Watched a review of the gunnar glasses by a popular youtuber, he was just loud and obnoxious and unhelpful. You definitely deserve more subscribers for your informative, calm presentation. Thank you for that.
SO glad I found your video today!! I spend A LOT of hours in front of my monitors. Having cataracts already, my eyes KILL me at the end of a 6 to 7 hour or more session of sitting in front of my monitors... Have a great day and thanks again!
Hope you're using cannabis which helps alot with cataracks.. you dont nees to smoke it to medicate u can ingest it or use a REAL vaporizer which actually vapes the cannabis and foesnt burn (combustion) which is very bad for u..
I agree with everything said here, and I have also noticed my eyes are not as dry because these glasses actually sit very close to the eyes and wrap around the face.. I can tell there is definitely more moisture maintained as the fan on my desk is not blowing into my eyes as much. They really are great! Worth the purchase.. my only complaint is that all their glasses are not that great looking... sort of look nerdy but If they could get the styling down better I would wear them out and about but unfortunately these stay on my desk at home.
I have been having prescription glasses issues for year now and feel that your videos will go along way in helping me resolve my issues. Your videos are so informative and helpful. Many thanks to you for taking the time to make them🙂
Bought a pair of their glasses, but so far i haven't been able to wear them for more than 5 or 10 minutes before my eyes start to hurt - I can feel the strain immediately, especially at the outermost/top edge of the eyeball. Don't know if it's because I have above average vision (according to an eye exam, at least), but I feel like my eyes have to compensate more with them on than without. They do mention on their website now that the regular lenses have magnification. However, most 3rd party retailers don't - and arent aware! - nor do they give you the option of choosing the non-magnifying lenses Gunnar has (called "Natural focus" as opposed to the standard lenses called "GUNNAR focus"). So, yeah, the magnification might be theoretically beneficial, but that's assuming you are sitting a certain distance from your monitor and tend not to move your eyes but your head to navigate the screen. But most experienced users i know move their eyes and not their head, to avoid neck strain, and they sit at a distance that's comfortable for their natural eyesight. So in my experience, they're good if you have horrible positioning and computer use manners, but they also will reinforce some of those (like the neck strain). If you're already comfortable but just want to avoid blue light, these aren't the brand for you - especially if you plan on buying from a 3rd party, and especially if you want any other model than the Vertex and Intercept models, which are the ONLY (adult) models you can choose "Natural focus" lenses for.
As an update; after scouring the shops that sold their glasses in my country (Denmark), I could conclude that indeed no reseller is aware that the standard lenses have magnification. So I bit the proverbial bullet and ordered a pair if Interceptors with "Natural focus" (0 magnification) directly from them - as mentioned, only Interceptor and Vertex frames has that option, and only for the 64 rated glass type. No strength is MUCH more comfortable for me, and are recommendable, but the hazzle involved in getting a pair, and the extra cost involved, still don't quite mount up to being worth it. So if you can get them without strength in your country, they might be worth it. Just be aware that any reseller is unlikely to be aware that "standard" from GUNNAR means +0.2 magnification. On an aside, I brought the previous pair to work, and not a single person among my 7 (programmer) colleagues finds them comfortable enough to do much else than try them on, and conclude that they strain their eyes almost immediately. And note that I brought them in the guise of "having an old pair lying around", planning to tell anyone who might end up using them why I didn't use them afterward, to avoid bias. And among them were both people much younger and older than me, and with and without poorer eyesight. The 0.2 magnification was either insufficient for those that needed it, or too much for those that didn't, so I can only conclude GUNNAR is severely shooting themselves in the foot with this. Maybe they were wearing GUNNAR Focus lenses when they were taking aim.. *ba-dum tish* Anyway, as mentioned, without focus, if looking only at the glasses, I can recommend the glasses themselves, but I can't bring myself to recommend them due to the process of getting ones without being so obscure and opaque for everyone involved.
Omg this was the comment I was searching. Please help me to if you see. So I got Gunnar Focus without knowing about magnification. I got it couple days ago. And as soon as I put them on, I had headache and dizziness little bit. And I could see that things look slightly bigger and closer than their reality. I definitely felt something is special in the lenses. But I didn’t like it. And I also didn’t like my eyes staring at me back. It was having reflection of my eyes and skin under eyes I could see and it was bothering me. I am thinking if I should return and get natural focus instead. I don’t have any vision problems thanks to God. I see well and my recent eye exam doctor told me to come back for dilated whole eye check up after 2 years. So I have no problem with my eyes, but I wonder if these magnification glasses will harm my eyes. Coz I felt the little headache and very light dizziness. I am thinking too much now on what to do.
Very helpful. That little perscription they got ruined it for me.I returned the same pair on the video back to the site I purchased them from.Makes my eyesight even worse than it is,and I got mad headaches. Thanks to your video,I found out what the problem is,very helpful!
It has to do with algorithm. A lot of very quality niche channels sit in the 50k-100k sub range. Try filtering results to that. It will 'fix' UA-cam for you.
I know this is an old post, but I was looking for reviews on the gunnar lenses, specifically the new amber-react lenses I just got from my 6 Seige pre-order. You had an EXCELLENT video on the gunnar lenses and provided a lot of great info. Thank you for that. I know to now wear them for viewing distance stuff now, just stick to the computer. I work in IT and am on the stupid thing far too much.
This has been a great video. My wife got me a pair for Christmas. Going to be pushing out your video to our clients if you don't mind because so many of us could use this from staring at multiple monitors all day every day. Great video and amazing break down!!! Keep it coming!!!
Thank you for this video. I was thinking of buying a pair of glasses from this brand because my work day is like 8-9+ hours looking and focusing on a computer screen. I am really happy that I found out your video with your perfect and unbiased explanation on what is happening when you put them on. Thanks a lot!
Gunnar is actually my middle name (and what I was called until I turned 25), so I came close to purchasing a pair when I first saw them, but now you have convinced me to actually place an order. Excellent review and video, but-as others have pointed out-your title is misleading,
I didn't intend for the title to be misleading or to be clickbait. So for that particular feedback from the video has been minimal. Most people find the title to be right on target with what I presented. It's not that Gunnar doesn't tell customers, they just don't make it perfectly clear how their lenses work and why some people are unable to use them. Also, that a cool middle name. My middle name is "Danger". As in Austin "Danger" Powers. j/k Thanks for watching the video Chris!
Thank you very much for this detailed explanation. I have been considering getting one of these recently and its good to get a review from an Optician.
Thank you that’s the kind of specification that I needed to really understand more about these I ordered some pretty much blind other than the fact that they block blue light this helped me understand more about them thank you!
Its written on the bottom of product box. "Gunnar digital eyewear improves visual performance for computer users. Excellent "out of box" solution for those with 20/20 vision or vision corrected to 20/20. AMBeR and CRySTALLINE lenses are tuned to +0.2 diopters and optimised for computer viewing distance."
Looks like our videos are working to make that info more transparent. The box didn’t say that before. I order 2 pairs and neither said that “clearly” Thanks for sharing Muris. Have an awesome day!
Thank you, I have just tried them and I was wondering about the reason for the magnification, but could not find more specific details on their website! Great review thanksss!
I've been wearing mine for roughly 3 years and when I don't have them on I notice instant eye strain. I have 20/200 vision so these for me are perfect as I'm also a graphic designer and I enjoy playing video games as well.
im looking for a pair of these lenses as i spend many hours in front of a monitor. other reviews mentioned that there is a slight magnification but your video literally shows exactly how much magnification there is (i dont wear glasses btw). excellent review!
I hardly give feedbacks but this review deserves a positive feedback. Thank you for this very informative review as I am currently looking at purchasing a pair of Gunnar glasses.
So I game a lot and get headaches from time to time and have noticed my eyes tend to really get worn out when playing all day but I don't use prescription glasses so would you recommend these or should I stay away?
Yes I would. Gunnar specializes in glasses for gamers. Now, they focus more on PC gamers or whoever has a monitor about arms length. If you play in a console and use a regular tv then maybe you could just benefit from taking more breaks. That’s helps a lot. You can buy them and return if they don’t work out. I think they will though.
What a great video, and thanks for the explanation. I was wondering why my gunnars seems "off", as the viewed seemed almost "blurry" when giving them a go. Cheers mate!
Thank you for this review. Can I ask if the glasses you used are with Natural Focus (0.0) or Gunnar Focus (0.2), based on the info on their website? Thanks once again.
Hey I had a couple of questions if you don't mind! I got the Gunnar glasses with a mild tint and found my eyes felt strained. I was attending an ophthalmologist for bad dryness and irritation. She said I should get something like this and that magnification is no harm. I since bought Horus x glasses which have no magnification but a stronger tint. These are much easier on my eyes. Should I persist with the Gunnars? I was going to return them. The Gunnars are far superior quality in terms of build. I have above 20-20 vision but not sure of the number
Thanks for your review! Many people think it's ridiculous to buy glasses for pc work/gaming and to be honest i thought the same until the point I recognized my eyes get very tired form looking at the monitor for hours. After like 5 hours at the pc i can't even read small text anymore. I started to inform myself and now I'm here. And I have to say that is by far the best review on youtube. I will definetly test them out. One question: You think the gunnar intercept fit on a wide head?
Thank you! What is your stance on wearing them when driving, shopping etc. (I don't wear prescription glasses)? Reflections and bright light really bother me, I might have Irlens but I am in a country where that would be difficult to diagnose. I ordered a pair of Gunnars to try out if it is gonna make a difference for me. I also spend a lot of time on a laptop.
I didn't feel comfortable wearing them walking around. After some time it made me a little dizzy. I prefer to wear computer glasses with magnification only while i'm in front of a computer. Non magnified computer glasses can be worn everywhere just fine. They actually make for good night driving glasses for people with glare sensitivity. I hope this helps. Thanks for reaching out. Have an awesome day!
I know this is an older video but they do mention this in their FAQ, at least now they do. From the FAQ: GUNNAR lens material has specifically tuned focusing power providing you with sharper, clearer vision. This patented lens technology aids natural focusing and reduces stress and strain on your eyes. Less eye strain reduces digital fatigue and issues associated with prolonged computer use. The GUNNAR non-Rx frames have a standard +0.2 diopter that allows the eyes not to strain and stress when looking at close computer distances for extended periods of time.
The tiny pupillary distance combined with the magnification makes me concerned that it would force one's eyes to go cross-eyed, leading to headaches or eye strain.
It's a common concern. Since your eyes are naturally converged when looking at things up close, the magnification and decentered PD will just help keep your eyes there but it shouldn't make it worse. Just don't walk around with them because that's where you may find that it makes you dizzy. Hope that helps.
I got it couple days and as soon as I opened it and put them on I felt something was different in vision, and I had slight headache as well right away. Things look bigger and closer. Now am thinking if I should keep them or return. I also don’t like the fact that I can see my eyes reflecting back to me and skin under my eyes.
Bought GUNNAR Vertex yesterday, with product number "VER-00114", i.e. with 35% tint and "Natural-Focus" (+0 diopt.) as was said on their website. But glasses still have some little magnification. I'm I doubt that magnification is necessary for me with normal vision ..
Very nice video! So do you think precription glasses are still the better choise? Or can non-precription glasses (no matter Gunnars or more cheap ones) can demage our eyesight?
If you need prescription then that's always going to be your best choice. If you don't need prescription then nonprescription options like those made by Gunnar and others are just fine. They will not cause damage. The only possible negative affect is if you can't tolerate the slight magnification. Hope that helps.
@@EyeInfluence Have you tested out any Gunnar prescription lenses? I'm wondering if they add to or change the prescriptions slightly as well, or if they just use what you give them.
Best, best way is soap and water. Dish soap on your finger tips and get that on both sides of the lenses. Rinse it off with running water and “bling bling” your lenses are clean.
@@EyeInfluence excellent answer. I have had the same pair of gunnars for 7 years and that's how I have always cleaned them. To get the lens dry, the water pretty much beads up and rolls off leaving behind minimal small droplets of water. To get that off, take a tissue paper and dab the droplets off, don't wipe, just dab. I have lost mine in the recliner, sat on them etc. and they have been fine. I own the MLB phantom model, which I highly recommend because the frames are metal and the arms fit by tension, so no screw to break. I absolutely love mine. I used to get red , burning eyes that felt similar to a flash burn that a welder gets when using a computer, but not with my trusty Gunners. I know just how flash burn eyes feel because i'm a welder. Worth every penny.
Great Review!!! I have prescription glasses with blue filter but also wear contacts at times and noticed my eyes had become dependent on the computer filters.... Would this be good for use with contacts?
I also wear contacts and though I wouldn't wear the Amber tint version of Gunnar lenses all day (by that I mean out and about on the streets) I've found that the Liquit and Crystalline versions are great for all day use. If you want a non-magnified computer glasses, try the Felix Gray option. The Jemison frames is one that i've tried personally. Hope this helps!
@@goldsteineric Personally I didn't like the way it influenced the color of just about everything around me. The amber lens made water in a pond look dirty and it's not dark enough to be a true sunglasses. This wouldn't be a problem wearing them at night though. In fact, they may help with night vision. so long as the magnification isn't bothering you. Hope this helps.
Most appreciated info. I'm looking to purchase a similar product to this I don't know how important it is for me I've got excellent vision but my work requires me to sit in front of 2 monitors for 12 hours 4 days a week. Any suggestions on which ones to get? And whether i really need a pair? I don't think I've experienced eye strain although my head does hurt a little sometimes but I thought it was cause of lack of sleep
Hi Mike, Sorry for the super late reply. I've really been encouraging something that I call "Light Management". By this I mean control your light exposure throughout the day and you may be able to stop digital eye strain and other computer related issues. Because you spend so much time in front of a computer screen I would really encourage you to implement breaks every 20-30 minutes. Just 20 seconds long, looking away from the screen, will really help reduce eye muscle fatigue. I know that it's tough to remember but I would start with this before wearing glasses to filter blue light. Glasses should be worn during the second half of your workday to help prevent sleep disruption. Computer glasses can help but it sounds like you have perfect vision. Start with taking regular breaks and I think you'll see a big improvement.
@@EyeInfluence thanks for your reply. Yeah i can definitely take breaks doubt I can every 20 minutes tho. I'll look at the fairly inexpensive ones since I don't really need a pair. Headaches are the only thing I actually get but rarely at thay. Again thanks much appreciated.
I just bought a pair of Gunnars the other day and have no idea about prescriptions but i think your video was very interesting and informative! I feel much better about my purchase and im excited to tell all my friends about the cool knowledge you gave all of us :) you sir have earned my sub!
Glasses can definitely help with dry eyes by reducing the amount of air that comes in contact with the surface of your eyes. I'm not sure if your doctor suggested artificial tears but that can help. Another not so well known thing is taking Omega-3 supplements. A recent study shows that Omega-3 fatty acids lower the evaporation rate of the film that coats the surface of the eyes. Combine that with just about computer glasses and I think you'll find some relief. Here's an article I wrote on this: www.eyeinfluence.org/single-post/foods-for-healthy-eyes Hope it helps. All the best.
Very well done video and descriptions. @Eye Influence I am thinking about buying one of these Gunnar's. My eye sight needs a magnification of about -2.75 and -3.25. These are actually messured for the distance. I read from some articles that it is better to use a magnification for a closer distance lower magnification, just to see the specific distance (in this case the monitor which is in most cases 60-65 cm far away from the eyes). So I would need a magnification of about maybe -1.75 and -2.25 (that's just a guess, i need to proof it at the eye doc). What do you think about this?
Very informative, and I like your presentation. I wear these, I love them. I do however wear them a lot. Do you think this will hurt my eyes over time? I can wear them for hours a day.
The tint is really the only thing preventing me from wearing them all day. I personally prefer less color (or non at all if possible) on my computer glasses. Other than that no worries. Hope that helps. Have an awesome day!
Hello. Thanks for the video. Do these glasses actually block and blue light like they say? All these tests that have blue squares etc. Still look blue. Anything blue still looks very blue.
They do filter blue light but all of these "computer glasses" target a different range of the blue light spectrum. For example, some glasses may say they block 100% of blue light, but if they target 380-440nm, the lenses will have very little color because they are filtering a part of the spectrum that is so close to non-visible light. On the other hand, a set of glasses that filters 90% of blue light up to 500nm will have quite a bit of color. The higher up you go into the visible light spectrum, the more color the lenses will have to have. I hope this helps a bit.
Hey Oliver! Thanks a ton for the detailed videos. I don't wear glasses yet (20/20 now, but I will need glasses soon, for sure, because I didn't know about computer glasses for decades), but these videos convinced me to pull the trigger on some Gunnar's, and I'm VERY surprised at how much they help. I do have a question for you though. My mother has a VERY weird prescription, like one eye has a custom lense which is close to 1/4" thick, and the other is relatively normal. My question is; do Gunnar, or Felix Gray make custom lenses like that? Or do they just do standard prescriptions? I'm convinced digital eye strain is the cause of her headaches, double vision, and blurry vision. Thanks a ton for your time, and the videos!
It sounds like she may have anisometropia (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anisometropia) which could be the reason for the thickness difference. Gunnar and Felix Gray offer prescription options but you'll want to check with them to see if they are comfortable with your moms prescription. I hope this info helps. Let me know if you have any other questions. Have a great day.
I got a copy of the one your holding right now, but I wouldn't say it helped my eye strain. I bought them because I've spent many months lately doing exams and gaming from noon till dawn. Maybe it prevents some damage on my eyes, but I personally feel like the pain comes considerably faster when having the glasses on. I regularly take breaks from the glasses because it feels better without. Not sure If I want to continue wearing them at all
Taking breaks is the best way to go. I would only wear lenses with power as a last resort. Check out my recent video where I explain why ua-cam.com/video/4vpJdR4yf9c/v-deo.html
Is wearing glasses with 0.25 magnification going to ruin my eyes in the long term ? Like I currently don't need a prescription for my eyes as I can see perfectly (I go do eye test each year and I try to prevent it as much as possible). Thanks for this video btw
Thanks a lot for the wonderful message. I am using a prescription glass for short sighted, should it be advisable to use gunnar's glass in my situation since i am having short sightedness?
@@atharvawadekar8973 which glasses? I have Gunnar phenom with the yellowish lens with the magnification and I have a pair of work play intercept without magnification coming in the mail today. The phenom made me feel nauseous, you get kinda dizzy if you look at anything more than 2ft away. I'll be trying the ones without magnification soon!
I concur, there is a small prescription to them. And yes I like them very much. Only downside, though minor, is that they tend to capture grease from fingers or hair (when you put them on your head) rather easily.
I am thinking of getting a pair of Gunnars work-play transition lenses, but after watching this video, am concerned about the 50mm PD. If the glasses cause the eyes to converge, would wearing them as everyday glasses away from the computer screen for a long time likely cause some eye strain?
For most it’s so minor that it’s not a problem. I noticed it and I wouldn’t wear them full time. If you want an alternative, look into Felix Gray. They give the option to not have the magnification. I have a video on their product. If you have any other questions just let me know. Thanks for the comment.
Thanks for the video. The only thing I would mention is that the reviews I read and the FAQ on the gunnar website all mention that the non rx lenses are 0.2 diopter. Its also apparently in the manual though I cant confirm that since I havent bought yet. Its not on the main page but it certainly isnt a secret, it is what drew me to them in the first place in fact.
I hope they are more transparent about it. I know they don't want to put it in bold print on the front page but I think you'll agree that most people don't find that Gunnar is making it obvious enough. Just scroll through the comments of this video. Many people don't know about it. I'm not against the magnification. It's not a negative. I made this video for consumer awareness and general computer eyewear information.
Thanks for this video. My last eye check told me I could do with +0.25 but they could only prescribe +0.5 as a minimum. I'll look into Gunnars due to this.
Im curious. What type of gunnar glasses did you order? Sorry if I missed it in the video. I know you talked about pupil distance and that the glasses have something to help you focus your eyes. On the gunnar website it says it needs pupil distance if you are ordering prescription glasses. Could you clarify if you ordered "prescription" glasses or if all of them have the special focal point? Thanks
The model is Intercept and they are great for big heads like me. :) They actually were the non prescription version with Amber lenses. They really are one of the few companies that make lenses like that. They are great. The slight magnification in the lens helps the relax the eye muscles.
@@EyeInfluence thanks for getting back to me. I watched a video on another channel probably 2 years ago and they said that it was a gimmick and I didn't bother looking into it more. But I saw your video and liked that as an optometrist you can give some validation to the claims they make on these glasses. And since your video I've done a bit more research and found a considerable amount of positive feedback. Thanks so much
so i got double vision because before this i dont know what is bluelight and its make my eyes dry. im use pc everydays playing video game like 3-5hours non stop.. now im so intrested with anti blue glasses.. is there any diffrence if i use glasses from optic shop that i can use custom frame and can check my eyes for custom lens? or gunnar brand is more better than them?
The best option is to use you custom prescription from your doctor. They should also be able to fill your prescription and supply you with the blue light filters you desire. Gunnar can also make glasses using your prescription but they can’t use your frame. Hope that helps. Have a great day!
You mention this 0.25 magnification being ideal for objects less than 24 inches away; would this minor magnification add strain to the eyes if you're a bit further away than that? For example, when I lean back in my computer chair my eyes end up being about 3 to 3.5 feet away from my monitor, should I use a pair that doesn't have that magnification (such as "gunnar natural-focus") instead for those situations where I am out of that 2 feet range for extended periods of time or would that be unnecessary?
Great video Eye Influence, Would you suggest Spektrum Prospek-99? I am a computer programmer and I spend more than 8hrs over the monitor. Is it better than the Gunnar? Does it come with +0.25 magnification too? Which one would you suggest. They say Spektrum filters out more blue light when compared to Gunnars. Thanks.
No, i wouldn’t get the 99% BPF. That’s way too much. If you get a standard blue light filter then you’ll be ok. I like the Gunnar or Felix Gray with slight magnification for computer programmers. Helps to reduce eye strain. Spektrum is good for reducing glare and limiting blue light but it sounds like you could benefit from some true computer glasses. I have another video on this called “computer vs blue light filter glasses.” Check it out. Thanks for the comment.
Eye Influence Thanks for the quick reply buddy. I have been watching your other videos too. I have a 15/20 vision and I don't want to be dependent on these glasses either. But I do want to keep my eyes the way they are and that's the only reason I was talking about 90% BLF with no magnification offered by Prospek as I don't work with color and frankly I never tried them, so you know better. Are there any computer glasses that really works for me as a daily driver in the office or at home? Or would you just suggest me to follow 20:20 rule for every one hour and no glasses. Kindly suggest. Your videos are indeed very informative. And I will watch the video suggested by you. Thank you once a again. Edit: Sorry, didn't watch your video that you suggested before writing this comment. Now I got the information that I needed, kindly ignore my above comment. All I want to know is, wont that 0.25 magnification degrade my vision in the future? And Gunnar Intercept has "amber" as well as "work-play" as an option while buying so what's the real difference. Sorry to bother you on this. That's the only doubt I got.
No worries with the slight magnification. I’d prioritize that over the blue light filter. That’s why I like Gunnar and Felix Gray.the power won’t hurt your eyes at all but you’ll come to enjoy/depend on it a bit much like people get used to coffee in the AM to wake them up. The 20:20 rule is great and will reduce fatigue. Combine that with a set of computer glasses like the Gunnar Intercept with Crystalline or Liquit lenses and you’ll be a happy camper. The amber tint is best for tracking moving objects. Since it’s not for gaming you don’t need the strong amber tint. Let me know if you have any other questions. I’m here to help any way I can.
Wait so if there is magnefication won't that affect my eyes and make me need actual glasses over time. Also, after this video would u still recommend buying these glasses if you use alot of electronics, and if so, which ones
I actually made a video covering that exact question. But to answer your question, no, your eyes won't get worse but you may become dependant on wearing computer glasses because your eyes will notice the difference. Think of it like coffee. People have become dependant on the cafeen and they can't go through the day without it. Computer glasses are much the same. They help but they don't really make things worse. Our vision is good or bad because it's genetic, not because we spend hours on the computer. To go really deep and evolutionary, if we continue down this path for generations, then our eyes will evolve to become more nearsighted and thus future generations may become increasingly dependant on glasses even if their great grand parents didn't. Hope this helps. Sorry for the long response.
This a relly great and unbiassed review. So what about people who made FEMTO Lasik surgery.would this be good? And should i use the one with magnification or not.
Thanks for this calm informative review. Does curvature in frame between left and right lens cause issues when wearing prescription specs for nearsightedness?
Thanks for the nice video. I have a question, I had near perfect eye sight 2 yrs ago when I checked, I have used Gunnar glasses for 4 years now. I started getting migraine aura about 7 months ago, I noticed I had to shrink my eyes to view far distance. Could the +.25 magnification have caused my eyes to go bad? I will appreciate your response.
The power itself wouldn’t do that. It’s possible that you’ve been over working your eyes and so now your having trouble focusing in the distance because of that. Or, your vision is just changing with age. If you’re now around the age of 40, presbyopia May be starting and the .25 on the Gunnar’s May just not be enough to satisfy your eyes anymore. I hope this helps. :)
Love the video man! Since your in the optical profession, you’ll know more than I do for sure so I have e a question. If I spend 5 hours a day playing fast action video games, will these glasses be harmful in anyway at all because they’re magnified a little?
They won’t be harmful but not everyone can tolerate the magnification. If it doesn’t bother you then it’s only gonna help. You can always give it a try and return it if they don’t work out.
Thanks for the informative video...my optician suggested me a +.75 DS for OD and OS to ease me looking into digital devices but i get headaches.....i dont have any sight so planning to try the Gunnar..Any suggestions...Hard to find anyone here to Talk about Gunnar when asked same question...Help me out here
I would always go with whatever your eye doctor prescribes. If the glasses aren't working for you, get a second opinion from another eye doc. If your prescription is +.75 then a +.25 wouldn't really help you.
Heyy, what are your thoughts on Zeiss computer lenses, is it better to buy separate frames + zeiss or get something like felix gray, pixel or gunnar?. Btw I have 20/20 vision
I love Zeiss lenses. Their Zero Blue lenses are great for filtering blue light but they can also be worn all day. Truth is, since you don't need prescription lenses, glasses from Felix Gry, pixel and gunnar would be just fine for you. You'll end up paying hundreds of dollars more for Zeiss lenses and you may not notice the difference. Hope this helps. Have a great day.
Great question, I just recently made a video dedicated to answering this exact question. ua-cam.com/video/jrhZLmYFLrM/v-deo.html In summary, no, they will not hurt your vision but you may find yourself becoming dependent on them.
I know this video is a few years old, I have a question. I work nights in a prison and we don't have the best lighting. A lot of the lights don't necessarily flicker, but they have very light fast pulsing that mess with me. Do these or any that they make help with that?
Hey, nice video! Can I ask you - can my vision be hurt as the acuity (i hope that is the term) of my right eye is much lower than the left's? So at 24yr, can this be the reason for eye tiredness and fatigue when reading and looking at screen, or should it just be the blue screen and I should try one of Gunnar glasses? Thanks in advance!
@Eye Influece Could you answer me to this question please ? If i dont have any myopia because i did surgery and i can perfect now will these .25 affect my eyes in a bad way ? Thank you
Yeah, I wouldn’t go with anything darker than the Amber lens color for indoor use. Anything darker than that and you’ll potentially be straining your eyes by not getting enough light. Thanks for the comment. We’re here to help.
Gunnar actually does list this (as +0.2) and calls it "Gunnar Focus" - but they also have ones with no magnification. Not sure which type the glasses in this review were marketed as.
I spend more time on my computer, and my gaming monitor, than I should. For 3-4 days per week its usually 15+ hours (daily total, about 12 hours in 1 sitting on average), and for the other few days I usually spend about 9-10 hours on the computer, or my laptop. For years now I have headaches, eye strain, my eyes always feel sleepy, and its become harder to see things that are further away (Its been like this for a while, but I still cant read street signs from distances that others can, and things like that), so i was wondering if these had any long-term negative effect, or if they would help overall long term. Thanks! And your video quality is fantastic, you've got yourself a subscriber.
There are definite long term effects. Your muscles strain more when focusing at close to medium range. Those muscles get fatigued and with time they won’t recover as quickly. Maybe you’re already feeling that. Try to take breaks. Relax your eyes by closing them for a few minutes during those long stretches of gaming. That’s gonna be the best solution long term. The glasses will help but not fix the problem. Hope this helps. Thanks for the sub.
Thank you for useful information. I have a nearsightedness (-1.5, -2.5) and it is uncomfortable when I look far in Gunnars probably because of magnification. Does it hurt my eyes?
Hi, thanks for this detailed and interesting video. I have a question. I have bought myself similar glasses but a different brand. They are called NoScope. Could you please do a reveiw on them too? I spend a lot of time in front of monitors to, but i feel as if they are making my eyes more tired, however, im not sure since i cant find anyone stating something similar online.
I did some research and found that Noscope glasses are no longer manufactured by the company. It looks like December 31st of 2016 was their last day of operation. Have you had yours for that long?
That's what it looks like. I just read over the details on their website and it's essentially their standard Amber lens with added Transitions technology. Makes sense. All light sensitive (photochromic) lenses naturally filter out some blue light. I don't think this will be their most popular option but it's nice that they offer it.
does the magnification harm you in any way? for example if i don't want glasses in the future and i am using these a lot? will the magnification harm my sight meaning i will have to get glasses in the future? Great video, thanks.
Just bought the ultra blue pair from GameStop for about 39.99 they are an absolute beauty , I love em so far but can I where these all the time like driving and everything?
I just received my pair, I am still not sure if 0,25 magnification will not make my eyes used to it after looking through these glasses in front of computer every day, spoke with some opticians in my city, the aren't sure about it too, but my eyes feel relaxed after long time infron of coomputer, that's for sure
Watched a review of the gunnar glasses by a popular youtuber, he was just loud and obnoxious and unhelpful. You definitely deserve more subscribers for your informative, calm presentation. Thank you for that.
Thank you so much for that feedback. Our community isn't large but it's strong thanks to supporters like you. Have a great weekend!
@@EyeInfluence i HAVE TO SECOND BAHEMUT Very pleasant informative i may just get them because of this thank you
Sounds like The Techne 😆😭😆😭
SO glad I found your video today!! I spend A LOT of hours in front of my monitors. Having cataracts already, my eyes KILL me at the end of a 6 to 7 hour or more session of sitting in front of my monitors... Have a great day and thanks again!
Thanks for the feedback. Glad you liked the video.

If you want those glasses with high quality in the best price. Please contact or whataapp +919700164141
Glad you're a pro on glasses. This has been one of the most useful reviews for gunnar glasses so far.
Glad to help Paul.
Been wearing gunner for a week. My eyes don't feel as tired and worn out by the end of the day.
I can confirm this with mine as well.
I like listening to you talk. Calming effect. Nevertheless you have convinced me to, at least, try Gunnars myself
Up to 1:00 he tells how he want to talk about why it’s good, and next minute 2:00 he talk about what he do as job, 2:30 he starts talk about subject
I have been having prescription glasses issues for year now and feel that your videos will go along way in helping me resolve my issues. Your videos are so informative and helpful. Many thanks to you for taking the time to make them🙂
I'm just wearing regular sunglasses when I'm on my computer. (Matrix-style).
Me to LOL
I second that!
*ba-dum tish*
Anyway, as mentioned, without focus, if looking only at the glasses, I can recommend the glasses themselves, but I can't bring myself to recommend them due to the process of getting ones without being so obscure and opaque for everyone involved.
@@Santiak. exactly man. I ordered one myself this week because all of the good reviews and cant wear it longer than a minute.
Thanks to your video,I found out what the problem is,very helpful!
so professional, how do you not have more subs???
100% Agree. This deserves top comment!
kids like clickbait and loud fake douches
Wow wow wow! Thank you for that feedback. Glad to help.
As in Austin "Danger" Powers. j/k
Thanks for watching the video Chris!
Thank you very much for this detailed explanation. I have been considering getting one of these recently and its good to get a review from an Optician.
Glad to help.
Thank you that’s the kind of specification that I needed to really understand more about these I ordered some pretty much blind other than the fact that they block blue light this helped me understand more about them thank you!
Great video! I've been using these for almost 5 years and I absolutely love them.
Thanks for the feedback! They are great glasses.
Thank you so much for not being annoying and overly loud
Its written on the bottom of product box. "Gunnar digital eyewear improves visual performance for computer users. Excellent "out of box" solution for those with 20/20 vision or vision corrected to 20/20. AMBeR and CRySTALLINE lenses are tuned to +0.2 diopters and optimised for computer viewing distance."
Looks like our videos are working to make that info more transparent. The box didn’t say that before. I order 2 pairs and neither said that “clearly”
Thanks for sharing Muris.
U best read what I said about em first
Just got these for Christmas and this video confirmed what I was seeing. Thanks dude.
I noticed the zoom right away using my PC-- but yeah, wow, they are great!
Eye Influence Alright sweet, thank a ton.
good vid and transparent discourse! Learned a few things here. props for bringing in the measuring machine!
This is the most helpful product review I've ever seen.
Thank you Levi! Here to serve.
What a great video, and thanks for the explanation. I was wondering why my gunnars seems "off", as the viewed seemed almost "blurry" when giving them a go. Cheers mate!
Nive video mate , one question, can that amounth of magnification be harmful if i dont use prescription?
Thank you for this review. Can I ask if the glasses you used are with Natural Focus (0.0) or Gunnar Focus (0.2), based on the info on their website? Thanks once again.
Do you recommend the reading glasses with 35% blue light protection
Hey, I'd like to ask you if these Menlo glasses are harmful for my sight, because of magnification, if my sight is alright?
Hey I had a couple of questions if you don't mind! I got the Gunnar glasses with a mild tint and found my eyes felt strained. I was attending an ophthalmologist for bad dryness and irritation. She said I should get something like this and that magnification is no harm. I since bought Horus x glasses which have no magnification but a stronger tint. These are much easier on my eyes. Should I persist with the Gunnars? I was going to return them. The Gunnars are far superior quality in terms of build. I have above 20-20 vision but not sure of the number
What did you wind up doing here? I'm in the same situation.
I have a big head and it fit me just fine. :)
I have 20/20 vision. Eye strain and headaches are exactly what happened to me after wearing them for just 5 minutes.
@@americanempireprojec you might just have to get used to them...after that, depending on what you're using them for you might feel better.
@Eye Influence Can I watch TV with it which is 98 inches away without getting headache or something? I have no prescription.
@@HarrySmith3 Gunnar cannot alter a prescription that was written by your doctor. They may decenter the optical center but that's about it.
Great Vid. Thanks a lot! Does this effect apply on all al gunnar glasses?
I have gunnar glasses but I'm not sure what is the best way to clean them without damaging it. Can you give me some advice?
@@EyeInfluence great video! any reason why you wouldn't wear the Amber lenses all day, out in the streets? thanks for sharing your info
@@EyeInfluence thank you for sharing your take on it.. appreciate it
What tint do you recommend for night driving. I am ordering the zeiss drivesafe
Glad to help. Thank you from spreading the word. :)
Great video! I was diagnosed with dry eyes recently and I game a lot. Would these glasses ease dry eyes or is it mostly for eye strain?
Glasses can definitely help with dry eyes by reducing the amount of air that comes in contact with the surface of your eyes.
I'm not sure if your doctor suggested artificial tears but that can help. Another not so well known thing is taking Omega-3 supplements. A recent study shows that Omega-3 fatty acids lower the evaporation rate of the film that coats the surface of the eyes. Combine that with just about computer glasses and I think you'll find some relief.
Here's an article I wrote on this: www.eyeinfluence.org/single-post/foods-for-healthy-eyes
Hope it helps. All the best.
Yes, cod liver oil rositas is the best and the one i use for omega.
You can order prescription lenses through Gunnar directly from the product page screen.
Great review.. Question, If i'm mono-ocular, (right eye blind) will the prism or optical center make a difference? Thanks Robb
The decentered optical center should still help when you're looking at things up close.
VERY good review, professional and interesting.
Since it magnifies the text you're reading it makes it less of a strain, so it should help reduce eye strain and fatigue.
@@MillerJustinFS thank you Justin 🙏
Thanks a lot for the wonderful message. I am using a prescription glass for short sighted, should it be advisable to use gunnar's glass in my situation since i am having short sightedness?
Ebuka Ndefoh Gunnar glasses are good for everyone. The power in the lenses is just enough to help and not influence your vision correction needs.
Thank you! I wish I had seen this video before buying the gunnar, having no clue that it had magnification & made me feel sick :/ great review though!
hey do you had spectacles and how do you feel now
@@atharvawadekar8973 which glasses? I have Gunnar phenom with the yellowish lens with the magnification and I have a pair of work play intercept without magnification coming in the mail today. The phenom made me feel nauseous, you get kinda dizzy if you look at anything more than 2ft away. I'll be trying the ones without magnification soon!
I concur, there is a small prescription to them. And yes I like them very much. Only downside, though minor, is that they tend to capture grease from fingers or hair (when you put them on your head) rather easily.
Hi amazing channel.the sunglasses of that gunner torpedo set also has magnification? Do you recommend to use it outside daily?
I wouldn't use any Gunnar glasses with the slight magnification for anything other than in front of a computer screen.
thanks but the Gunnar sunglasses also have magnification?
They actually were the non prescription version with Amber lenses.
Good question, did you ever figure it out? I am getting a large 55" computer monitor that I will keep 30 inches away so wondering the same thing.
Eye Influence Thanks a ton for knowledge sharing. You are a saviour. That will be all. Will get Gunnars.
Does curvature in frame between left and right lens cause issues when wearing prescription specs for nearsightedness?
how it works uv ligth protection? the glasses work outside?
Thanks for the video. Can I wear gunnar above my prescription glasses ?
They aren’t designed for that type of fit. You can wear them if you wear contacts though.
Wow thanks for the reply man even after all the time that’s gone by since you made the video.
Here to serve. Thanks for watching. :)
Are they able to accomodate for prescriptions? I would rather not have to wear contacts and glasses both. I honestly prefer glasses anyways.
Yes they can. Pretty much all Gunnar glasses will cost you $189 for standard prescription lenses. That includes frames.
@@EyeInfluence Thank you for the response, I will definitely look into them!
Good day, sir what eye glass you are using on this video, tell us the brand, thanks!
The Gunnar Intercept. amzn.to/2YMv3C8
The prescription glasses I'm wearing are by Prodesign Denmark, model 1416 c.9326.
This was incredibly informative, I learned a lot. Thank you so much for sharing such a well-made video.
Have a great day.
so for a regular guy that doesnt need glasses, wearing them with .25 would it affect on the long haul?
Great question, I just recently made a video dedicated to answering this exact question. ua-cam.com/video/jrhZLmYFLrM/v-deo.html
In summary, no, they will not hurt your vision but you may find yourself becoming dependent on them.
I know this video is a few years old, I have a question. I work nights in a prison and we don't have the best lighting. A lot of the lights don't necessarily flicker, but they have very light fast pulsing that mess with me. Do these or any that they make help with that?
I watched your entire video and didn't hear if the clear Gunnar's helped as well? Thanks!
All Gunnar lenses, at least with the 2-3 that I've tried personally, have the +.25 power.
Thanks hearing some professional thoughts about it put me at ease.
Thank you
Question: the dark Brown variety, which seem like real sunglasses, are still sold as gaming glasses..aren’t they too dark? Are they any good indoors?
Yeah, I wouldn’t go with anything darker than the Amber lens color for indoor use. Anything darker than that and you’ll potentially be straining your eyes by not getting enough light.
Thanks for the comment. We’re here to help.
Well presented with excellent content. Thanks!
Gunnar actually does list this (as +0.2) and calls it "Gunnar Focus" - but they also have ones with no magnification. Not sure which type the glasses in this review were marketed as.
Any Gunnar glasses up for recommendations to suit an online student that games in their free time?
Thank you this makes me more happy about my purchase
Will do! I personally haven’t heard of them but I’ll look into acquiring one. Thanks for the suggestion!
Thanks for you super fast reply. Ill be eagerly waiting and + sub :)
I did some research and found that Noscope glasses are no longer manufactured by the company. It looks like December 31st of 2016 was their last day of operation.
Have you had yours for that long?
Hello, i have a question. What is the difference between an intecept and an intercept 24k?
The only difference is the gold trim and special color option. The lenses are exactly the same.
What about the new Gunnar Work-Play Lens? Do these lens actually work the same way as Amber Lens when you are in the office?
That's what it looks like. I just read over the details on their website and it's essentially their standard Amber lens with added Transitions technology.
Makes sense. All light sensitive (photochromic) lenses naturally filter out some blue light. I don't think this will be their most popular option but it's nice that they offer it.
@@EyeInfluence Thanks for your reply!
does the magnification harm you in any way? for example if i don't want glasses in the future and i am using these a lot? will the magnification harm my sight meaning i will have to get glasses in the future? Great video, thanks.
Just bought the ultra blue pair from GameStop for about 39.99 they are an absolute beauty , I love em so far but can I where these all the time like driving and everything?
I just received my pair, I am still not sure if 0,25 magnification will not make my eyes used to it after looking through these glasses in front of computer every day, spoke with some opticians in my city, the aren't sure about it too, but my eyes feel relaxed after long time infron of coomputer, that's for sure
