- In this video I demonstrate how to pick up stitches around an armhole, using my Azalea top as the example. I show you how to pick up at a ratio of 2 stitches for every 3 rows on a 32" circular, and then how you would work the armhole trim using the Magic Loop method.
I’ve looked everywhere for a video like this one, that includes the picking up of the stitches and knitting in the round. Thank you so much!
This is a great demo! Speed is good, explanation is great. So clear…well done and so appreciated
Elizabeth your videos are great, so clear, your camera skills are wonderful. You explain everything beautifully.
Thank you Elizabeth. This is a marvellous video. I am about to start this technique for the first time. Really glad you included the picking up of stitches AND getting the round started.
Thank you for this tutorial! I am a new knitter, and tonight I tried knitting in the round with magic loop for the first time. Your video explained everything perfectly, and saved my first big project! Thank you! 😊
I'm so glad you found it helpful!! :)
You saved me! All jammed up with short circular after picking up. Thank you!!!
Thank you for making the magic technique loop simple and understandable
Great tutorial! Learned everything I need to tackle these sleeves!
Thank you!!!!! This is a great explanation for a first time knitter.
Nicely explained, thank you.
Excellent video - Thank you
Thank you!!!! Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi Elizabeth, thanks for your video. Found it very helpful. Which circular knitting needles do you recommend - fixed or interchangeable? Any specific brand you prefer?
I’m so glad you found the video helpful! I go through phases with what type of needle I prefer but lately it’s been fixed needles and I love using Knitters Pride Dreamz.
Beautiful yarn can you let me know the colour and make please
It’s Feliz by Manos del Uruguay in the Spirulina color. Loved working with this yarn!
How come you skip a loop?
The reason for picking up, say, 3 stitches for every 4 rows (instead of in every row) when picking up perpendicular is because stitches tend to be wider than they are tall. If you were to pick up every row, your armhole trim would flare out. So by skipping a row every 4 rows, it evens things out. I hope that helps!
