I love this band and they got a great sound and melodies, but they’re not really tight. The dude with the white tele flubs it hard at 2:30. And not to be rude, but he has two chords on two strings through the whole song lol
In fact they have aged aboue 16 years since this song was released and and 13-16 years since you last saw them probably. So yea, people generally aged every year.
@@TravelerspenceAs far as music groups go these days, 46 isn’t all that old. I recently saw Def Leppard and Journey in concert. They must be in their mid 60’s. Surprisingly, they all looked really good for their age! Believe it or not, both groups sounded better than ever!
No matter how big these guys get or how much time passes, they always seem to come back to the Twin Cities to do live sets with The Current. I wonder if they like Minnesota or like working with The Current, or a combination of the two.
One of the few bands I've seen that actually sound (vocals) better live than in the album. Their shows are absolutely spectacular and the most fun concerts I've ever been to.
Phoenix sound good on a small stage, large stage, in a tiny room, on a cd or recording. That is the measure of true musicians, they sound good however they play and however you listen to them because none of it is fake, it's all true.
Strange how time passes and you can never truly stop and smell the roses. You have to hold onto those little moments forever. Also don’t you love how much memories a good song can bring back?
i know this will sound bad, but i hate seeing them older. Im so use to seeing them in their music videos. They are timeless. They bring me back to younger days. Though not very long ago, still another era in my life that im no longer in. They just felt so timeless, but clearly even they are dealing with time as well. Sigh.
This band and specifically this song has been there for me during lifes roughest moments for the last 15 years..... Today i finally landed an amazing career opportunity and this song once again popped up on some random fb video. It's my happy song 💜💜💜

I can't believe theres comments on this video of people talking about how theyve aged when preforming a song over a decade old when theyve been a band for over 2.. it's shitty to them
The key change from the original to this sounds absolutely fantastic! Such a consistently great sounding band
Damn this band is tight as heck. They all know their parts and play it so well. A symphony from a quartet.

It's a drum machine... No discredit. But it's literally as tight as scientifically possible.
This made me incredibly happy and sad at the same time..
Whoever played 2k back in the day know this was a banger
2k13 :(
Bro. Get out my head. lol. Honestly those few years of 2k had random bangers on them. Electric Eel, Mike Snow, Skeleton Boy.
Jeez they look like they've aged 20 years, making me feel old. At least they still sound fresh as ever!
I mean, they were already in their late-30’s when the album came out 14 years ago… time happens.
I don’t know the other ages but the lead singer is 46
United turns 25 next year

One of the best songs ever.
Damn, I'm old!! I was in my prime when 1901 came out. So were they!! Now look at us, grey and wrinkled!
Beautiful thing - you’ve done a lot of living since then, so have they.
No matter how big these guys get or how much time passes, they always seem to come back to the Twin Cities to do live sets with The Current. I wonder if they like Minnesota or like working with The Current, or a combination of the two.
Saw them live about 15 years ago. They were incredible.

sound better when volume turned up in my car while doing a road trip.
One of my all time favorites! Love hearing it Live after all this time
Oh man, that Fender Bullet with the pickguard/bridge is lovely! I had the same model in red…40 years ago when they came out! Always loved this song!
they did not come out 40 years ago they got together in 1998 ishhhh im p sure
These guys still sound so fuckin good, the singers voice is always butter 🧈
This reminds me of summers with my younger brother when we were kids. I miss him.

@@dylancreath2235Very true, as much as u try you can you never truly appreciate a time in ur life or a particular moment until it’s passed.

One of those bands who sound as good, if not better, live as they do on the recordings!
“Counting all different ideas drifting away
Past and present they don't matter
Now the future's sorted out
Watch her moving in elliptical patterns
Think it's not what you say
What you say is way too complicated
For a minute thought I couldn't tell how to fall out
It's twenty seconds till the last call
You're going hey hey hey hey hey hey
Lie down you know it's easy
Like we did it over summer long
And I'll be anything you ask and more
You're going hey hey hey hey hey hey hey
It's not a miracle we needed
No I wouldn't let you think so
Fold it, fold it, fold it, fold it
Girlfriend, oh your girlfriend is drifting away
Past and present 1855 -1901
Watch them built up a material tower
Think it's not gonna stay anyway
Think it's overrated
For a minute thought I couldn't tell how to fall out
It's twenty seconds till the last call
You're going hey hey hey hey hey hey
Lie down you know it's easy
Like we did it over summer long
And I'll be anything you ask and more
You're going hey hey hey hey hey hey hey
It's not a miracle we needed
No I wouldn't let you think so
Fold it, fold it, fold it, fold it”
I just can't get enough of this version, y'all are magnificent !
WOW!! Sounds great. One of my favorite songs.
they sound great. i’m in my 60s so doing this around a table and not in a concert. Venue is kind of even more appealing to me!
Great job Phoenix! I’ll see you guys in Milwaukee July 19th, 2023!

2:31 almost killed me
Was that him wiping a tear away?
@@lukeyoung5331Guitar player played the wrong thing lol
Here for the roundtable era of indie
Quel talent
he doesn’t look like what I thought he would I pictured a super young guy! I love his voice ❤
Well he was young when this song came out 13 years ago lol

É impressionante como esse guitarrista que tocava com o Daft Punk SEMPRE erra 😅
pAST AND PRESENT 1855 1901
aura
I like this version better
2.31 cut my ear
I really like this song. BUT it sounded Sooo much better Live on David Letterman. Especially with the drummer banging away.
You can tell they all took advantage of all the perks of being rock stars……but made sure the money makers stayed young
Link Neal can shred
2.24 echhh
"i farted, farted, farted, farted"
Cocaine is a hell of a drug.
The mix on this is so awful haha
