This is literally them playing live. If they don't sound like this on other live versions, it's the fault of the person on the mixing board, or the venue sucks. But as you can see here, they can play.

Ahh the late 2000's...........the last time anything remotely alternative was truly appreciated by mainstream demographics. I remember hearing this on the radio at the time and it blowing me away.........they were like a mixture of 60's psychedelia and 70's funk with a 21st century electronic twist. That for me was the last time new music scenes were truly great on any solid level.
