    I’m so glad that Chris Chibnal decided to destroy Galifray off screen, right after we finished an almost 10 year long arc of bringing it back, instead of actually using it for new and interesting stories set on a world that hasn’t been explored in recent years. Very good. Big brain writer

    the way new who structured the reveal of Gallifrey was genius. It started with Eccleston being tearful and internalizing his anger and sadness whenever he thinks of Gallifrey, then Tennant speaking of how magnificent and awe-ful Gallifrey was. He reveals in his last days that Gallifrey became corrupt and tyrannical in the last days of the war. Then Matt Smith came. Matt Smith's was particularly interesting because he never truly brought up what Gallifrey was like, just how much he missed it. Hurt was the side of the Doctor that caused new who's sorrow and pain at the thought of Gallifrey. Finally, Capaldi. Capaldi got us the most information of the Time Lords in new who. Rather than a literal doctor, the man is treated as a war hero and a legend, status that he earned rightfully for his species.

      @@freezingclockhands and nothing has been explained on the Time Lord's along with the population of Gallifey. We see children but how are they created and born? The Doctor says he was a womb birth and in canon "looms" are used for birthing Gallifeyans. It's implied Time Lord's and Lady's reproduce with humans rather with there own race which is why they look human and why they can become fully human using the chameleon arch. Which tells you scientifically the chameleon arch contains the Doctor's human/Gallifeyan DNA. We know from the Meta Crisis Doctor DNA from both races are compatible. Same goes with River Song. Also from the x-rays of the seventh Doctor and the 3D x-ray of the Ninth Doctor they both have human skeletons. The Eighth Doctor had human eyes so he/she is part human. Makes sense for Time Lord's and Lady's to reproduce with humans especially human women because they cannot regenerate. Unless Time Lady's drink exlir to stop regeneration during pregnancy but that's never been seen in Doctor Who. The Gallifeyans must reproduce somehow and a explanation would be nice.

    "This is Gallifrey" by Murray Gold is one of the most incredible, tasteful pieces of music in Doctor Who. I love how it begins with such elegance and majesty but then it swells to the point of being quite aggressive and almost evil sounding, just like the Time Lords themselves. You can even slightly hear the Daleks' theme incorporated towards the end, signifying their downfall.

      @ReversedPolarity 4 роки тому +55

      Until this day, I'm still not sure why he chose Maxil's face. I wonder if Time Lords have some limited databank of custom changes or if he took that face as a useful disguise for future use or if that face meant something more to him (that would've been a great topic for a third Colin Baker season perhaps), but the choice for the Doctor always seemed to be more emotional than logical, as if the subconscious had more influence over the conscious (maybe the Doctor respects its personas). But it's not the first time a doppelganger has appeared, and even Romana chose her "second" appearance on-screen based on princess Astra.

    In the section on Hell Bent, after the soldier walks over towards the Doctor and drops the gun, the music is called "The Doctor's Theme" but it's whistled, or at least resembles whistling. I think that it's a direct reference to one of the old Clint Eastwood Spaghetti Westerns (A Fistful of Dollars maybe?) where whistling happened after a major event. My theory is that the Time Lords have human origin that founding fathers like Rassilon and Omega wanted to cover up to create a new, greater civilization. Whatever the Timeless Child or Children is enabled Rassilon to find the key to regeneration and "eternal life".
    Things that support the Time Lords having human origin:
    1. Their appearance is extremely human-like, pretty much identical.
    2. They speak English
    3. Rassilon said in the End of Time that the Time Lords could either die or "return" to the waking world and complete the ultimate sanction. He could've said "go" but said "return", which implies that Earth has a place somewhere in their history. Maybe only the founding fathers and corrupt High Council only know their true origin.
    I have always thought the Time Lords and humanity are connected somehow. It explains why the Doctor is attracted to humans and visits Earth more than Gallifrey.

    Doctor Who series 12 final episode 10 theory! Spoilers ahead!: The human refugees are the Gallifreyan ancestors. They travelled to Gallifrey to survive and down the line, evolved into what we know as Gallifreyans (two hearts, longer Lifespan, etc.)
    They found the timeless child and used her to gain the ability to Regenerate, leading to the first time lords. I think the Ruth doctor came before the first doctor. They forced the timeless child to regenerate into William Hartnell, gave him a new regeneration cycle and wiped his memory
    That’s why the Master was angry. Because he’s always hated humanity, and how he’s found out the time lords are basically evolved humans.
    You can clearly see the citadel of Gallifrey through the portal. As the old man said. It doesn’t normally look like that. The Master used the portal to travel back to reach the doc so he had some control over it I guess.
    That’s my theory

    • @GothAtheist
      @GothAtheist 4 роки тому +5

      Wrong, the parameters of Regeneration are very well know, it was created, by Omega and Rassilon, a virus, made in a lab. The Timeless Child refers to her being timeless, as in existing at all times simultaneously, not anything about regeneration

      I'd take it one step further and say the idea of Gallifrey wss established by Ko Sharma, and that he led people through it.
      That they studied the rift once they arrived in their new home. Learnt from it and found away to access Time itself, so that they may give themselves the power of regeneration. Over time perfecting it. The Gallifrey of Old.

    *Revived Era:* Destroys Gallifrey through the invention of a massive time war to propel the show into a brand new era and decade. Adds layers of depth to the lore and Doctor’s character.
    *50th Anniversary:* Save Gallifrey in such a way that involves all incarnations of the Doctor (up to Capaldi), does a great Job giving the Doctor more character development, and in no way trampled on the character depth we got from Gallifrey falling. Plus it was just as weighted (I mean we knew, but the Doctor(s) had NO idea that their new idea was in any way better. For all they knew they still could have destroyed Gallifrey or would otherwise never find it again. It was just a tiny bit more hopeful than 100% blowing it up).
    *The Time of the Doctor:* Established that Gallifrey is back (though lost) and allowed the Doctor more regenerations in the heart warming end to Matt Smith’s eleventh Doctor
    *Heaven Sent:* Completely established Gallifrey’s return and location. Allowing it’s usage in the show going forward. All in a great performance by Peter Capaldi and amazing episode (my personal favorite) that put the 12th through so much pain that it was beautiful to watch him overcome. Hell Bent left much to be desired with Gallifrey, but I was fine with that as long as it was back and we could see great future plots with it like in Classic Who.
    *Chibnall (Series 12):* And... its gone. Chibnall’s destroys Gallifrey again twice in series 12. The first time through the Master (makes no sense. He ran away from the time war. How did he achieve so easily what took the Daleks, a galaxy eater armageddon weapon with a conscience, and/or all 13 Doctor’s?) and then for bonus measures using a life annihilator the Cybermen just had for reasons (why didn’t they use that immediately again or have it in previous conflicts? Seems like an instant game winner). The first time being in an okay opener and the second time being in the worst series finale, I’ve seen in the show since the revived era. The entire act of which does LITERALLY NOTHING FOR THE CHARACTERS, LORE, OR SHOW IN GENERAL MOVING FORWARD.
