Huge Mudrunner fan here (on PS4). Many comments here about value for product; the game is fantastic on other platforms, but the Switch is best suited for easier to run software. Ppl are right that cost is unbalanced; if Switch port was $ half of the other consoles, we would be singing a different tune. Channels like yours are greatly appreciated informing us of the risks & rewards. Ciao.

I'm so frustrated of hearing this. Just because your phone can run candycrush doesn't mean it can run raytracing, these games were never made with the switch in mind and the switch is woefully underpowered, its basically a tablet from 2015 the fact a game like this runs at all is a technical marvel. Blame Nintendo for not releasing a new console in like a decade not the developers who are just doing their best with a crappy situation, if you could do better why not go work for one of these studios
In my opinion if they can't get it to run then they need to delay it or not release it at all. They are charging a premium price for something that is not premium. I know the hardware is old at this point and this current Switch is winding down but just don't release games that are broken *cough Batman*
This game should have never been ported to switch or last gen systems. I'm playing on PS5 and you can tell it sacrificed a lot to put this on last gen consoles. And yes I consider switch last gen.

It's now the game I spent the most time with on my switch,385 hours most of it in the hardcore mode,this game is just ABSOLUTELY PERFECT for a handheld, no story to keep track of just driving and relaxing ( or getting really stressed with your truck rolling down a mountain )

I've been waiting for a Switch evaluation of Expeditions for about a week now and I was tempted to get the Switch version for the sole ability of being able to play handheld (played the original Mudrunner on Switch) but I decided to go with the Series X version and I'm glad I did after seeing this. Impressed it runs on Switch...but this ain't the version for me. Cheers guys!
They don't, get MudRunner on Switch, it looks actually okay. Avoid this and Snowrunner. They are disgustingly downgraded despite the fact the price is never downgraded to reflect the corners cut on these ports. The PC and Xbox Versions are near photoreal
Thanks for the review! I knew getting the Switch version would mean accepting some limitations, but I’m still getting it since the Switch allows me to carry a larger portable library than any other console. Eventually I’ll get it for my Legion Go, but for sheer portability, Switch is king. Cheers, Guys!

Not a typical game for me, but as much as Mark talks about Mud Runner and Snow Runner, I'm definitely thinking about picking them up in the future. My budget is all that is holding me back at this point.
I’ve been playing it on Switch for a little over 2 hours now and it runs just fine for my tastes. I may eventually get this one on PC, but the Switch version seems perfectly serviceable to me. I did immediately notice the fence Mark mentioned and the trees, but overall I’m pleased with the game. I love Mudrunner and Snowrunner, but this game’s more scout-ish inclination is right up my alley.
Would it be better to grab this as it’s a little more beginner friendly or pick up Snowrunner with all of its dlc etc? I’d like to try out this genre, I love ETS2 on PC but these games always look to be so much fun but I’m not sure whether to dive in with the new release or play the older game?

I got into snowrunner through you, and now I'm so deep (in the mud 😋) into it I immediately preordered this one (on PS5 tho). In terms of the systems and gameplay, I want to be judgemental but considering I already have 24h into the game (got the early release ver. that went out last Friday) and continue to be addicted, it is hard for me to judge it! As far as Expeditions I want to wait and see if it was worth it but your input has come in clutch once again. I'll pass on it for now but I am looking to pick up Mudrunner in the future. Just bought the physical Version of Mudrunner last Weekend, what a fantastic game MudRunner is, i choose that over Snowrunner or Expeditions because of the low price i give for it, what a blast
I've been really enjoying this game. It's not perfect - and it's crashed on me a few times - but as someone who put a decent chunk of hours into both Mudrunner and Snowrunner on Switch, this is basically an expansion of the "scouting" aspect from those games, and I'm loving it. It'll be interesting to see how the devs build on things over time.
Mark coming after Digital Foundry's jobs with the technical analysis on this one, very well done. I've been scared to try this series, sounds too intense for me.
I had to check if my video resolution was not set to 360p... Damn the graphics are low. The game seems to be amazing though. I'll get it on another platform.

Don’t bother with mudrunner, it has only 1 kind of cargo - logs -for transportation, also there is no economy, which means you are not rewarded for your efforts, no new trucks to buy and no upgrades to be found. Just buy snowrunner, base game will give you at least 100hrs of gameplay
I was wondering if the handheld component is worth the trade off with graphics between the Switch and the PS5? It actually seems oddly like a chill game to play sitting in bed rather than a living room which would make the Switch have it’s advantages.
Loved the previous two games (plus all of Snowrunner's DLC) so this is a must buy for me. And there is a physical version coming out, at least in North America!!!
As much as I love Snowrunner (and may give Mudrunner a try later), going to pass up on this one. I expected worse but not up to par with other platform for me. Would like to see an update for patches maybe once multiplayer releases to see the changes. This review was so relaxing to watch mainly because of the music.
Three things, firstly I wish Mark would do a video on Off the Road Unleashed, or at least try and recommend it on the sales videos. It actually looks great on Switch and is an arcade like take on these truck towing games. Secondly, I wish Switch up or some other Switch youtube site would re-review the Mclassic, using the 2k dongle that would make the Mclassic display at 2k on a 4ktv (it would only display at 1080p without the extra 2k dongle) This really drastically improves image quality, even with the most blurry games I've tried out, it helps. Seems it could work for this game, to am extent. Thirdly, great review thanks I've been enviously watching what I assume to be the ps5 version trailers for weeks wondering what the Switch version would look like. I may wait to see if there's a switch 2 version next year.

Tbf the video is making look worse than it is, at least on a switch lite, yes it's low resolution but can look great at times. Personally didn't notice any significant frame drops, just some minor bugs and one freeze in the almost 30 hours into it. The UI has actually been the main complaint in the community as it feels clunky. On a final note, it's a different style from Snowrunner, it's more of a rock crawler than delivering cargo from A to B.
Can u asign the accelerator/ throttle to a proportional trigger on my geoteck contoller? Being new to switch from playing ps4 games like crew2 im so used to that responce i find an all off/on button switch in switch driving games so fustrating. It practically put me right off mariokart d8! Am i the only one?

I went for the PS5 version. It’s glitchy, but it’s a hell of a lot of fun! I’ve been addicted to it all weekend. Price wise, Argos have the PS5 version for £30 and the Switch version for £35.
Even Snowrunner didn't look as good on the Switch lol we all knew it wouldn't. But if they can patch handheld FPS great! Pickin up my physical copy in about 3 hours.
I've played Snowrunner on both Switch and PS4, and I have mixed feelings about the Switch port. On the one hand, it's great to have this amazing game in a handheld format, and the game looks good overall. On the other hand, it feels like a lesser experience compared to the PS4 version. The loss of detail makes assessing road conditions a little more difficult, but also, there's less of a feeling of "immersion," which takes away from the joy of driving across these environments. Overall, it's certainly playable on Switch, but it's much better on PS4 (and probably Steam Deck). Looking forward to playing Expeditions, but not on Switch.
I love Snowrunner, while nothing about it makes me think "that's my kind of game". It somehow plays similar to Snake Pass, which I love as well. A new game from either title instantly gets my attention. But maybe I should get Mudrunner while waiting for a patch and a price drop of this one.
I have to give Snowrunner another go. I got it a while back, and got frustrated because it seemed too difficult. I was having trouble figuring out what to do/where to go as I got stuck everywhere I went. I'll give it another shot though.
The game is great but the menu and mission system is an unintuitive nightmare. There are videos that break that stuff down so you can understand what to do next better. Good luck.
In SnowRunner I need to use the triggers with little taps and half throttle at time how is that even possible with the switch? After SnowRunner I'm a big fan and really want this game

I want them to make a game that focuses more on rescue and repair missions. It would be so cool to do a hawaii mission dodging lava or have to evacuate people from a mudslide or avalanche.
I'm not someone who cares too much about graphics, style's more important, but with this game I may as well take my glasses off to look at it. At least then it makes sense that it's this blurry!
Was excited for you Mark when I saw the announcement given your love for the series in previous videos, sorry it's a bit of a disappointment. Maybe when the Switch 2 releases they may be able retroactively improve it for that and you can do an All Patched Up on it. Cheers!
At first I was having doubts on snow runner but damn was I wrong until I tried it out then the mud runner came out now expedition can't wait to get my hands on this games
I've played mudrunner on the xbox. I loved it. Up to a point. I loved driving around unlocking things. But the moment I had to do a level where I had to collect the wood myself by loading it with a crane I couldn't seem to do it. No matter ho lw much wood I could fit it was never enough. Don't know what to do. So I got my heart broke...
I dont really care about ths visuals as long as the game is fun. And its OK. I think , i like mudrunner the best though and would love to see what Saber could do with a real "on the road" trucking game. Maybe "Contracts: A Mudrunner Game" could be next? Where you drive on roads and haul cargo from point a to point b. Dont know what they could do to mix up the formula though so that it wont look like an ATS knockoff
I’m no developer, but would it have been so hard to make the rear view mirror legit? That would’ve been a nice touch. Either way, dope, adult kind of game. Playing it makes me feel less like a Pokémon-loving man-child 😂😅
They are starting to make me want a Steam Deck at this point. I think we are past due for a new Switch console. The Switch reinvigorated my love of portable gaming but it’s just falling so far behind now 😢

I love Snowrunner on my switch and play it with crosssave on my Xbox. However, I’ll be getting this one on the Xbox.

I love Snowrunner, while nothing about it makes me think "that's my kind of game". It somehow plays similar to Snake Pass, which I love as well. A new game from either title instantly gets my attention. But maybe I should get Mudrunner while waiting for a patch and a price drop of this one.

I have to give Snowrunner another go. I got it a while back, and got frustrated because it seemed too difficult. I was having trouble figuring out what to do/where to go as I got stuck everywhere I went. I'll give it another shot though.
The game is great but the menu and mission system is an unintuitive nightmare. There are videos that break that stuff down so you can understand what to do next better. Good luck.

In SnowRunner I need to use the triggers with little taps and half throttle at time how is that even possible with the switch? After SnowRunner I'm a big fan and really want this game
Remember in the 90's the watered down ports we got on the Gameboy from the Snes? Its not as bad as that.
I've been wanting to try these games for a while now, but they are quite pricey. Mudrunner goes on sale quite cheap however, would you say it's worth it, or is Snowrunner much better? Cheers!
I want them to make a game that focuses more on rescue and repair missions. It would be so cool to do a hawaii mission dodging lava or have to evacuate people from a mudslide or avalanche.

I'm not someone who cares too much about graphics, style's more important, but with this game I may as well take my glasses off to look at it. At least then it makes sense that it's this blurry!
Was excited for you Mark when I saw the announcement given your love for the series in previous videos, sorry it's a bit of a disappointment. Maybe when the Switch 2 releases they may be able retroactively improve it for that and you can do an All Patched Up on it. Cheers!

At first I was having doubts on snow runner but damn was I wrong until I tried it out then the mud runner came out now expedition can't wait to get my hands on this games
I've played mudrunner on the xbox. I loved it. Up to a point. I loved driving around unlocking things. But the moment I had to do a level where I had to collect the wood myself by loading it with a crane I couldn't seem to do it. No matter ho lw much wood I could fit it was never enough. Don't know what to do. So I got my heart broke...
Does it look better than SnowRunner on Switch?
I dont really care about ths visuals as long as the game is fun. And its OK. I think , i like mudrunner the best though and would love to see what Saber could do with a real "on the road" trucking game. Maybe "Contracts: A Mudrunner Game" could be next? Where you drive on roads and haul cargo from point a to point b. Dont know what they could do to mix up the formula though so that it wont look like an ATS knockoff
I’m no developer, but would it have been so hard to make the rear view mirror legit? That would’ve been a nice touch. Either way, dope, adult kind of game. Playing it makes me feel less like a Pokémon-loving man-child 😂😅
The load times in in Snowrunner bother me, unfortunately sounds like this has the same issue unfortunately. Buuuut I still want it 😂
These games are looking more and more appealing to me, I think their next game will be on alien worlds and that's when I'll drive in.

The blur is disappointing. Well, I still have bought it. Played it for 4 hours now. Fun beats the blur.
The GPU drops from 768MHz down to 368MHz in handheld wanting more performance is not possible without having a modded/Hacked Switch
They are starting to make me want a Steam Deck at this point. I think we are past due for a new Switch console. The Switch reinvigorated my love of portable gaming but it’s just falling so far behind now 😢
