Stacey still screaming uncontrollably as she still defending herself with butcher knife but woundup stabbing herself in the hip before the scene quickly more terrifying - Helen gets physical with Stacey, grabbing by her blonde hair and throwing against the wall. Cut to outside of the Lincoln Village where Stacey thrown out the balcony window stories below to her death, as her body hits the concrete ground; her cavader slit from to groin to gullet, her mouth agape.
Wow I gotta say, even though it will never top the original, this was a very unique and well put together story of the Candyman. Even though I was skeptical, well done. And even huge applause to the appearance of Tony Todd and his still hypnotic and honey sweet voice
Brianna now being a vital member of the candyman church, being the witness to Anthony's baptism (as someone else called it since he was basically born again) and also seeing the return of Daniel Robataille and all of the rest of the various Candymen. Now she's basically a missionary or even the high priestess to the congregation now, whether she's arrested and imprisoned or arrested but set free and allowed to return to the art world (re the alternate ending where we see all of Anthony's last works and she's even almost dressed like a priestess with what's basically golden robes and her hair up like a crown) she will be able to spread the word and allow the Candyman (all of them) to return.
"I am the writing on the walls; I am the sweet smell of blood. The buzz that echoes in the alleyways. They will say I shed innocent blood. You are far from innocent. But they will say you were. That's all that matters."
Man bringing Tony back in the end the original candyman just made everything sweeter. I was so happy . The movie was a lot better than I thought it would be.
0:30 Well she can breathe a sigh of relief since apparently the last person to say the name in the mirror is the one that gets massacred. And given that the cop was trying to intimidate her into saying that Anthony provoked them into shooting him dead, when in reality they fired point blank at him when he was on the floor in Brianna's arms, or they implicate her as an accomplice, this was the only way out of that catch-22.
"They will say I shed innocent blood. You are far from innocent, but they'll say you were." Dude, just stay in the car after a spirit tells you something like that 🤣

@@Petey0707 actually the police kill far more white people a year than any other race, the statistics are up at the FBI statistics website which is all publicly available.
That's one of the things that's haunted me the most since seeing "Candyman" this summer. Even after everything Anne-Marie and Helen did to protect Anthony from both the Candyman and the world, the world still took his life and the Candyman assimilated another poor soul into his hive. Reality has truly made the "Candyman" franchise the bleakest in terms of gothic/slasher horror.
This guy is so intriguing with all the monsters and legends that inspired his story: Bloody Mary, Boogieman, Hook man, and even Dracula. The Candyman is so derivative yet incredibly unique.

Great score, cinematography, acting and direction. Where I felt this let down was the story and bringing Candyman back. The Candymen reflects violence, misjustice and innocence of blood spilled on Cabrini green through racial injustice. But letdown comes from Burke's master plan of having to create a new Candyman in order to scare people away or bring justice? I thought Candyman kills anybody who doesn't believe and speaks his name in the mirror regardless of race?
Yeah he did I in the original film, and and a little bit in this film with some of the victims, but I’m guessing the filmmakers got carried away with the social messaging, besides from that, I still see Candyman as a vengeful spirit willing to it out on anyone, black, white, anyone
@@mannysnav5258 There could be the fact that Burke wanted to try and make the spirit do that, not realizing he had no real say in what Candyman is. Candyman only kills those who say his name, because the summoning is basically the person/people in question doing so are saying he's not real.
that's why candyman has to come back, so that people will know the stories behind him, Anthony's, Sherman's, Daniel's, so that their memories and stories will live on but no one will speak their name in vain which is basically what everyone who got killed was doing, treating it as a joke or to prove that they were smart or brave, as good as laughing at them or saying it wasn't true. besides, Burke's point was that the area was gentrified so now there are mostly white people living there so the people most likely to hear the story or say the name will be white people. they tried to cover up a past by tearing down homes and keeping the original owners in a confined space guarded by the police, so now the past is coming back to remove them
@@agenttheater5 There's even the idea that Candyman's legend was gentrified. Anthony learns about Candyman by trying to learn about Helen. Burke even makes the comment about how horrific things happened to Black people all the time in Cabrini-Green, but they happen to one White woman and suddenly everyone's talking about Helen and not Candyman.

"Tell...everyone." It was a clever choice to not have Tony Todd listed in the opening credits as it would have lessened the impact of him appearing at the very end.
Though many didn't like this film, I hope they do a sequel. Like really, I did like this movie. The atmosphere, visuals, the soundtrack and connections to the first film. I'd love to see more of *Candymanthony* and how he's gonna carry out the mantle. And rather than calling the sequel by the traditional title, what if they just named it *"Hive"* ?
Being a true STAN of the original Candyman and a fan of both Peele and DaCosta, I feel so conflicted watching this "Requel". The cinematography is amazing, majority of the cast is good, mostly, and the score was perfect.... But that's it, I wasn't expecting it to be as good as the original but imo it failed to live up to its name in many ways. Biggest issue for me; Candyman was in the movie for a total of 5min, add to that all the kills were basically off screen. The story didn't seem to know where it wanted to go or why it even needed to be told, and the lack of (Daniel Robitaille/Candyman)Tony Todd and (Helen)Virginia Madsen was a BIG mistake and huge letdown considering this was the "Spiritual Successor" to the original. The concept of the hive wasn't bad but it was poorly executed and the social commentary was overly forced, whereas in the original it came off very natural...
I 100% agree with all this, I feel like the ending, where it was just suddenly revealed that the laundry mat owner was bad all along was extremely random in my eyes, that & the random scene of a person jumping out of a window, if this had better writing, more actual Candyman, & it’d be 100x better

Except he killed others before him so that makes no sense.
No the candy man was protecting her and killing the police . If it was like that then the first cop wouldn’t have died with his throat spilt open
Meh, made no sense. Technically the cop only said his name once. And then only HIM, and none of the other cops. Yet they all get the hook anyway. So since none of the original rules of the first movie apply any longer, this movie effectively made him the black avenger. Lame 🤷🏻♂️
@@rogermoreno1152 ehhhh technically the first cop had already shot him and the others shot first upon seeing him so it was just self defense my boy🤷🏿 if he was white and they were black it would make sense to you huh😂
@@rogermoreno1152 same thing happened in the first movie though? It was never consistent Helen summoned him multiple times and each time he killed the people around her.
How sad, Helen gave her life to save that boy, only to still be taken by Candyman in the end. I would have enjoyed seeing Helen appear as she did when she killed Trever and stopped Candyman from taking Anthony once again and saving him. That ladies and gentlemen should have been the ending, Candyman Vs Helen (The Angel of Cabrini-Green)
It sucks but I've come to expect it from horror films. If you have a survivor involved, it's a 50/50 chance they'll either make it or die if they're involved in the sequel.
Didn’t she become an urban legend herself?
@@dannywalker6381 she did. Apparently she was even supposed to appear in this film as some sort of supernatural entity as well but it got cut from the final product for some reason.
@@dannywalker6381 Yeah, she's out there in his universe. If someone were to call both Candy Man and Helen they would have to fight each other to determine who gets the victim.
My vision of a sequel for Candyman 2021 with a tie-in comicbook before the new sequel:
PEEP THIS
Mentioning more of the Helen Lyle character and a series of appearances by Virginia Madsen (by de-ageing FX)
Reference to the 1992 flm; via newspaper clippings and/or tie-in graphic novel)
The fate of the characters include :
Stacey: after finding the dead body of Trevor and chased by Candywoman (Helen Lyle) after the hook crashed through the mirror, uncontrollable through her palpable fear, Candywoman hits Stacey in her left eye. Stacey still screaming uncontrollably as she still defending herself with butcher knife but woundup stabbing herself in the hip before the scene quickly more terrifying - Helen gets physical with Stacey, grabbing by her blonde hair and throwing against the wall. Cut to outside of the Lincoln Village where Stacey thrown out the balcony window stories below to her death, as her body hits the concrete ground; her cavader slit from to groin to
gullet, her mouth agape.
Wow I gotta say, even though it will never top the original, this was a very unique and well put together story of the Candyman. Even though I was skeptical, well done. And even huge applause to the appearance of Tony Todd and his still hypnotic and honey sweet voice
Meh. I was disappointed with the whole thing. So many missed opportunities

0:30 Well she can breathe a sigh of relief since apparently the last person to say the name in the mirror is the one that gets massacred. The film deserved much more than what we got. Such a wasted opportunity. When Coleman Domingo’s character set up Anthony to be killed by the police at the end, I was so mad. Like that was completely unnecessary.

It shows you can't always avoid fate.
It's realistic in its depiction and makes sense with how cruel, brutal and violent systemic racism is
Helen was the Phoenix of death, she saved baby Candyman.

I hope Tony Todd comes back as Candyman if they make another one 👍

The perfect ending to this abstract painting of a film.
I completely agree.
I 100% agree with all this, I feel like the ending, where it was just suddenly revealed that the laundry mat owner was bad all along was extremely random in my eyes, that & the random scene of a person jumping out of a window, if this had better writing, more actual Candyman, & it’d be 100x better
This wasn't a spiritual successor. It was a direct sequel and continued the story of the original.
I think you missed that part.
