Rossini wrote the role of Angelina in "Cinderella"for contralto. Before, he made it in "The Barber of Seville" for Rosina. I was wondering why, most often the main young female figures in operas are sopranos. In all adaptations of "Barber" or „Cinderella“, which I found on youtube, Angelina’s or Rosina's part was performed by mezzo-soprano or soprano. Finally, after a long search, I found Rosina's and Angelina’s arias sung by Ewa Podleś. And then I understood why Rossini wrote this roles for contralto. If Geltrude Righetti - the first performer of this roles was as good as Ewa Podleś, it is not surprising that Rossini wrote the operas for her. It is a pity that it is such a rare voice that in modern adaptations it is replaced by mezzo-soprano or soprano. GREAT EWA PODLEŚ!!!

Really excellent job! Her voice is so well suited to this - bright, and focused enough to negotiate the runs....full and rich enough to bring out the Woman in the role 😎😎😎 Also, love her variations/embellishments!!! Some very fresh and interesting combinations of choices
La gloire de Pologne a tout jamais! Je l"ai connue et entendue au Concours Tchaikovsqui - 78. Ewa etait la MEILLEURE! La 3-e place est une note injuste! L"histoire a donne raison. Ewa s" est fait une carriere eblouissante! bravo mille fois!
Nothing Podleś does hits my “sweet spot.” In other words, her voice does nothing for me, even a little. *Please take note that I didn’t say she was bad....I just don’t care for her voice or technique.* This is why I stress all the time that a preference for one artist and not another is completely subjective, which is why people shouldn’t write in comments sections that their favorite artists are, “THE BEST,” instead of, “MY FAVORITE,” bc there will be many who disagree. And that’s our right!!!
