Knitting: Picking Up Underarm Stitches to Avoid Underarm holes on a Top down Sweater - Closing Gaps

In this video I show you the method that I use for picking up the armhole stitches on the sleeves of raglan sleeved and circular yoke Top Down Sweaters, to avoid and reduce the size of potential holes.
I then show you how I close any loose stitches with a wool needle and yarn afterwards.

So you're picking up between the v's instead of through them? I've seen both ways, and wasn't sure which was best. I've been looking at tutorials because my top down raglan pattern told me to pick up 9 stitches where I had only cast on 6, and I wanted to distribute them the right way.
