Nice one mate.. good job!. I have an Airfix 1/72 Buccaneer... HMS Eagle visited NZ in the early 70's and it had Buccaneer planes and I been interested ever since,.. cheers from NZ👍🇳🇿
beautiful !!!! the iconic Buck !!! used to see a lot of them fly over Northumberland when i was a kid , very fond memories of this old bird Cheers Mac !!!!!! and thank you ..Shaun.
As a trivia: they actually used Tamiya acrylics to paint the nose art for the buccs in DS1. There’s a picture of what I think may be the crew chief painting the art.
I was with the Buccaneers (208 Sqn) out in Muharraq, as a young 19 year old, and watched the technician paint this very aircraft. Lossiemouth was my first posting and the Buccaneer was and still is my favourite. Excellent work evoking some great memories
@@andypetrie5270 That is absolutely incredible!!! Thank you so much for the comment, has made my evening! Glad you liked it, and thank you for your service :)
The transparent wing tips is a great idea..in the past aircraft models were usually provided with a port and starboard transparent navigation light which were incredibly small and fiddly to fix on especially in 1:72nd scale. Making the entire wing tip as a transparency enables the non painted part (the actual navigation light) to be correctly fitted and then simply mask off the transparent light when painting the wing.
Very sweet build! I just finished the first two airfix kits of this aircraft and now im just finishing the 1/48 version. After this video im going to have to go back and do some retouch . I forgot the exhaust stains! One great thing about RAF gulf war aircraft, no stencils and loads of weathering.
Thank you so much! Yuuuppp I was so happy to see no stencils… that being said i’m usually rather naughty and leave a lot of them off🤣 I would love to do the 1/48 version of this kit it looks superb!

@@machmodels Interesting, challenging too, spent quite a few hours upside down in the cockpit bleeding the brake system. But these really flew low across the sea and the rear tail hatch, where the LOX pot was stowed usually had sea water in it after a sortie against shipping. We had an amazing squadron on 237 OCU and they were brilliant on use of the pavespike for designated bomb targets. I wanted to go with the Sky pirates to the gulf but was on Nimrod majors, but have film of your jet coming home, Lossiemouth was packed. Great job by the way, brought back some good memories. All the best in the New Year to you.
To answer your question about the transparent wingtips, I’m quite sure it is for having the navigation lights as glass, instead of flat paint or metallic ones
Thank you so much! I knew it was going to be a small challenge to replicate such a dynamic paint job of faded yet dirty paint but i’m lucky for it to have just about worked out!
Do you have a video of your studio by chance and where are you shoot your models and build them? I have mine built, but I’m looking to move in another couple years and I am gathering ideas for the next upgrade.
What did you think the paint with, I've tried this on a tornado and jaguar, both times the paint has either come out like water ie no colour or thick and spits, cheers
So I just used some water! Filled the pot up to a couple mm before toe top of the pot, shut it, then shook like hell! I wish I could give you a more definitive answer but that’s all I have got, sorry!😁
Just to let you know Humbrol 121 works very well for the main sand colour and can be weathered nicely. I have used it on a Bucc and a Tornado and they came out looking good. Worth a try if you use Humbrol.
Looks great. We'll done. I had the misfortune to build the old 1/48 Airfix "effort ".........what a sh#t box that was ......but it sits on my shelf as an example of how a terrible kit can be reasonably well built with grim determination. Lesson learned......research research research BEFORE....buying a kit and don't just blindly fall in love with either the subject matter or box art.
I like this jet Blackburn Buccaneer S.2B nice build model kit from Airfix. ❤😊🤩

I can’t get enough of his videos they are so funny!
