Appreciate you rewinding for those teaching moments. A lot of people gloss over stuff like that and I find that more valuable than anything else. This was my first solo GM clear, also with Contraverse Voidlock, LeMon, Taipan and......whatever was anti-barrier at the time. Always fun to came back to this build.
I think the argument of prismatic vs OG subclasses is similar to OG exotic vs class items. Prismatic is good but sometimes you just want to fully build into a subclass
Been a Voidlock paired w/ Nezarec as my main since day1. Never took prismatic off since it dropped, i still get an easy proc of the true devour, get to weaken and to shoot volatile rounds + an useful melee (pocket singularity just sucks in pve sadly). Also i can adapt in the blink of an eye to specific champions/surges. It's just too good. They should give more rewards for playing a pure subclass, even something like a bonus damage to your element could be a good starting point
Echoes' Artifact isn't given enough credit for how much stronger it made Prismatic for the season. Radiant Orbs, Galvanic Armor, increased elemental drops, etc. Prismatic still is much more powerful relative to the other sub-classes though. I think Prismatic should have elemental effects be weaker on it and/or give standard sub-classes more fragment slots so they can naturally lean into their effects even more. Have their neutrals be close to or above the average neutral of Prismatic (Minus Transcendence).
Prismatic has its place just not how it is now, it would be awesome if it tied in to each season/episode, and they used it as a test for new fragment/abilities before giving them to their respective subclasses. Each subclass should have its own identity and use, while still having weaknesses. Prismatic simply doesn't coincide with the original idea behind having them, it just gives everything strong to one class and leaves the originals biting the dust.
The only way I can think to bring prismatic in-line with the og subclasses is to give the old ones access to the transcendence meter as well it’s just too broken. Even if it doesn’t give you the transcendence abilities just let’s you spam the normal abilities otherwise it’ll just be a handicap to yourself to not run prismatic
I think they have to put a nerf on all prismatic ability regen and/or damage by at least 25%. That sounds crappy, but prismatic just has too many options, so there is no reasonable way for them to just tone down one or two things to make the subclass balanced.
They just need to buff the other subclasses plain and simple. The only subclass that is on par with prismatic is solar warlock, because song of flame and helion are just so busted. With dawn chorus or speakers sight solar warlock is better than prismatic ( in terms of how fast it took to clear solo gms last season, my fastest runs out of any prismatic build on hunter/titan/warlock was pure solar lock with dragons breath and dawn chorus. Bungie needs to bring pure subclasses up to that level of potency by buffing underused aspects and abilities (think of all the useless grenade arc solar and void have)
Question: why do people run vorpal weapon on succession instead of recombination? 15% to all shots vs 100% on first shot (assuming you kill adds in-between sniper volleys). it takes 7 shots with vorpal for it to over take the damage output of recombination (805% vs 800% after 7 shots). I rarely ever put more than 6 Special sniper shots into a single target before it dies, the only exception is big bosses, but then I just use the heavy heavy weapon or have to take a break to kill the adds anyway (thus recharging recombination)
when you're outside with the tank, are you not able to double back into the previous room? there was a ton of green bricks on the floor there, but you were full up at the time. very informative run. btw, makes it more interesting when the game doesn't cooperate ... just like the rest of us.
Yes, Prismatic breaks the game balance quite deliberately, to give us fans something to salivate over. I would much rather that they introduced a new "normal" class or added some new options to classes with too few (e.g. Stasis), thus enhancing build-crafting in that manner. I also wish they would have more distinction between the classes. Giving everyone the Warlocks healing (through the grenade) was a dumb idea IMO. But the hype train is real and everything must be more and more OP. Power creep is a symptom of short-term thinking.
Hmmm, haven’t played D2 since right before Into the Light. All the build videos didn’t make any sense to me. As it seemed you could pick any grenade/super/special from any subclass and run it. This is the 1st build video I’ve seen that makes “sense” to me. I guess I’m now an OG stay off my grass boomer of a D2 player. Question itzTizzle do you like D2 more before or after the change?
as a person who loves buildcrafting, I love the possibilities it has opened up. But as someone who also loves challenging content, I feel it has made the game easier. Overall though, I enjoy it more than not
Contraverse is such a B- tier exotic it makes me sad. I mained contraverse for 2 and a half years before they adjusted it and nerfed regen times on vortex grenades. There is no reason for vortex regen to be as slow as it is. Bungie nerfed it because it's the most used of all void grenades by far, but that doesnt mean that it's better than fusion grenades or solar grenades or stasis turrets. Voidlock is pretty mid outside of super damage. The reason contraverse was meta was because it allowed you to CONSTANTLY spam grenades to control where you were getting hit from and stay safe while killing. Bungie removed that functionality when they made vortex regen slow as hell. It's simply inferior to the many other options we have in the other class elements, and I hate it because voidlock was the reason I got into Destiny altogether.
Contraverse is good, Prismatic is OP but man, 10 years ago I was born a Sunsinger and I don't see a world in which I'm not running Solar 3.0 + Speaker's Sight, especially in a team setup
Tell me why overload auto sucks. I have rewind rounds on my old sterling and I can fire like 90 rounds in a row and he just unstuns and teleports. I do lag, but this happens even when I don't. I was doing a gyrfalcon run with telesto and I had to switch to le monarque because my auto wouldn't stun the captains. I was pissed because I was having fun with telesto.
I had to put on a chill clip linear to deal with them. Honestly, most of the time, overload weapon mods just suck. Always have other ways to stun them. I was just on strand hunter, so I hadn't many options.
Overload auto rifle choir of one, can swap the barrier for battle Scar with shoot to loot/kt, or whatever pulse you want if you don't want to use double special.
My biggest issue with prismatic is its great at base with the fragments and transcendence alone and the aspects are just the icing on top so when they picked the aspects outside of warlock they played it super safe so the longer prismatic goes the more it will power creep the origin subclasses if bungie continues to not buff the bad parts of the original subclasses. My biggest example being stasis warlock on the pve side: sure with bleakwatcher and iceflair bolts you can lock down an entire room but with prismatic you can do it better just nuking everything plus having devour. Bungie needs to genuinely buff bad abilities instead of just giving them exotics and making artifact perks to buff them for a season. Hopefully they use this season to genuinely evaluate the downsides of stasis and buff them then add some of the artifact stuff from this season to EXISTING fragments instead of making whole new aspects and fragments because the fragment balance on ALL of the base 3.0 subclasses is horrible. You have best in slots that are basically permanently slotted and ones that noone uses.... they should all be useful in general not just niche builds that get vastly overshadowed
I definitely think Prismatic needs some tweaks. An increase in stat penalties on certain fragments, as well as weakening the benefits from class verbs would be nice. This latter point is the most important, I think, because if we look at the classes that are still competitive with their prismatic counterparts (i.e., Solar warlock) they are able to build into and benefit more from their keywords and verbs.
I still use the oldest version of Succession. I refuse to craft it if I have the best roll you can get, even if it doesn't have the Origin trait Also the reason why void is my favourite flavor:
I like the customizability of prismatic, but I think Bungie should have gone all-in and just made everything available so that prismatic IS the clear end-game for your guardian and the old subclasses become training wheels for buildcrafting. You're not losing anything then, because the mono-element subclasses are subsumed by prismatic, and Bungie could just balance the game around prismatic being baseline.
Really enjoyed the commentary, not everyone can be an esoterrick so it’s nice to see a solid run using a good build
Contraverse makes me feel things

I actually prefer the basic setup to prismatic it's more of a challenge. Love your content m8.

That felwintwers build on prismatic you had shown us during TFS is chefs kiss 👌
love it
Now you’ve made we want to whip out the shiny succession. My baby, my prized possession
my all time favorite build gonna be running it next season for sure
Just recently subbed and glad I did you’ve got a really good speaking voice and give great post game commentary.
thank you!

That and also let us use more than 4 fragments too

Is vorpal worth it tho? I thought recombination out dps the vorpal roll for both long and short dps phases? Or am I wrong

barrier knights don't take crits for starters. So that high powered shot is wasted on the shield. I take consistency over situationally strong any day
I use the old builds most of the time I use a auto rifle with repulsor brace on works fine especially with overload auto rifle in the artifact

yeah in the past I have ran back and all the ammo had despawned. Assume it is the same now but didn't check

So Monarque has intrinsic overload, an volatile rounds is anti barrier, can it do both or foes the overload override the anti-barrier?
can't do AB's with volatile no
@@itztizzle damn. That's unfortunate

You can skip one champion in a GM and still get platinum.
