Just 4 aliens playing. Unbelievable
I seriously enjoy the almost hip hop style of Tivon’s playing, it’s a fresh sound
Nice work
This group is just so much fun to watch!
God damn ari’s playing ALWAYS makes me want to practice! His brush technique is so different and effective too, I talked to him about it sometime many sessions ago here at chris’. Glad to see this from y’all. Thanks!
Wow that's an amazing concert, such a fabulous interplay!
This is from another planet. What an amazing band leader.
I caught the Friday night show . It was very inspiring to hear you all play ,
Thanks for coming to Toronto!
Drummer is having a great time, may his passion bring him happiness and fulfimment
My guitar instructor turned me onto Ari and his group as a study in rhythm / polyrhythms. Now I’m hooked and would love to make it to a live performance.
"Damn beatniks!"
Ete chabon siempre me alegra la esistencia de existir...prospera vida a la musica q play este.
Super musiciens qui mémorisent un thème super compliqué...👏👏👏
Love that ending
super
wonderful.
thank you so much for sharing this.
Killin it!
Really fun. Thanks for putting this out there.
Love it Ari
In Ari’s hands that ride cymbal sounds fantastic 😮 as does the rest of his set up 😊
Sublime Magnifique 😍
Holy moly
Yessssss
Killing as usual
Great. 👏👏👏👏👏👏
1:32 that Skippy quote 😱😱
what an arrangement, would love to know what of this was prearranged/written and what was fully improvised. legends\
Same here. They played this session with such confidence and charm.

Ari is one of the first drummer about 20 years ago proved to me you can use whatever stick grip works for you. Pretty sure bugs bunny was running from the Road runner on this song.
Éste tipo hace todas cosas difíciles en la batería. Sólo comparable a los más grandes de la historia (en mi opinión) Morgan Agren, Hubb Hansen y el capitán Kirk Kuvington.

Ari's playing always looks awkward to me, but WOW he's tremendously artistic, melodic, and innovative, and has the chops too...
He knows what sound he wants so he places his stick accordingly, this implies moving the whole arm in a perpendicular motion just to hit a cymbal lightly for example. Weird to look at but feels good doing/hearing it
Yes great! Wide open bd Ari?
So easy...😄😄

What is that mouthpiece in Tivon's sax? I don't remember anything like that when I was learning sax.
Syos probably

Sax player is illin it - he needs his own group.
he plays full time for a late night show
@@Savantjazzcollective Nice
I feel like he's right at home with these legends
@@zsebestien7050 Seems like has his own thing or story of his own to tell.
I used to play jam sessions with him and my bass player in NY around like 2010-12 and he was freaking stealing the show back then!!! But has improved in his tastefulness I think. Ari always gets new young cats on his gigs it’s pretty cool.
Why the drums's sound is that of empty barrels?
The louder the drums are on stage the more bleed gets into piano and bass mics. The results are washier, less distinct, roomier sounding drums usually.
@@ChrisJazzCafePhilly I know but I just had the impression that there wasn't paid much attention to the tuning.
In any case the bass drum sounded awful.
its ari hoenig bro. if you talking about tuning problem dont start with him, he is one of the drummer who tune his drum perfectly good.
@@bjornicjonisson3362 damn technology
Some jazz, like this, just seems to be confusing/complicated just for the sake of complicated/confusing. It’s just irritating to listen to. Maybe that’s the point. Ugh
why not play normally? this is why jazz is dead
what do you mean by "normally"?
lmao
Bruhh, thats some take.
You realize jazz was created to be an expression of freedom, as in Afro-American people advocating their want for freedom through music, and you're here saying that they should play "normally" ... like what does that even mean. Jazz is freedom. You wanna listen to old jazz and cats playing like we did 50 years ago or more, feel free to not listen to this. Miles was already tired of jam sessions at the end of his career cuz same songs since the 40's and same songs still today played the same way...! At least they're doing something different... and they're darn great at it!!!
Jazz is NOT dead and will NEVER die.... people are just dumber and progressively so
