Apparently recorded at Halle des Chartrons (Bordeaux), May 15, 2008. (Ari Hoenig batterie / Jonathan Kreisberg guitare / Will Vinson anches / Matt Penmann contrebasse). Great music, as usual with Ari and his friends!
Dr Ari Hoenig, am always inspired by your approach to the drums...your interpretation of Moanin' just typifies the way I always imagined the drumset could be used to express sound not only as a rhythmic but also as a melodic, even harmonic instrument. I'm a fan of your works for sure, thank you for the inspiration.
Wonderful performance! I was impressed by Ari playing "weird" drum sounds very tastefully to the music, as well as his dexterity and ability to make odd time signatures sound very natural. Plus, the conversations all the musicians were having were truly inspiring.
The very first time I got in touch with the music of the Ari Hoenig groups, was in 2007... Very inspiring and a great learning for my own musical developments... I hope this may last forever
Great Ari! always searching something different (and deep)..kind of musicians who fight against ideas that are just "here" and look for the idea that "has to be here" I'm a big fan and thank you ari for the inspiration, not only on the kit but truly human inspiration/ big up Ari.. Ibrahim "Essaouira" ;))
Especially Ari looks like robot, precise move proves background technique... I'm also big fan of Jonathan, thank you for sharing great performance, Ari!!
Must be such a pain to tune your tams before gigs. I used to tune to pitch like that when I played drums, maybe I just never was very good at tuning them, I thought it was a complete PITA haha :) Thx for upload, playing you guys loud here.
That may sound strange, but I start enjoy jazz from Ari, that was Ska theme .. best drummer ever on my opinion, so jazzy and I find a lot rock in ur play .. Keep on Ari and pls visit Ukraine )
Quite aware he's not a "Dr" by trade :).....I was just using the term metaphorically to describe his precision and style on the drums. I'm a big Ari fan and I've been for a while you know, but thanks anyways for clarifying. Keep grooving, God bless.

You got one of the strangest techniques i've ever seen. Almost all arm. It sounds great, but i guess your strength runs out quicker ^^
He plays long gigs, I think he's pretty relaxed while doing so
I Eat Snails in Ebm.......
Too bad for the sh950 pickup on matt's bass, but amazing playing nonetheless!
