Putting it on paper, word doc, or whatever, gets it out of your head and lets you look at it like an object that you are trying to examine and study. Once you see it for what it is, you can let it go.
I was a real dick to someone I knew once. It was unintentional and impulsive behavior. Since then, I periodically felt deep regret and hated myself for fucking up a decent relationship. After 3 years or so, I contact her on facebook to make a short apology. She didn't even know what I was talking about, and said there was never any bad blood. Like, we're cool lol. I guess the moral of this story is, one shouldn't underestimate how potent that obsession can be, cuz it can make a mountain of a mole hill. That said I'm glad I apologized anyway cuz I was a real asshole in high school lol.

But ever the resourceful one, Dan Harmon had prepared for this possibility for several years by bringing his own DIY style table aka his gut. and I'm not exactly joking about that either. He's talked before about how on the Community set he'd lean back in his chair and rest the sandwich he was eating on the top of his gut.
I've never heard anyone articulate why I procrastinate so well as Mr Harmon does here. It's absolutely a huge, guilty high when you manage to achieve despite not putting in what you know should be the proper amount of planning or effort. Despite knowing - without wanting to be conceited - that I could achieve great things if I plan & try properly, I always find myself almost proud when I batter something out at the last minute. And the high he describes at 4:20 is what I get out of it.
Something I noticed mid-video.. I want to comment that the interviewer has a speaking style that is what I imagine to be completely opposite from the kind of monotone style of voice that news anchors are taught to use. Also her appearance too!
She is an animator, not a professional interviewer. All of the talks at google I've seen are moderated by google employees that have regular jobs. I expect there is some PR reason for this. It's not like they couldn't afford to hire a professional. You can't judge the effectiveness of the tactic based only on your own reaction.
Dana Han-Klein is a really good interviewer. I would guess that is not her usual job and she did a better job than a lot of professionals. Hard to be funny and contribute without stepping on the guest or distracting from them. Kudos.

talking to people about stuff really helped me. at least i was lucky to find people of my age and sometimes older and more experienced to talk to me and respectfully hang and let me know a lot of what we go through, most of us go through.
the "video offshoot" of podcasts happened forever ago. never really took off. I think UA-cam has killed any chance of the video format being truly successful anywhere else for a good while.

While I love his work, Harmon has picked a career path that is absolutely devastating for him emotionally, physically, and psychologically. He is paid to essentially stew in his own self-loathing and narcissism. I hate to say it, but I think if he continues on this trajectory, he's going to wind up like John Belushi, or Sylvia Plath.
I hope people come to realize how revolutionary his writing is before it's too late. I mean, I can make an entire lecture out of "Remedial Chaos Theory" alone. His experimental structure, his understanding of of the concept of chaos theory, the fact that he actually uses the premise as a way to flesh out the characters and not just use it as a gimmick, and his use of Chekov's Gun with almost every single joke in the episode. That's always the episode I show people first when I'm trying to get them into Community. I still prefer "Simulation Paradigm" because of how emotionally satisfying it is but RCT is undoubtedly one the best written pieces of television even.
To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Rick and Morty. The humour is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the jokes will go over a typical viewers head. There's also Rick's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation- his personal philosophy draws heavily from Narodnaya Volya literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realise that they're not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Rick & Morty truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the humour in Rick's existential catchphrase "Wubba Lubba Dub Dub," which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev's Russian epic Fathers and Sons. I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Dan Harmon's genius wit unfolds itself on their television screens. What fools.. how I pity them. 😂 And yes, by the way, i DO have a Rick & Morty tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It's for the ladies' eyes only- and even then they have to demonstrate that they're within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand. Nothin personnel kid 😎

Or when those gangsters at Everest University conned me out of a few grand with their propaganda. Work is a life sentence that will only end in death. i agree with Dan Harmon about writing on myspace or xanga, even if its not to share with everyone in the world. journals/diaries are a great way to organize your own mind and that helped me grow a lot in my teenage years.
ive been watching several interviews of his lately and this seems to be the most comfortable hes been, usually hes very withdrawn, arms crossed chin down, clearly uncomfortably self aware.... of course hes usually next to another famous comdedian like roiland or bill burr
