- Hey guys, I recently played a bo5 showmatch vs the rank 1 stormgate player Parting. Overall the series went pretty well and I got to try out some interesting ideas.

This is awesome content. Hearing a top level player talk through his thought process during a series is absolutely invaluable as a learning resource, but beyond that it was also just very exciting to see the game through your eyes. Hope you do more of this.

Another great video! I really like your variation of the 2 rax lancer. I have also been finding what you mentioned at the start of the jagged maw game...I feel like there is no great way to scout currently. Have you been finding that as well? I feel like i'm playing kind of blind, but just expecting that inf come with a doombringer drop.
The dog helps early, but the speed camp means you can't really keep tabs on the army, and a doombringer can come from a lot of angles. So yeah scouting is tough. It's probably one reason why 1 base Hornet does well.
Awesome games! Can you comment on hold position micro for lancers vs flame imps? I haven't heard people discuss that before and wondering what it entails
Well just in general if you use hold position units have a massive delay on their attack (bug getting fixed). I also feel like sometimes my units don't listen to me anyway :D
Overall that makes it hard to split lancers against flaming imps, especially because they'll clump back up with their insane movement speed.

Does Infernals expand in general through trees expansion and vanguard the other one?
I would say in general yes, but either is fine really. Infernal tend to need the therium patch on the third whereas vanguard needs a lot less therium with bio.

can you do a VG vs VG video/guide. i am so frustrated with it right now and i feel like all the content creators are only showing the VG vs INF matchup right now.

whats the last second bob overcharge bug exactly? cant seem to replicate it. I do know the building time gets "locked" in when started so it doesnt matter if you start it with 1 sec overcharge or 30 sec overcharge left. but I thought that was intended.
I don't know exactly how it works, because I don't want to abuse it, but if you start construction in the last few seconds the building will actually autocomplete like protoss. And building it will be extremely fast.
That is my understanding of it and I've seen it happen, but I might be wrong on the specifics.
interesting to see players start to really figure out different dynamics of this game. compared to sc2 these days, the variations (though they may impact things a lot at the top level) seem to amount to just a few seconds of difference as opposed to a full 30 seconds difference that will affect players of almost all levels.
Sc2 has obviously been around for a lot longer, so really big surprising discoveries are less likely. But even just for PvZ and 3rd timings over the years we've seen a lot of small innovations that speed that up.

Curious why the switch to videos on Stormgate? I've never played, but isn't it basically a dumbed down equivalent of Starcraft 2...?... basically checkers of RTS rather than chess? Is it because Starcraft 2 is so complicated to learn that it's a major barrier to entry for the average casual gamer?
Have you played Age of Empires 2 or 4? How would you rank the top 5 RTS games of all time?
It plays out a bit differently to sc2. I wouldn't call it dumbed down. It does help in certain areas but that just leaves more room to multitask. Overall though I'm just playing and enjoying it because it's new, and quite fun.
Yes I was high rated in aoe4, and almost hit 2k in the 3 months I played aoe2. They are fun, but aoe4 unit control was really annoying. Sc2 and Stormgate are miles ahead in that regard. Aoe2 was really fun, but it's just a different kind of RTS than I enjoy. A lot of hard counters.

If you've never tried it, I highly recommend Rise of Nations. I think it's the best of the "Age-style" RTSs -- starts with spears and arrows all the way up to tanks, jet fighters, and nukes, so it adds the 3rd dimension of air combat which AOE lacks. RON is highly rated, yet somewhat of a sleeper as it didn't get the attention it deserved. I hope they do a Definitive Edition someday.
So would you recommend skipping AOE4? Is AOE2 better than AOE4 overall? (AOE3 sucked in my opinion...lol... bought it when it came out and couldn't get into it.)
Man this game just looks so bad. Gameplay might be great I have no clue, but just the design and astethics just looks so horrible in my eyes. Shame, I really want a new rts :\
I had a similar experience before playing it, and I find it grows on people. You do have to get conformable with it.
Hopefully the aesthetics grow over time. I would describe it as having potential.
Lancers can literally run away faster than imps can chase them dude if they've gotten any speed boost at all. Playing infernals past diamond 1 is literally cancer compared to playing vanguard. Vanguards units are so incredibly better in general and if they're not sleeping at their computer they can micro away from any flaming imps or magmas even if they are dropped behind their army from a doombringer. Atleast that is my experience.
