I remember in an episode of Oney’s L4D2 playthrough, they mentioned people like Linkara and Nostalgia Critic can take a bit of jabbing and teasing because it’s what they do for a living. I've heard the criticism from people who truly do not like Linkara or Channel Awesome and it is a thousand times more vicious and negative than Oney. The videos and people I'm talking about were just plain mean and did not care to make anyone laugh. Oney would not be able to make such good jokes without knowing the source material inside and out. I remember in an episode of Oney’s L4D2 playthrough, they mentioned people like Linkara and Nostalgia Critic can take a bit of jabbing and teasing because it’s what they do for a living. After hearing what a thin skinned pencil neck Linkara is over Oney joking about him, I get the feeling they may have greatly overestimated him.
This makes me very sad. Oney makes fun of people that he likes. It's just how he works. Oney poking fun at me and my cringe Sonic video from years ago legitimately filled me with glee.

The worst line is when he states that a reason he hates oney is because oney makes fun of his webcomic, that he himself calls "crappy"
I figured it was more that he hates being reminded of it, and that constantly calling him The Lightbringer, and having that name be associated with him and his not so great webcomic, gave off the impression of them bullying him.
Like as if they were trying to insinuate that he basically has no right ripping into bad comics, when he's made one himself, or something like that.
That's kind of the impression I get from it.

I've watched and listened to so much oneyplays but to say linkara was ever mocked would be a stretch. The worst thing I've ever heard said was when they talked about nerdy UA-camrs having badass theme songs. Nostalgia Critic and Irate Gamer get a lot worse than Linkara

I think it's more that he wanted to distance himself from that comic, and them bringing it up and calling him the Lightbringer, kind of struck a nerve where it wasn't meant to be bullying, but ended up being interpreted as bullying.
If you can't laugh at yourself, you shouldn't laugh at others.
I've heard the criticism from people who truly do not like Linkara or Channel Awesome and it is a thousand times more vicious and negative than Oney.
The videos and people I'm talking about were just plain mean and did not care to make anyone laugh.
Oney would not be able to make such good jokes without knowing the source material inside and out.
