 months now. It's the most amazing relationship I've ever had, however it's been really hard for me when we argue / when he gets mad (as he shows a lot of emotion)... and I then I sometimes break down. 8 minutes into the video I felt almost as if I want to cry because I feel understood, way less alone, and that I am understanding him better. It's been a learning curve for me to detach from his big emotions and to not take it personally-- remember that it's the way he expresses. And, the plus side (ALL THE FREAKING LOVE) makes up for it in the end. :) We're a newer relationship, so we have much to work on (ourselves mainly ;) however your UA-cam channel is giving me so much inspiration and hope. RAYOS!! Pensé que en algo iba a ser diferente, pero todo lo que dijo Janik es cierto😂😂😂 jajaja
    Soy del centro de México y la única diferencia que encuentro con respecto a dormir con tu pareja es que los padres si los dejan quedar en la casa pero en habitaciones separadas. No muy distinto pero...🤷🏻‍♀️

      Staying celibate while dating is kinda normal in Mexico. Women who are too easy are not seen as a "good catch" by men who are serious.

    Yes! I totally agree! We Mexican girls do get a lot of our character from watching those dramatic telenovelas. I’m so glad I realized this when I had my kids and so I never introduced them to any novelas bc of that.

    Hahaha the driving part. I have a group of Finnish friends that come to Cancún, México every year. We generally hang out to various beaches and places during the month. There was a time when I convinced a Finnish 18 year old friend to drive in a rainforest to an archeological site with a heavy storm. "It's common sense." Yes.

      If you feel the same problems, is because Spanish invasion, they spread their culture in South Asia and also Latin America, that's why in Philippines names are very similar to latino names.

    First time watching you guys! Love it!
    Ok my husband and I dated since I was 15 and he was 17. We grew up in California and went to school together. We both come from a family of 6 and were born to very traditional, religious, and strict mexican parents. For the first 2 years of us dating, he could only visit outside our yard gate. Then the 3rd year only on the porch. 4th year ok in the house but always chaperoned. When i was allowed to go on dates i had to take 2 of my 3 sisters! And he had to pay for them too!!!
    After dating for 8 years, we were married and in escrow with our first home. Guess what!? We were finally married and didn't have a home! You would think we would temporarily move in to his parents place or mine NEL PASTEL,
    WE EACH MOVED BACK TO OUR PARENTS HOME!!! FOR ANOTHER MONTH UNTIL WE GOT KEYS TO OUR PLACE! OMG! I FULLY UNDERSTAND AND RESPECT OUR PARENTS FOR ALL OF THAT. My husband and I were very blessed with 3 daughters! We have now been married for 26 years!🙏 Guess what?!?! We brought a lot of those traditions with us. Modified a bit of course!
    We (in latin american cultures) find it disrespectful for couples out of wedlock , whether it would have been us or say our daughters, to have a guy sleep over NEVER EVER !! Or have our daughters sleep anywhere with a guy!! No way! 11 pm curfew...yes my 23 year old still cringes🤷‍♀️ thats ok!
    We have ALWAYS TOLD THEM there is a timeband place for EVERYTHING AND YOU MUST ENJOY EVERY MINUTE YOU ARE LIVING AS IT COMES. PATIENCE🌻
    I feel some traditions are still great to have. Cultural and religious. Hey, its the only thing we have that have passed down from our beautiful culture and ancestors ❤

    Creo que con el anillo no basta, más bien es con la boda y sí, en CDMX es diferente, ahí pasa solo en familias más tradicionales.

    Found memories when I had three year relationship with a lovely woman from Mexico. One big thing that came up was parties or any family get together. She said it was "rude" to tell folks when to arrive or when to leave. she was shocked that Americans did that . She said close friends or family should feel they can come and go as they please if you are close.
    I love the "warmth" of the Mexican people. 😃

    I was born in the United States as were most of my cousins and other relatives around my age. So the old strict traditions have pretty much subsided, but my family also come from a history of being Rancheros, they were far away from the city-life. My family own acres and acres of land in Manuel Doblado in Mexico, so even though most of my family is Mexican.. they regularly visit or otherwise mainly live and have settled in the US. So the entire family have pretty much incorporated some American customs and culture into the family. Just like Janik I also come from a huge Mexican family, my father was 1 of 13 xd. So you can guess just how many relatives I have, most of which I don't even know but I think most Mexicans can relate. :p I'm proud of my Mexican heritage and I am also proud to have been born in the US.
