I don't have an issue with the Power system in Destiny, getting gear to raise it is fine, even with how annoying drops can be. If Bungie was insistent on maintaining this system, my only desire would be to make it where once you hit the Hard Cap, a drop would automatically raise all of the same gear type. So if you got a 2001 Helmet, all of your Helmets would become 2001, removing the pointless and tedious requirement of getting more drops at the Pinnacle Cap and wasting materials and time upgrading the gear you've already upgraded countless times before. Having it increase once a year alongside the expansion was fine because it gave us another thing to do in the background of everything else. But every three months? No fucking thanks.

A better idea would be to start all current activity challenges as powerful engrams/drops Then when you hit the powerful cap, they all switch to pinnacle engrams/drops. Finally when you hit the pinnacle cap, they should switch to exotic engrams/drops. That way you're always getting gear that you need for doing the challenges.

Was thinking of hopping on after almost a 2 year hiatus. Me and my friend who also took a long break played with me. We decided to do a dungeon then we saw that we were getting clapped. And then we saw that the activity was 50 levels above our rank. We both stopped playing.

@@wolfgang5359 yeah nah man I only stuck around the witch queen expansion. I played two seasons of the game in total and you know what the model was boring AF and just nerfed me for no reason. I can't imagine people deal with this seasonal model for years at this point.
@@jhonayo4887 Agreed on the seasonal model being terrible. There were some fun ones like Opulence, but for the most part, Bungie just keeps throwing in nerfs every time just so they can get playtime numbers up just to show an illusion of relevance. Again though, I felt it fell off with Season of the Deep as that was the YAS nerf and then they just kept going with stupid nerfs, adding minus power to activities that shouldn't have it, and even doing nerfs to PvE despite it only being a problem in PvP.
Thank you for being one of the only YT'ers not being an arse about this just so that they can appear contrary and get views. Couldn't agree more with everything you've said in this video by the way. I'm just sick and tired of little shit like this power leveling 'issue'. Whats the point of leveling up when they can just cap you. I really don't know whats going on inside their meetings.
Totally agree !! Which is why I barely play now. I've gone from prob 40 hours a week (8000 total) running GMs etc to maybe 2 afternoons of PVP just to muck around. Haven't gone Flawless yet so working on that. I'm sick of running stupid Exotic missions multiple times and grinding for Power levels. Screw it.. And I've lost count of how many hundreds of Upgrade Modules I've used this season. It's ridiculous..
I ranted about this something like 2 years ago. My point was that if everyone still wants to level things then make it about access to content, and don't make it super difficult to get pinnacle gear. I dislike needing a higher light level to compete. I said this because at a certain point it's basically grinding to play the game instead of playing the game to do more of the game. One is fun and one gets old before you even get to do what you really want to do
I couldnt even be bothered to powerlevel back in Final Shape. Why would I want to now with even less stuff to do? I havent played since like mid-July. Powerleveling always sucked. Its a completely meaningless and artificial pursuit by Bungie to try and artificially increase play times and retention.
Tizzle you made many great points, but hit the nail on the head when you talked about upgrading everything to 2000. My vault is mostly 2000 now. 100s of upgrade modules for what??!! COME ON BUNGIE!! F this change. Thanks for the video
Great content. I Really like your idea of upgrading the weapon or gear slot. I wish there is clear indicators of what my HP is what my damage is etc.... That is why is satisfying to grind in games like Elden Ring because you can clearly see what you are grinding for...
I 100% agree with your take. Power level needs to not be a thing anymore. So over grinding for grinding sake. Been doing this shizz for 10 freaking years, and it needs to end.
@itzTizzle I have watched & listened to this entire video, thank you for taking the time for making it. I agree with your points. It's a shame that bungie have created a situation for you to feel the way you do about the game, I hope they stop these changes ASAP. Best wishes.
I am sick of people telling me that the biggest nitpick I have with Destiny is a nothing problem. I liked Power levels when they were increases rarely and they actually mattered. I Just do not enjoy the meaningless feature now. Cut the fluff.
People are leaving bc of changes like this because it's a value of time without respecting it as you said and they're still just toying with edge cases of what the minimum viable product is for destiny and how it can feed into the casual audience. Rather than remaking the grind to garner respect like exotics and light level did in D1, it's now a resource sink to keep even veterans constantly scrounging for more all to insert a numeric key that artificially moves forward into activities just to be able to use whatever we want to use.
To I barely purchased TFS a month ago, I’m not up to level yet and now I won’t be. Wish they would give us a chalice built into our ghosts. Let us choose which drops we get. We tired of random well I am
I just dont want to raid & dont want to play a class that I dont enjoy just for the pinnacles. Add "pinnacle" to engram tracker and let us get them from the activity we enjoy on the class we enjoy. That is the compromise.
This system is too tedious to not be properly rewarding. There's no knockout system, so you can run a whole raid/dungeon and if RNG isn't on your side you'll get 3 Pinnacles for slots that they don't matter in. That's only if you grind the current raid/dungeon. If you don't have access to the current raid/dungeon, you have to play an old dungeon/raid for a Pinnacle from the last encounter. So if you can't get a final checkpoint, looks like you're grinding a whole raid/dungeon just for the 1 pinnacle, which again can go to a slot it's not needed in due to no knockout system for the pinnacle grind. Then when you are finally able to complete this annoying grind, you're rewarded less than you used to be because some people thought us being properly rewarded for meeting or exceeding the power set of an activity was "too much" and made us "too powerful." I'm so sick of hearing that phrase. We'll never be how we're described in the lore and people want us to be on the weaker end for some absurd reason.
I feel like the only “levels” we should be grinding are our season pass. It shouldn’t contribute to damage just as a metric to watch. However I say this because of the difficulty setting. I believe players who want to challenge themselves and Master the game should be able to choose their own handicaps. Like Skulls from Halo, these guys used to know how to add in level modifiers, it was one of the things I enjoyed about Nightfall passes at the end of year 1 of D2. If you can select a difficulty then those difficulties need to offer new mechanics on top of enemies having more health, I’m a little excited for the “Banes” but what I want or new movement and attack patterns from bosses and even champions. I feel like those would be more challenging venues for the game. I just hate the currency grind in those game it’s the most off putting aspect of d2. D1 rise of iron was my favorite everything got you to the level and if you were a grinder it got you there faster. I want players who have a method to have an advantage over me but I also don’t want to have to worry about resources
For me, best case scenario for Destiny would be making power disabled/minus power a toggle, making getting Pinnacle gear actually good instead of getting the same piece over and over again, and having the focus be not on just a check list grind for a god roll, but for activities to be actually fun. Episode: Echoes was a terrible episode as a whole and having that minus power for the activities made them worse to do. I would love to do activities that are actually fun rather than do the same annoying dungeon over and over again just for an exotic drop to almost never drop because rng is absolutely terrible in this game. For that part alone, I would rather do an exotic quest for said Dungeon/raid like the Gjallarhorn quest for Grasp of Avarest and for that activity to be fun rather than something like Salvation's Edge and its want for you to do activities perfectly by dealing with a bs timer and having to do a single section 3 times just to progress to the next and do it again all for just a lower chance then a gacha game at getting that stupid exotic.
I feel like the only place where Bungie uses light level right is as a way to funnel players into an expansion's campaign missions and setting up those that do the legend campaign to go right into endgame/light-limited content afterward.
I hate this change too but you don't have to run the raids again. You should level up naturally with doing the dungeon and pinnacles from the seasonal activity. When Final Shape dropped, I got to pinnacle cap within 2 weeks of hardcore grinding and optimizing and it was such a waste of time because the bonus power was useless. GMs wouldn't come out till later and I would have reached pinnacle by that point by just naturally playing the game. What I am saying is just play the game naturally and not in a way that makes you hate it. Protect ya mental.
THANK YOU! I feel like I made this video you said EVERYTHING I would have. I finished maxing out almost my entire vault to 2000 assuming I'd probably be good until frontiers and then I'm hit with with nonsense. I'm not infusing all those armors and weapons again. I'll play and get artifact power but my vault is mostly staying at 2000. I feel just like what others have said it really lowered my anticipation for the next episode. And I assume their plan is raising it again to 2020 in episode 3. I really hope people keep floating the idea of infusing character slots and just letting us use our entire inventory without worrying about light levels beyond that.
It's to the point where I spend more time watching UA-cam videos about Destiny than actually playing. And the fact that the "sandbox shift" is just undoing a lot of the Nerfs pre lightfall. What's next they're going to buff le monarque lol.
Just to let you know, after the first 3 teams clear contest mode, it will unlock normal mode, so you'll be able to make your guide fairly quick. Also, the Pathfinder rewards are actually pinnacle, even though they say Prime
I was frustrated about the power increase before i watched youre video. Having someone smarter than me explaining it like you did made me even more frustrated. If i wasnt at work i would go punch some drywall..
Man 14k hours hours for what like omg i used to love this game with a passion but now it is just a addiction thats all this game is and im honestly just coping
its like perfectly terrible, If you're a fan of the power grind i doubt 10 levels is enough to get you excited while simultaneously if you hate the power grind 10 levels is enough to be annoying. it's literally the perfect disaster.
The worst part is how they went about it. Talk about "the endgame player" but still not have flawless requirement on dungeon and raid seals Do it a week before Have a whole goddam job called "power level expert" (????) who seems not to understand why this system was removed before despite being called a "expert" on it
It's more than a bone, I've got a shovel in my hand! The grind is bad enough but this @#%@# RNG that accompanies this is maddening! What's the point? I've got all THREE characters at 1999 and not a single class item at 2000. I have TEN 2K kinetic weapons, SIX 2K energy weapons, TWO 2K heavy weapons, THREE 2K Titan Helmets, FOUR 2K Titan Gauntlets, ONE 2K Chest, TWO 2K Legs, and ZERO Class item. Titan 1999 7/8. Warlock 1999 5/8. Hunter 1999 6/8. This BS will drive me from the game. I play a TON and I've really had it. THIS will be my last grind, I have better far less annoying things to do. I've got far too many touching grass and real touchable items that I'll always have like my photography. 7K+ hours in, but I've had it with this grind - one more time and done! Watch me...
The thing I don’t get is people claiming they want a “gear reset” to have something to grind for, but then the same people whine about 10 light levels. I can’t get my head around it.
Hit the nail on the head with the D1 comparison. The game was more fun when you were actually rewarded for being a higher level and not just punished for being lower.
your thoughts pretty much echo mine, power grind has become a pointless annoying grind and i wish they would actually listen instead of being tone deaf like always. even then it wouldn’t be so bad if they just had every drop weighted to your lowest slots, take rng out of pinnacle grind and i wouldn’t even complain. that and having to infuse EACH piece of gear to the new level really sucks. i usually just stick with one build/set of weapons until I reach pinnacle cap because it’s not even worth infusing everything else up until that point. those my biggest issues with power grind, is the fact it’s complete RNG, i get its “looter shooter” but endgame should be focused on builds, grinding for weapons and whatever else; instead of pointless “make numbers go up”.
They don't want to make more content so that's an easy way to make people play what's in the game already. Also power level should not be tight to the gear but the character. Infusing items for power is such a lame mechanic in 2025
yeah man, not impressed with the power grind at all. really limiting moving my loadouts around and powering up armour and weapons. rng not kind too with pinny drops
I legitimately think that the best thing they can do to prolong engagement is open up build diversity by allowing 2 exotic items on each side. Not just increasing a monotonous number grind. Imagine Gyrfalcon chest piece with Galanor/Crytarachne class item. I would love to just mess around with all the unique interactions. My eyes are on blight ranger with dombadiers running winter's shroud and dusk field grenades to freeze everyone and drop a bomb and keep moving. There's so much we be able to experiment with especially with adjustments to prismatic going forward. Bungie is sitting on a feature that could bring in and hold a lot of engagement. "Even if it breaks the code..."
I can’t stand my items not being maxed out either! I just finished getting my 600 items in my vault all at 2000! What can we do to get them to listen to us ? !!!
This is how Bungie convinced SONY that Destiny was worth $3.6 billion. Look how many players play for Sooo long. Looks like no one at SONY even played Destiny. as its been said, players are only grinding/Playing because they HAVE to. And havibn the best Artifact MODs at the very end...being FORCED to grind just to play the game.
I dont get why people get upset or pissed its just like 10 powerlevel more then everybody is right now so it really doesnt matter and even if you stay at 2000 you will not see much difference if you get 2010 and also there is always gonna be someone who is high engouh to push the other players powelevel up
They need to remove power from the game, cause with power being capped it’s just not worth grinding for. For example if they took power out of the game, EVERYONE including new lights would be capped at -20 for Master content. It’s a huge chore to grind power but even with the changes we got. This change will make more people leave fr. Also I saw the new annoying modifiers they’re adding, I hate that. The game is definitely not heading in a good direction
exactly. Having to play content people don't want to engage with is going to make players stop playing altogether. Like all my friends who enjoy PVP/Trials

Is 10 power levels really that bad? Idk i still kinda find it fun power level, and it's not like pinnacle gear or upgrade modules. Ppl also forget they just announced upcoming difficult changes in certain activities, so maybe power levels will matter more with that. I do feel that there definitely needs to be more impact on leveling up and overleveling. But other then that i really think people are going crazy over something thats not really a big deal 🤷🏿♂️
It’s the limiting of resources and forcing you to infuse all your gear and weapons… again… I don’t think light level would be as much of a problem if they removed it from your gear and just have it tied to your account. If you play 3 characters and they got rid of the basically infinite glimmer you need another 100+ upgrade modules.
Really hope this is ragebait because there's no way you're this fkn dumb. A literal HALF of his point is that power grind should actually mean something. The D2 grind is a literal time-suck mechanic, nothing more. Tf is the point of leveling to meet the level for an activity, just to have it do nothing?
This so much! Lol. People just cant handle that gear score is part of almost every single MMO. And earning power bumps in destiny is faster than any other MMO I have played.
If power levels are so useless... Why waste breath bitching about an increase to the cap? It's not a big deal. You'll get the cap without trying. Even if it doesn't make a difference it's still a new goal.
@@itztizzle Maybe the players suffering from OCD and the vault hoarders are negatively affected... But that's kind of a 'YOU' problem. You said that power level doesn't make you feel stronger then said because you won't be at cap for day 1 dungeons it would somehow affect the content you make. 'YOU' problem. There are soooo many ways to get pinnacles, for every type of content. No one is forcing you into grinding one type of content so you can get to max in week 1, that's YOUR choice. _'you' problem_ In almost every game there is a gear treadmill that does nothing because the content that comes with the increase is tuned. Same thing here. Even if it's just to get people playing more, that's good, and would probably be beneficial to those who make $ off of how many people are currently playing Destiny... 'you' ... get it... Upgrade modules aren't a big deal, glimmer and E cores aren't hard to get. A 'Knock-out System' and a upgrade module / glimmer cap increase would be very nice though. No one would argue with you on that one.
Im sorry but this is kinda of a miss. The power grind is not the same. Power is account wide now. There reason you are seeing powerful from vangaurd/gambit and other activites is because you hit the cap. That change was in a past twab/d. As someone who plays the game on a daily basis on other character you can just play how you want and you will hit the cap without trying. The power delta between 2010 and 2000 is like one shot from a primary weapon. That being said I wish they would get rid of upgrade modules now that shit is annoying this is a relic of old destiny that needs to be taken out back and shot .
The upgrade modules you mentioned at the end is the problem. If you could have basically infinite glimmer you can just buy as many as you want outright. Now you can run out of glimmer then have to farm glimmer from activities. Just remove gear having levels and make it just the account and I don’t think people would care as much.
@@amorfati4927 honestly glimmer at least for me is not hard to come by. I find it more annoying having to store infusion fodder and in some cases forgetting about it. Or like when you want to take change your weapon mid game and its low light (this is fixed with fireteam power now so its not as bad). I just feel that most complaints about the change are reactionary and don't get the the heart of the problem which in my opinion is the upgrade modules. With the recent twab we are only getting one raid/dungeon to so the complaint about being to low for solo flawless doesn't really apply. Which always changes based on artifact perks anyways. WR was way more easy with just artifacts then it was before.
Wow. The Destiny community is so ridiculously casual now. If it doesn't matter, why do you care? I enjoy chasing the useless number. I understand that it's useless, but I still want to chase the number. If it doesn't matter, then stop complaining. They didn't do it for you. They did it for me.

@Kahless_the_Unforgettable you are dense. This useless number wastes player time to make them relevant enough to actually play the activities they want to play. Same. I have ever exotic except for the new Raid one and Choir. I haven't logged in since July...
The power bump is 10 pathetic levels. You can reach that in literally no time.
Was thinking of hopping on after almost a 2 year hiatus. Me and my friend who also took a long break played with me. We decided to do a dungeon then we saw that we were getting clapped. And then we saw that the activity was 50 levels above our rank. We both stopped playing.
that's so sad to hear. I don't blame you guys whatsoever. But how annoying. Just let people play what they wanna play!
@@itztizzle Foreal man it's just so unnecessary. This game just doesn't respect our time. For God's sake I can't even play with a buddy to play! Yeah we can play but we'll have to to do crap we don't want to do. All I like in destiny are nightfalls that's it! I don't like pvp,I don't like dungeons just nightfalls. But I can't even do that without some dumb grind.
@@jhonayo4887For me, I enjoy Dungeons sometimes with my group, but ever since they added minus power to literally every activity that isn't patrols, my friends all quit. If this new dungeon isn't good, both of them are leaving for good so I'm stuck by myself. Once the 3rd episode is over, if Bungie doesn't improve their game and give me an actual reason to play after that, I'm gone too.
Funny, because it's not only you, nor just me, it's the vast majority of the player base that is left.
Please for the love of God remove it. It's just an artificial grind that's awful.
I've played Destiny since it came out 10 years ago, I'm a fan through thick and thin but now I'm tired of it I've had enough, I really don't care about the layoffs, the cheaters or shit bounties.
It's ridiculous..
left destiny a long time ago. money and grid destroyed it, like everything USA.
3:20 The painful truth with a freudian slip
Too funny haha
I wouldn’t mind a video from you explaining 5-7 things you’d like Bungie to innovate on for Destiny
Then when you are finally able to complete this annoying grind, you're rewarded less than you used to be because some people thought us being properly rewarded for meeting or exceeding the power set of an activity was "too much" and made us "too powerful."
I'm so sick of hearing that phrase.
Got more busy work for you here you go Destiny players . We all know this is aka f’ing your time.
I still need to do salvations edge to get back to rank 10. I work so much it’s hard for me to find people to help me run it.
Just to let you know, after the first 3 teams clear contest mode, it will unlock normal mode, so you'll be able to make your guide fairly quick. Also, the Pathfinder rewards are actually pinnacle, even though they say Prime

Have a whole goddam job called "power level expert" (????) who seems not to understand why this system was removed before despite being called a "expert" on it
It's more than a bone, I've got a shovel in my hand!
Thank you! Couldn't have said it better!
Hit the nail on the head with the D1 comparison. The game was more fun when you were actually rewarded for being a higher level and not just punished for being lower.
@@crsdj0110 wow you put that perfectly. There’s no reward for it now. It just punishes you for being low
your thoughts pretty much echo mine, power grind has become a pointless annoying grind and i wish they would actually listen instead of being tone deaf like always. even then it wouldn’t be so bad if they just had every drop weighted to your lowest slots, take rng out of pinnacle grind and i wouldn’t even complain. that and having to infuse EACH piece of gear to the new level really sucks. i usually just stick with one build/set of weapons until I reach pinnacle cap because it’s not even worth infusing everything else up until that point.
those my biggest issues with power grind, is the fact it’s complete RNG, i get its “looter shooter” but endgame should be focused on builds, grinding for weapons and whatever else; instead of pointless “make numbers go up”.
im just pissed that its not a perfect 2000 anymore, it was the right number to stop at and then axe the power system
@@nathanflinchum1153 yes
To add to the pain. Did you know there are no pinicals for pvp players.
They don't want to make more content so that's an easy way to make people play what's in the game already. Also power level should not be tight to the gear but the character. Infusing items for power is such a lame mechanic in 2025
I would pay 10 ascendant shards to have all my gear of one type permanently pinnacle cap on all my characters
yeah man, not impressed with the power grind at all. really limiting moving my loadouts around and powering up armour and weapons. rng not kind too with pinny drops
BRAH thats a mental problem that you have you DONT NEED TO DO THAT
Welcome back Sir! Hope you had a great vacay!

Why do bungie absolutely insist on putting a downer on Destiny 2, are they crazy?
Also, plans for next year do not inspire confidence 😢
I’m still missing a 2000 lvl helmet 😭

Power leveling sucks 😔
This is how Bungie convinced SONY that Destiny was worth $3.6 billion. Look how many players play for Sooo long. Looks like no one at SONY even played Destiny. as its been said, players are only grinding/Playing because they HAVE to.
And havibn the best Artifact MODs at the very end...being FORCED to grind just to play the game.
Wow, I couldn’t have said it better.
They should remove power level and champions.
I dont get why people get upset or pissed its just like 10 powerlevel more then everybody is right now so it really doesnt matter and even if you stay at 2000 you will not see much difference if you get 2010 and also there is always gonna be someone who is high engouh to push the other players powelevel up
Couldn't have said it better myself. Amen brother.
@@itztizzle honestly I think PvP is terrible. Lots of cheap weapons and loadouts that don’t require skill plus they said they’d focus more on gunplay but rn it’s all ability spam. It’s the limiting of resources and forcing you to infuse all your gear and weapons… again…
I don’t think light level would be as much of a problem if they removed it from your gear and just have it tied to your account.
If you play 3 characters and they got rid of the basically infinite glimmer you need another 100+ upgrade modules.

That's a stupid way of looking at the situation.
If power levels are so useless...
Why waste breath bitching about an increase to the cap?
It's not a big deal. You'll get the cap without trying. Even if it doesn't make a difference it's still a new goal.
I literally state in the video why it matters. It negatively affects the players
_'you' problem_
In almost every game there is a gear treadmill that does nothing because the content that comes with the increase is tuned.
That being said I wish they would get rid of upgrade modules now that shit is annoying this is a relic of old destiny that needs to be taken out back and shot
.
I solo GMs lol I'm such a casual. Chasing a higher number is not a challenge, it is a way for Bungie to farm player "engagement"
@@itztizzle Then why do you care? What difference does this make to you? If you don't want to chase the number, DON'T CHASE IT! Problem solved!
Oh wait... You "Solo GMs". So even if you don't chase it, you'll get there anyway. So you're LITERALLY crying about absolutely nothing.
@Kahless_the_Unforgettable you are dense. This useless number wastes player time to make them relevant enough to actually play the activities they want to play. I get that you enjoy this sort of thing but try to understand, some people value their time, and want to play games that respects the time they invest in them.
@@G0DSiD3 it's ten light levels, you absolute, next level clown. As Tizzle said in the video, it literally doesn't matter. You won't be locked out of anything, because the light difference isn't enough. If it was more than twenty, you'd have a point. But you're going to be dropped by twenty anyway. So it literally has no effect on you.
And that's not even considering that it raises your light to the level of your highest fireteam member!!! So if you're playing with friends, you still won't be locked out.
There's literally nothing to complain about. Yet, you folks ALWAYS find a way.
