    The tin with decals is a technique i used to use with wargaming figures banners back in the 90s in place of the paper ones typically provided. It can work quite well with care and could be used for RBF tags and similar things. The metal of drinks cans is probably fine enough.

    I do have to confess, Gary. I watched you putting the seats into the cockpit and thought: "'Shouldn't you be doing the Seatbelts now, Gary? It's going to be a real awkward task in that narrow cockpit if you do it later on...." Buy you did make it work, even if your hair looks a little bit sparse, now! ;-)

    That positive >click< as parts go together is very satisfying. With those small decals and the dry-brushing, that cockpit has come alive. I also use graphite dust/ground pencil lead very lightly to give just a hint of shine, showing wear.

    Re painting. As I'm inclined to be a bit prone to overspill with a brush I'd be inclined to dry fit, say the seat parts first, mark the areas which would be glued eventually, then paint the rest before assembly. That way there's no glue on the contact surfaces, but you don't risk any overspill if you slip whilst painting.

      @@garys_stuff Yeah you have the tarangus/Special hobby one.. I´ve built three, one of them about to be painted 82nd in splinter). A bit.. Chonky kit..
      But the JAs, the interceptor version were grey (some were still in splinter though) and then you have the unpainted AJs and the grey-grey AJSFs of SWAFRAP, the Swedish Rapid Reaction Force from the AF. Those had the same grey as the gripens (not the same as the JAs).
      So you don´t have to make a splinter.. :)

    Hi Gary, I’m Kenny and I’ve just started watching your channel. For this I’m so sorry as the videos you produce are top notch 🤓 seriously I’m so impressed with content AND your presentation 🤩 I like how you record every comment on clicking bell, subscribing etc most just record it once and stick that recording on the end of each video which is, in my opinion, lazy.
    Your build videos are very interesting as you explain so much about the kit and the actual aircraft itself ie the ejection seats being offset to each other 😎 very informative of you and for me extremely interesting 🤓😎🤩 I also like how you show mistakes or fiddly bits with sausage fingers 😅🤣 I myself suffer badly with this and the fact I have hardly any feelings in my fingertips 😅 I also mainly build 1/35th WWII German armour, mainly Tiger I’s 😍 but I have a number of 1/32nd aircraft that I’m intending to build once I’ve built up my skills a bit more 🤓 mistakes or fudging can easily be hidden on an armour kit with a well placed tarpaulin or copious amounts of thick mud 😉 but with aircraft you have no such luxuries 😳🥴😔 anyway thank you very much for your wonderful channel, a breath of fresh air 😍😍😍 I wish you every success Gary you totally deserve it mate as all the hard work you do is very much appreciated 🙏😍👍👍👍👍👍👍

    AH...the Blackburn, NA 39, Buccaneer...I have 3 of them.(Corgi die cast in 1.72 scale) I made the Airfix kit when it was first issued.
    How much was it...I hear you ask...
    OK. It was as far as I recall, Airfix series 2. Which were a bit more expensive at 4/6d (Decimal translation = 22.5p)
    and the nose could be set sideways, the air brakes could be set at fully open and the wings had the folded option.
    Boring self endulgent stuff....
    Living with spitting distance of the Hawker Siddley factory at Brough, East Yorkshire I often met people who built this 'Beast of Maritime aviation. And according to them...it was an absolute beast.
    Boring self indulgent stuff....
    I had a metal staircase from the Buccaneer assembly jig which came in handy what I needed to replace my old slippery wooden and extremely perilous workshop staircase.
    FURTHER....
    Freinds who were instructors in the training section at Brough...oversaw the refurbishment of the centre section on the 'Handley Page Halifax' that is on permanent display near York.
    There is only 1 aircraft that can replace the Buccaneer....and that's Another Buccaneer.
    Nice job on the build...and fine tribute to 'The boys' at Brough.

    Gary do you know if the buccaneer had it's wepons loaded while the wings were folded as struggling to find any reference photo's that show this

      Most stores fitted to the outboard pylons would need to be lifted on a loader due to there weight, so it wouldn’t be possible with the wings folded. Saying that, I have seen armourers fitting practice bomb carriers use scaffolding on folded wings, but they are just a 2 man lift. Once fitted, the wings could be folded if needed. The Bucc was supposed to have been able to carry 3 1000lb bombs on a Triple Ejector Rack on the outboard pylons. Never seen it done, and i guess it wouldn’t be a good idea to fold the wings with that weight hanging of them.

      Sorry, they weren’t Triple Ecjector Racks, it was a single rack, one behind the other.🫢

    Can i ask which washes you use please

    • @garys_stuff
      @garys_stuff  10 місяців тому +1

      Sure Kevin, on this kit I used the Vallejo Model Wash black, the water based one (their code 76.518). More recently I have also been using enamel-based washes like those from AK and Ammo, the one I use depends on the colour of the kit.

    I use Vallejo Acrylics but the paint strips off the plastic easily. Anyone know how to better adhere the paint to the plastic?
    I wash it with soapy water and let it dry for a day.

    • @garys_stuff
      @garys_stuff  Рік тому +1

      Just a decent primer, I normally use Jenolite grey plastic primer, make sure to let the paint dry fully and use low-tack tape, I use Frog Tape. Haven't had any issues for quite a while now (touch wood) and I use the tape for masking camouflage patterns and such.

      I didn't have too much of an issue to be fair. Maybe I need to build another one to be sure - when the RAF ones come out next year perhaps.
