I think I speak for the majority of the Oneyplays community when I say that we don't dislike Linkara at all, to the contrary, we really like him, it's just that he perfectly personifies a nostalgic era of the Internet, and that being now a niche topic, is fun to make jokes about, for example, a Trump rally in wich he stars to talk about AT4W out of the blue, but it's never a personal attack against Lewis, it really comes from a place of admiration and I think 9 out of 10 Oney fans will tell you the same. Perhaps the way he reacted to the entire thing ruffled some feathers, but it's understandable, it's not easy to be the butt of the joke, even if it genuinely comes from a place of admiration. I guess we can only hope for Lewis and Chris to come into good terms, even if it takes a long time, provided they maintain a great work ethic, of course.
I agree. As a OneyPlays fan myself, Chris' jokes made me like Linkara even more! I think Linkara is very creative with his work and he puts a lot of thought into it, which I admire. The way Linkara build up a lore within a decade is very impressive! He's a genius in a way.

Linkara, for all his faults, I think is a genuinely pretty entertaining guy who managed to make a thoroughly endearing, if a little weird at times, story.
I haven't gotten too deep into the video yet, but I just wanted to make the observation that a lot of other videos I've seen covering Linkara or similar reviewer content creators has been uncomfortable to watch with how mean-spirited it can come across sometimes. It's all fine and dandy to make jokes or roast a creator's work, but some "video essayists" would go overboard making personal attacks. But, this video seems to be a breath of fresh air that just recaps the content without the distracting nonsense. I find that extremely refreshing and admirable. Thank you.

One of the factors behind the Contest of Champions story getting put on hold for so long may have been the Covid crisis. The in-universe reason being a transdimensional cosmic storm suddenly popping up causing the contest to be put on hold.
I have never read an American comic book in my life, but I still watched all of Linkara's AT4W videos as he released them. Actually, pretty much everything I know about comic books is from 90s cartoons, video games, and Linkara.
Can I just say, I'm sad you didn't mention Moarte grabbing Linkara by the throat and speaking through him to Lewis, telling him in no uncertain terms that he is not interested in being a part of the larger storylines, because that moment was funny, and also metal as hell.
Loved the video, it's always been the silly lore stuff that made Linkara my favorite among the former TGWTG crew, and its relieving to see that others also appreciate it.

I got into AT4W through the NC. I watched their crossover review of Superman IV and thought Lewis was pretty funny. I soon started watching his stuff more than Doug's and haven't looked back. I LOVE AT4W and I someday hope to meet Lewis himself.
Without knowing anything about linkara lore and just hearing gags I got weirdly invested into the lore When I watched the movie for a gag I ended up loving it for its characters and dialogue (although now with context it is silly... and the drunk scene sucks) The low budget just makes it feel more campy, honestly glad I found out about it

I am so glad my friend got me to watch Linkara's videos. I knew about him for years but never really watched him. He is insanely entertaining and covers a lot of comics I am interested in. I especially love all of his storylines and am always excited to see more of them.
Honestly while Linkara can be more then a tad thin skinned at times, I think he is a fair bit more self aware than a lot of his detractors give him credit for. And honestly out of the original TWTG big three (the other two being Spoony and Nostalgia Critic), I think he's the only one who actually improved his work over time.

Not sure that was the intended takeaway of the video. But 143k subscribers isn't at all a small number. For most people on You Tube, it's actually quite the lofty goal and one they will never achieve. But numbers aside, he has certainly grown as creator, he's improved as an actor, gotten more people to work with than just himself, improved his editing, become more nuanced in his reviews and as this video notes in his more recent arcs, even improved as a filmmaker.
ngl, the idea of mecha-kara reborn with a chance for a clean slate was a really cool idea with a lot of potential to revitalize the character, but it just kinda defaulted to the same "try to kill linkara" schtick, which was kind of a let down imho.
What possessed Lewis to think that, not only a comic review show needed an unironic serious storyline, but that his chubby, baby-faced self would make for both a believable action hero and a credible, threatening villain? Oh yeah, wish-fulfillment fantasy.

The movie has its faults but I still like it mostly cause I appreciate it as an earnest throwback to the channel awesome movies minus you in or treating his cast and crew with respect. That and there were really special moments to me particularly the heart to hearts pollo and marz girl especially.
Also, his performance as Mechakara is legitimately excellent and shows how much he's improved as an actor. Compare his wooden delivery in "Oh. But I. AM. Linkara. More. Or. Less." to the cruel, mocking "Is something wrong Linkara?", and it is night and day.
I remember rewatching his videos through his storyline compilations a year ago, and while yeah, it was cringey, I still think there was merit. Especially the Harvey Finevoice Christmas special. That shit slaps. Also, his last History of Power Rangers was really sweet.

But any way, THANK YOU for making sense out of all of those old comic-size arcs! Every now and then, I'll watch an old AT4W episode, find something at the end of the review that felt like a piece of a larger story, and being both amused and confused. Like I picked up an issue of a comic book in the middle of a gigantic ongoing story (like when I started reading Captain America well after The Winter Soldier was introduced). And I still watch Nostalgia Critic, share Lewis' opinion of Garth Ennis, and make no apologies for it.

i used to watch the lyncara supercuts, my favorites were the gun lady one and the Missing Number One, I think it generally lacking in like shot composition, I think Lewis should look into honeymation, because its pretty cheap I think and a little more dynamic action would really help because the writing has to do all the heavy lifting.

But any way, THANK YOU for making sense out of all of those old comic-size arcs! Every now and then, I'll watch an old AT4W episode, find something at the end of the review that felt like a piece of a larger story, and being both amused and confused. Like I picked up an issue of a comic book in the middle of a gigantic ongoing story (like when I started reading Captain America well after The Winter Soldier was introduced).
And I still watch Nostalgia Critic, share Lewis' opinion of Garth Ennis, and make no apologies for it.

i used to watch the lyncara supercuts, my favorites were the gun lady one and the Missing Number One, I think it generally lacking in like shot composition, I think Lewis should look into honeymation, because its pretty cheap I think and a little more dynamic action would really help because the writing has to do all the heavy lifting.

The blurred face is very likely a person who is no longer alive, but was revealed after their death to have done terrible things to minors and adults. So I guess they don't want to have that face appear in a retrospective.
