Crimson Empire at least makes note of Luke having learned Form IV from Yoda during his time on Dagobah, and the audio drama for A New Hope has Obi-Wan go into significantly more detail on the tutorial lightsaber form (which we now know as Shii-Cho, Form I). So while Luke's formal education was lacking, he at least had more knowledge than you're giving him credit for. Star Wars Insider's Fightsaber article also explicitly credited Luke with having learned Form V instinctively through mirroring Vader's fighting style, though Luke wouldn't have had more formal knowledge on the form or its name. It's true that Luke's Jedi Praxeum developed three styles (Fast, Medium, Strong), but Luke wasn't actually in charge of lightsaber instruction at the Praxeum. As described in I, Jedi, Luke left combat instruction to Kam Solusar and Corran Horn (who was operating under the pseudonym Keiran Halcyon). Together, they developed the "Three Rings of Defense," and taught Luke's other students the basics of lightsaber combat. The Three Rings of Defense were likely based on the lightsaber teachings of Palpatine's Dark Side Elite from the Dark Empire comics, as Kam Solusar mentions that he learned all of his moves from Vill Goir. This idea is further backed up by Mara Jade already being familiar with the Three Rings of Defense when she first joins the Praxeum for her brief training there, implying she received the same lightsaber instruction that Kam Solusar was teaching to Luke's students. Since Mara was trained by the Emperor himself, this lends further credence to the idea that the Three Rings originated with the Empire instead of with Luke.

It's really the first time that Luke had fought a truly experienced lightsaber duelist. Even though he was defeated, he learned and even mirrored his father's fighting style in their last duel.
Slowing down the scene with Luke and the remote really lets you see how the lightsaber blade was hand tracked into the scene. It jumps all over the place.
The practice of Shien typically has an emphasis on Saber techniques that revolve around the use of a reverse-grip stance. (Ahsoka and Starkiller being prime examples of Shien users) Luke doesn't reverse-grip any of his lightsabers used and furthermore, he had time to revise with Ghost-Kenobi before heading to Tatooine to save Solo. This would suggest he's more akin to the use of the more stamina-efficient Soresu, but he may have eventually implemented the use of shien-defense while holding a Djem So stance, like his father did during the battle of Geonosis and throughout the Clone Wars. Although if that was the case, it would have been when he merged the forms together to create new ones as Grandmaster and not during RoTJ.

Tbh, if Luke had to choose a form, I bet he will do great with Form 6, Niman, the reason is that it lets the user use their imagination to their advantage, using different forms from form 1-5 in a certain order to throw off your opponent’s, and the fact you can make an attack and defense pattern with any of the forms at your choice at once is a good way to fight, by using creativity alone. So Luke would be great with form 6, Niman.
Well he slaughtered a lot of Dark Troopers, which are supposedly pretty formidable opponents, using Niman. So yeah, I would say the same. He's great at Niman.
That's what I rly like about Lukes fighting style, it's all well rounded he has the acrobatics of Yoda, the defense of Obi-wan and the power of Vader and he ultimately became a better duelist then either of them atp and Post ROTJ mastered all forms of lightsaber combat, rly a peak Jedi
I remember reading that he picked up on form five after the first battle with vader in empire strikes back so i imagine that old ben kenobi taight luke 1 and 3 and yoda helped progress those as well as showed him form 4 ataru or at least the basics and adding the acrobatics and force enhancing speed jumps and strikes. Then after picking up form five from the first duel with vader he probably learned the rest of that in the time between making him pretty formidable. But not only that but if he did pickup form five from fighting vadar in empire strikes back it wouldve been darth vaders new hybrid form five which implemented forms 2 and 3 into his djem so that he got from dooku and obi wan. He added these into his hybrid style to shore up his weaknesses and lack of mobility from being in the suit since he couldnt move as well and couldnt use all of his form five the way he used to but some pros vader gained from the cybernetics super enhanced his natural strength he also used some juyo at times with his hybrid form five enhaced by the dark side of the force so his form five hyrvrid was really form five with 2,3, and 7 added in. Darth vader learned from his defeat on mustafar and on geonisis and adopted the forms of masters dooku and obi wan to cover his weaknesses and added to his power of form five with the dark side and 7 juyo to make the ultimate lightsaber form for his situation in his suit. Anyway if luke picked up on this form five he really picked up almost everything really besides shien and niman but niman is jack of all trades form of everything before it besides two i think and also includes dual bladed saber fighting and jarkai styles. But yeah other then niman jarkai and shien luke litterally learned at least some aslects of all the form after that first fight and im sure yoda helped cement those. So when he fought vader he used his own hybrid form 5 but instead of 5,2,3, and 7… it was probably 5,1,3 and 4 which is still badass a hybrid in its own right! I think if it was me id use a shien heavy niman and try to learn vaapad and have a djem so vaapad hybrid as a secondary and my wife would be an ataru/makashi hybrid like shaak ti. Another good hybrid was plo koon he predominantly used form five shien but he used both djem so and shien but he would mix form five with ataru and the shien/ataru hybrid allowed him to best yoda once in a sparring session lightsaber duel
In regards to lightsaber combat I find it interesting that in both canon and eu descriptions of form 3 and form 7 the most defensive and most violent lightsaber forms respectively they are the most rooted in in form 1 as the Attack sequences of form 7 are thought to be the rejected maneuvers of form 1 because they were to dangerous and soresu is an refinement on form 1 defense blocks parry’s and movement form 2 breaks from the norm and form 5 is developed from form 3 and form 6 is combinations of the first 6
We dont see it in the original trilogy, and i feel a lot was left out between the three films and would be an amazing animated series like the clone wars. We dont see lukes training much other than Yoda's but my huy really is very powerful learning everytjing alone. From building his saber to using the force (big part from Yoda) and his ligtsaber training was all self taught. Thats pretty cool, but eould be cool to see him trsin it snd develop. You cant train any sport or martial srt eitjout sparring or putting itto use. God bless Favrou and Feloni for keeping Luke’s appearance and heroism from being discovered by Kathleen Kennedy before it aired. Easily the best Star Wars content from the last 40 years!
Cuz in the movies he doesn't do as crazy stuff as in the prequels, but that was mainly a limitation of the technology of the time. In lore, Luke's one of the greatest duelists of all time
When Luke was above the Sarlaac pit he was using Shien, not Soresu. This has already been confirmed in multiple media sources and by his use of blast redirection and advancement its made very clear he used Shien.
Soresu isn’t the only form that blocks blaster bolts. All forms can, soresu just tends to be the best at it followed closely by the form 5 variant shien.
FOURM 3 Defense against light saber attacks and Blaster attacks utilized by Obi-Wan kenobi Form V is a combat wich is where you constantly parry your opponents attacks and striking back with an even stronger strike
Luke actually had struggles and hardships he had to over come to get to the next level of mastery in his life. Which is why we loved the character, cheers him on with our hearts, and were glued to the screen to see what was going to happen next. Rich, spoiled, privileged writers, producers, and directors have trouble understanding that concept. I can't imagine why.
Ayo didn't Rey endure a series of mental challenges upon touching an f-ing lightsaber which reminded her of traumatic memories, all of that happening after her friend told her everything she knew about him was a lie? Also don't forget the part where she was captured and tortured by Kylo Ren. Oh yea and her being slammed into a tree head first knocking her out. Then she only (barely) beats Kylo who is wounded immensely by Chewbaccas bowcaster Doesn't she then endure another series of mental challenges regarding her parents and is then told that they just sold her for drinking money? Doesn't she get completely knocked out by a ship ramming into the ship she and Kylo where in? Doesn't she then have to endure more stress as Palpatine returns and she keeps fighting with Kylo? And then Doesn't she get nearly all of her life energy sucked out of her? Doesn't she then die whilst defeating Palpatine (and only with the aid of every single jedi) and then have only moments to spend with a redeemed Ben before he dies? Ah yes, Mary Sue right here folks

Makes sense. His own style fits him, but he also has a mechanical hand like his father. No form better fits that kind of strength and power in the force, than form five.
When you think about it, Anakin was also very naturally talented, so when you think about it that way it makes more sense why luke was able to beat vader after only minimal training.
I think its also that emotionally he had a lot of motivation, he was at the apex of his journey and his friends and the entire rebellions lives were at stake, which is why he was so aggressive. Vader meanwhile was unusually conflicted. It's not like Vader could just kill him outright because he wanted himself and Luke to rule the empire. So it was a guy with everything to lose vrs a guy who had to try to force a stalemate to get what he actually wanted
I mean it makes sense, Obi-Wan was considered the best form III user in his era, his padawan Anakin used Form V, which was developed by users of Form III, who considered form III too passive. And Form IV was used by Yoda and Qui-Gon.
If Luke had to have 1 form I’d say it’d be Form 6 with a heavy influence of form 5. Form 6 blended Forms 1,3,4 & 5. He probably fully mastered forms 1, 3 & 5 and had a technical mastery of form 4. Lastly with his immense strength in the force attacking or defending using telekinesis or using force enhanced strikes would’ve been child’s play
People think, because Lucas didn't bother to convey it, that Hyperspace Travel is instantaneous, but they were on the Falcon for days, getting to Alderaan! Tatooine is on The Rim. Alderaan is one of the Core Worlds. Lucas just didn't bother to show the tedium of a multiday journey in a 2 hour film. So when Hand Leia had to fly on sunlight engines from near Hoth to Bespin, even if they were within the same Star System, it took months to fly there! So Luke had months with Master Yoda, if not years of relative time!
Luke is the most underrated Jedi ever. He gets no respect specially cause of Disney. I’m sure if George Lucas was involved in the last 3 films he would be the most bad ass character in all of Star Wars.
Wait. Is it fair to say that Luke became a master of Niman/ Form VI? I ask because Form VI is a combination of Forms I, III, IV, and V, with the added emphasis using telekinetic Force attacks and being able to use two lightsabers.
Honestly after looking at the first official fight of Luke since Episode 6 (we don't talk about Sequels), he was pretty much Niman'ing all over the Dark Troopers in Mandalorian. Niman has a high focus on flexibility and blending bladework with Force telekinesis.
@Dedu1214 Double-Blade and Dual-Wield combat are both sub-variants of Form VI itself, and can be applied (in theory) to any and every form from the first to last. (Makashi is the only real exception, as it's only meant to be practiced with a single-blade Saber [although Ventress showed its use with Jar'Kai]) Niman itself is just the place to go when you can decide on just _one_ form.
Since Luke can communicate with Yoda, Ben, and Anakin, in the afterlife, I imagine he could have received some training from them as well, wouldn't he?

That's what I rly like about Lukes fighting style, it's all well rounded he has the acrobatics of Yoda, the defense of Obi-wan and the power of Vader and he ultimately became a better duelist then either of them atp and Post ROTJ mastered all forms of lightsaber combat, rly a peak Jedi
I bet that George locus, the maker of Star Wars him self doesn’t even know that😂
Disney: yeah... i don't like it. **throws everything to the trash**
Luke did like what Bruce Lee did with combining different martial arts forms.
That's awesome I've been wondering that for a while now
He mastered the lightsaber throw for episode 8
Imo Luke is underrated from watching all these videos. Imo they just don’t know the man, the myth, the legend
Love the last pic
Luke most likely knew every form because he learned from mostly yoda
And he was a good friend
Im not a big follower on legends or canons books, i don know if they say how he trsined and actually applied his methids indtead of just lesrning the theory of it
I know he used remotes, but I'm not sure about the rest.
Cool, I always wondered how he was Abel to learn so fast and take on Darth Vader
God bless Favrou and Feloni for keeping Luke’s appearance and heroism from being discovered by Kathleen Kennedy before it aired. Easily the best Star Wars content from the last 40 years!
This is why i absolutely LOVE luke Skywalker as a character
Incase you don’t know,BBY,DBY and ABY mean Before Battle of Yavin,During Battle of Yavin and After Battle of Yavin.
I LOVE the Raw Power album by Iggy & The Stooges! I'm so glad that Luke did, too.
Imagine Luke started training when he was a kid like the test of Jedi
Imagine fanfics going to bring back Windu and he taught Luke Form VII Vaapad in Legend😮
I believe it was the combination of forms 3, 4, and 5 which he used to become the last laser master.
And he is labeled a bad duelist. People need to see vids like this
Rey and Kylo Ren are bad duelist
Cuz in the movies he doesn't do as crazy stuff as in the prequels, but that was mainly a limitation of the technology of the time. In lore, Luke's one of the greatest duelists of all time
He is bad duelist compared to any jedi during the clone wars
Luke Skywalker is one bad Jedi mutha. Anybody who is mad enough to draw him is Bantha Fodder.
@@urjnlegend u got to be pretty special to go toe to toe with Darth Vader
He used the "we haven't quite figured out this lightsaber stuff yet" form
He used the secret form 8 which is “this was before there were dedicated canon lightsaber forms so he uses whatever looks good for the screen”
In ROTJ it looked like he used form 25, McGwire. Swing that bat for the fences with your enhanced strength
All these different forms. I would probably just swing it around and hope for the best.
When Luke was above the Sarlaac pit he was using Shien, not Soresu. This has already been confirmed in multiple media sources and by his use of blast redirection and advancement its made very clear he used Shien.
Grand Master Luke Is Like A Mirror Image Of Master Kenobi And Grand Master Yoda, They Trained Him Well
bro thats litterally the definition of a mary sue lol, i feel bad ):
luke”i’m making my own lightsaber duel form”
yoda “disapprove the jedi council does”
luke”the fcking grandmaster i am”
Soresu isn’t the only form that blocks blaster bolts. All forms can, soresu just tends to be the best at it followed closely by the form 5 variant shien.
I feel like I hat would great for a gam combining forms
Be nice if they did season with Luke like they did for an and oska. Seeing Luke become great master be awesome. Like what I saw from the comic Luke.
Then she only (barely) beats Kylo who is wounded immensely by Chewbaccas bowcaster
Doesn't she then endure another series of mental challenges regarding her parents and is then told that they just sold her for drinking money? Doesn't she get completely knocked out by a ship ramming into the ship she and Kylo where in?
Doesn't she then have to endure more stress as Palpatine returns and she keeps fighting with Kylo? And then Doesn't she get nearly all of her life energy sucked out of her? Doesn't she then die whilst defeating Palpatine (and only with the aid of every single jedi) and then have only moments to spend with a redeemed Ben before he dies?
Ah yes, Mary Sue right here folks

Yeah. Kyle leered at her and she cried "rape".
Kyle didn't "man splain" anything too her or they would have had to make the movie "Rated R".
Luke got blown out of a window, and then got his hand chopped off all after finding out Darth Vader was his father.
Rey's character arch was like looking out over the horizon...slight.
Nothing compared to the originals.
But conveniently very Gen Z.
I give them that.

BTW, is Disney paying you? Because you should get paid as part if KK's PR/propaganda team.

Ah..thank you?
I think it had tremendous potential.
The actors were great but the writing, plot, and concepts fell WAY short.
And I feel there is no excuse for that.
The hardest part was creating it, making it work, and getting it right...and they did!
Yeah, there were ups and downs BUT...they learned from their mistakes, adapted the corrections, and make an overall better product.
I believe KK pushed an agenda over delivering a solid, well balanced product.
And they let her do it, and keep doing it!
And it shows.
Mountains of Star Wars mech unsold and trashed.
Disney stock taking a nose dive and the company losing billions.
Look. I want good Star Wars.
I've the books and comic book of the EU and IT'S AWESOME.
So...maybe they'll get that righd? Yuk
Makes sense. His own style fits him, but he also has a mechanical hand like his father. No form better fits that kind of strength and power in the force, than form five.
Coolness brother
Are we not gonna talk about how at the end he has a literal lightsaber resting on his shoulder
I hope to see him in battle again after watching mandalorian
I bet Yoda's dad was a beast!!
When you think about it, Anakin was also very naturally talented, so when you think about it that way it makes more sense why luke was able to beat vader after only minimal training.
After I thought about it, that does make sense (after I thought about it :) )!
Legends Luke was a master of all forms bro was unstoppable
He did all that, but still couldn’t install fire extinguishers for sprinkler system in his Jedi temple
Shortly, he is using the skywalker form :D
Now thats the og story may disney never try to mimic it
Ive read that when luke got furious against vader in rotj he was also using form 7 juyo
Considering he used forms 3, 4 and 5, that would mean he’d be skilled in Form VI, Niman, the synthesis of multiple lightsaber forms
So he eventually mastered Lightsaber Form VI, Niiman which known as Jack of all Trades of the lightsaber form.
Forget about Disney! Dark Horse will always be my favourite depictions of Luke in the expanded universe.
T
Luke Skywalker, in his young Jedi days was a beast.
Luke Skywalker is one of the badass jedi hands down
Well. 😊He did Master all 7 Forms.
Mostly on his own, too.😊
He used the defensive form on Jabba's Barge and still ended up getting shot lmao.
Leia in that damn outfit distracted my boi
Just like how Vader mastered every form of combat and combined them
If Luke had to have 1 form I’d say it’d be Form 6 with a heavy influence of form 5.
I’m sure if George Lucas was involved in the last 3 films he would be the most bad ass character in all of Star Wars.
im a user of all forms but mostly 3 4 and 5
Honestly during EP VI he just seemed to swing his lightsaber like a baseball bat.
what a legend
At least in Legends he probably mastered all of the forms plus he was probably pretty good at the Sith forms to.
Did you know that Luke Skywalker's preferred lightsaber form was actually a combination of forms 4 and 5
Niman also incorporates form 2, aince niman takes from every form before it
2 lightsabers is jar'kai. Niman is mostly for Double blades
@Dedu1214 Double-Blade and Dual-Wield combat are both sub-variants of Form VI itself, and can be applied (in theory) to any and every form from the first to last. (Makashi is the only real exception, as it's only meant to be practiced with a single-blade Saber [although Ventress showed its use with Jar'Kai])
Niman itself is just the place to go when you can decide on just _one_ form.
The forms of his two masters and his father.
HE’S HIM!!
I am studying all forms so I can be unstoppable in combat
